What's the download on the uploads?! |
|
Oct-06-18
 | | Susan Freeman: Graham....You said you uploaded games to the data base, then you said when will these be uploaded to the data base. I am not an IT person, so I cannot make sense of this..... but I will kick Sargon's arse to help make sense of this. If it has already been addressed please inform me, because Sargon does gets enough orders from the Boss Lady, ( ie Susan Freeman ) |
|
| Oct-06-18 | | zanzibar: Whoa, <Susan>, don't go full-fledged British on Sargon! (arse vs ass) Here's my take of <Graham>'s comment - 1) There is an automatic submission process, available to all, where PGN games can be submitted via a <CG> webpage. PGN Upload Utility
There's also the old-fashioned PGN submission via email, which many users do, especially for big files. Note- After a user submits the game(s), using either method, their job is essentially done. <CG> takes over... 2) Eventually (and this step can take a long, long time - if it gets done at all), Daniel would get off his butt and actually upload the submitted games to the database (DB). At that point people will be able to see there submitted games as an actual <CG> game, i.e. it will have a webpage, and there will also be a player page for both White/Black player. So - I like saying "submitted" for my part of this, and "uploaded" for the <CG> part of it. Graham used "uploaded" for both phases, but there's a handoff in the process. . |

 | | Annie K.: <Susan> yes, it's been addressed... see "user-submitted games". What I've been saying should be a top priority by now. When members "upload" games, they upload to a queue (via the PGN Upload Utility). Then it needs to be uploaded to the database by an admin so it will actually appear on the site. |

| Oct-07-18 | | thegoodanarchist: <saffuna: <Everyone> has not paid a nickel to chessgames for the services he is annoyed have not been provided.> Maybe <Eveyone> is disgusted that convict scumbags are allowed to slander other users, and even when <Everyone> uses the "blow the whistle" function to report the cyberbullying and slander, the site admins play favorites and allow criminals to run amok. Why should anyone pay for that?
Of course, I'm just speculating... |

 | | harrylime: Is this supposed to be a support forum and not an actual CAFE forum for the geeks on here too scared to post in the Cafe ON THIS SITE ??? LOL LOL |
|
Oct-07-18
 | | harrylime: To me just now looking at this "support" forum it seems like CAFE No 2 ... but with no BALLS. |

 | | tpstar: <I reckon you guys need to take control of this page ... itz called "Member support" for a reason ... not a place to vent agendas against other users ... just saying loike.> Hold on, slow down, wait a minute, you are going way too fast. Are you saying this should be a Moderated site where members follow the Posting Guidelines every time? What a radical concept. You know the world is upside down when <fab4> and <angslo> - two of the worst repeat offenders in site history - start lecturing everyone else about following the rules. |
|
| Oct-09-18 | | Nisjesram: Well said , <harrylime> :) That is why i just posted a response in <rogoff> forun to the post of <tpstar> that he posted in this forum . |

 | | Richard Taylor: <Susan Freeman> Do you play chess yourself? Re Daniel, it was tragic. I think I understand how you and family must have felt with such a sudden and sad loss. It would devastate me to lose my son or a daughter. I suppose these things have to be faced. Perhaps the workload was too much. But I suppose these things are unknowable. But I know that people who seem in perfect health can die suddenly. In anycase chessgames.com is a unique site with a community, albeit with many differences of views and grumping at each other and so on, so it is good it is staying on course. And there are great resources here for the price. All the best with it all. |

Oct-10-18
 | | Susan Freeman: Thank you Richard Taylor. |

| Oct-10-18 | | JimNorCal: A couple people think this game score is incorrect. They give info in comments at the game. There is no Correction Slip link visible on my phone's display. Only if you are home with your laptop can you submit a correction request. Intended? Here's the game
J S Morrison vs Capablanca, 1922 |

 | | Annie K.: <Intended?>
Yes. :) The mobile view aims to be a "less cluttered" version, optimal for simple site use. However, it is always possible to switch to desktop view temporarily for the full range of options, even if you are on mobile, and return to mobile view afterwards if you prefer it. (Personally, I use the desktop view by default on mobile too, but that's a matter of taste.) :) |
|
| Oct-10-18 | | JimNorCal: Thanks, Annie K.
I think I see the control knob in "prefs" |
