<keypusher> there are around a half dozen volunteers now who can process correction slips, thanks to <Susan> arranging this for us.

I suspect <stonehenge> did the lion's share of clearing the immense backlog. I bet he's still closely monitoring new correction slips.

MissScarlett: There wasn't an immense backlog. If memory serves, there were just a few dozen correction slips that had been effectively in a state of limbo, usually because they involved assertions that were difficult, if not impossible, to verify. I don't know what happened to most of them, but I suspect some were just waved through to clear the system.

Susan Freeman: <Miss>. I thought there were over 3,000 corrections. At the gym right now and can’t verify. I think <Stonehenge > had a lot to do with eliminating them.

<MissScarlett> I was the first person the webmaster gave the keys to, and I remember looking at the Correction slips and seeing over 1000 extant.

It's possible I am remembering this incorrectly. You got the keys very shortly after I did- might have been at exactly the same time even.

Funny how there is a huge difference between "a few dozen" and "immense backlog" though eh...

One of us is probably more accurate than the other on this "remembering business" but I have no stake in being right about it.

Apr-09-22  Z free or die: Aren't cleared correction slips logged?

Oh dear, if not.

Susan Freeman: <Z> yes of course

Tabanus: <Susan> Perhaps you can ask Steve if it's possible to have (64 divided by 2 =) <32> players in the CG standings table? Instead of <29> as it is now. Reason:

There are many knockouts with 32 players, then if you click on the Pocal you can see them all (and not only the top 29).

There are also some Swisses with 32 players. Example: British Championship (1953), where the three last players are not shown.

Susan Freeman: <Tabanus> I passed the word to Steve. I don't like to bother him on weekends too much. We have some future plans of contracting a front end coder to clean up Olga and make it more responsive, among other things. Progress...............
Apr-09-22  Z free or die: <<Z> yes of course>

So, instead of relying on memory, or mis-memory, what's the correct answer?

Susan Freeman: <Z> CG reached 1500 correction slips before the editor page.
Apr-09-22  Z free or die: Thanks.

Now I'm wondering about the dozen number though!

<z> I wouldn't worry too much about the "dozen" either.

For all we know, <MissScarlett> is in on a deeply erudite, and deeply nerd, idiom known only to Eton graduates or some such.

God bless him all the same. Generally he is rarely wrong about anything as far as I can tell.

Possibly he looked at the slip count after <Stonehenge> (I think) processed almost all of them. <Stone> is known for a prodigious work rate.

  jessicafischerqueen:

I think it likely that <Tabanus> may also have processed a good deal of that initial backlog of correction slips.

Thing is, both <Tab> and <Stone> are perhaps excessively humble folk, so good luck getting any confirmation out of either of them.

Tabanus: I processed a few dozens 2-3 months ago. I'm mainly occupied with making new errors ;)

<Susan> It's not very important but 32 is a good chess number and I've asked for it for years. Another thing is the tiny player photos, I want them bigger! :)

So "Hungry" then?
