Nov-19-20  realdumptrump: Anyways, let's not let the kettle talk about wasting <CG>'s disk space, or other resources.
Nov-19-20  Big Pawn: I think the best argument for closing the Rogoff page, which <Susan> already declared she was going to do (so there's no argument here anyhow) is to look at the support page today.

Do the <CG> admins really have time for all of this nonsense? Let <realdumptrump's> posts in the support forum be the best argument for shutting down the rogoff forum.

These social maladroits suffer a complete lack of self awareness, as can be seen by the multitude of butthurt posts in this forum today.

Nov-19-20  realdumptrump: Said the Lady in the Lake.
Nov-19-20  Big Pawn: I think the support forum should be for support (reporting bugs etc...) and contributing positive ideas about CG website development.

In light of this, I recommend <susan> delete all of the posts related to Rogoff wining asap, and restore this page to order.

Nov-19-20  realdumptrump: <<bippy the statesman> In light of this, I recommend <susan> delete all of the posts related to Rogoff <wining> asap, and restore this page to order.>

<wining> - a Trumpian slip, that's fer sure!

Anyways, funny to see a big alpha running to teach, fer sure, fur sur.

al wazir: <Susan Freeman: There are plenty internet sites to drag out political ideas.>

Despite all the non-chess-related comments, <chessgames.com> is a chess site before all else.

But *precisely for that reason* it has something those other sites that encourage argumentation don't have: consistently high levels of intelligence and education across the community of members and occasional visitors.

Stupid people don't play chess.

I enjoy visiting this site both for the chess and for the interaction with other kibitzers. Over the years I have used the <Kenneth S. Rogoff> forum as a sounding board for some of my political and other ideas. After they have been criticized, and if they survive the going-over they get, I write letters to magazines, newspapers and legislators. Some have gotten published. (I won't cite examples because they appeared over my real name.) Some may even have influenced events.

I consider the interactions I have with my intellectual peers here -- even with those I consider to be totally mistaken; in fact, *especially* with them -- to be one of the most valuable features of the site and one of the great privileges I enjoy. I would hate to lose them.

I deleted my Facebook account over a dozen years ago and have never regretted it. I use LinkedIn occasionally to communicate with people who are hard to contact any other way; but except for that I have nothing to do with social media. For me <chessgames.com> takes their place.

OK, so the owner doesn't respect any of the top 3 posting guidelines. I'm saving that for posterity.

Nov-19-20  nok: <SF: Have you tried Quora?>

Are you telling me, and others who dislike racist, offensive insults and spam to go away?

It may be exactly what you get.

Nov-19-20  Big Pawn: LOLS!

Watch out <Susan>, now your about to suffer a full on Snowflake Attack. They will show up here to bully you into acting as their instrument of vendetta OR ELSE!

Or else what?

They will call YOU a racist and attempt to pressure you to CONFORM.

They are gathering in the park, getting ready to tear down your statue.

Behold, a sea of pink pussyhats in the support forum, demanding Social Justice!

(By the way, where did that phrase originate?)

Susan Freeman: <Big>. Why I want to stop Rogoff. Exactly why. 🤣😜
Nov-19-20  Big Pawn: < Susan Freeman: Have you tried Quora>

Quora is okay, but nobody wants to win a debate more than a chess player. Just look at the outrageous, oversized egos you’re dealing with.

I mean, <al wazir> thinks his Rogoff posts have influenced events!

Delusional!

I tried to tell this forum earlier, these people actually think their anal, petty, political troll posts and flame wars are the hidden gems of the universe, deserving to be archived (half a million posts!) on the internet at someone else’s expense.

Breathtaking arrogance.

Sure, I’ve posted thousands of times on the Rogoff. Delete it all.

I promise not to cry.

Nov-19-20  realdumptrump: Oh, the irony. Here's what I was holding off writing:

* * * * *

Susan, there's other techniques used to troll here on CG... "flooding the zone" is merely the simplest.

There's also "s.h.*.t.posting" (really, it's a technical term), and "dog packing", among others. That's not even touching on the use of socks.

The master purveyors of said techniques have devoted so much of their time and energy to trolling that their other "contributions" to <CG> are scant.

I trust you're weighing such considerations into your deliberations.

* * * * *

<BP> and his gang are the true masters of "dog packing".

They deliberately see a post they don't like, it sets them off so much that they come out like a swarm of hornets, stirring up such a controversy and carnage that they know the admins will delete the entire thread.

They get their chuckles trolling everybody, wasting the admins time, and censoring the original offending post.

A good time had by all.

It's a laugh to suggest the other side utilizes this technique.

saffuna: <susan> That's the sort of thing that is allowed to pass on Rogoff.

But as I said earlier, the rightwing group, previously probably eight people posting regularly, has now shrunk to two occasional posters over this year and especially after the election.

We're mostly just getting outraged together now.

Nov-19-20  realdumptrump: <BP> won't cry because one of his fundamental goals is to waste other people's time.

Give kudzu his due.

Death Wish

do you really think it's so very wise
to embrace the object of your demise?
clasp that asp to your breast?
climb right into some viper's nest?
do you dally with fate,
taking to yourself some toxic plate?
do you see yourself not giving a fig?
dancing madly to some maelstrom's jig?
you harbor a heart of evil onyx stone
slavish to your anger, dying incessantly alone.

<big pawn> would love it. Thousands of posts about how Trump is the most popular ever, the Great Alpha Male, and can never be defeated. Who wouldn't want all that deleted?

Nov-19-20  realdumptrump: Time to move on, <Susan>'s posting on <BP>'s forum...

Susan Freeman: <Saffuna> with all due respect. What the heck does the outcome of the election have to do with with keeping the Rogoff political have to do with it? My point exactly.
I rest my case.

I would rather preserve and advance chess and retreat from this schoolyard bullying and advance chess scholarship and preceptorship . My last word.
I am going for a walk

saffuna: <susan> You clearly have not read the page much.

But what I was saying is that the conservatives have mostly left the page, with the election being the catalyst.
