<Z> Do you mean to tell me you are not the webmaster?

  jessicafischerqueen:

<Susan> that is good news. In which case you should consult <Stephen> about how the other coders are doing, and in particular if the new games are being imported and sorted properly.

In the recent past, as investigation by <tabanus> and <stonehenge> attests, they have very much not been imported and sorted properly.

Both of them have threatened to quit over this issue, so I would rank this issue of PRIMARY IMPORTANCE.

Unless you want to lose the invaluable service these two volunteer editors have offered us for free for at least the last 15 years, by my count.

The threat is stronger than the execution. Where else would they go!? What else would they do!?

Mar-31-22  Z truth 000000001: <Missy> - they might just join <Sargon>...

<Z> I had no idea <Sargon> was a dog.

Mar-31-22  Z truth 000000001: Well, he was a good old boy (until he wasn't).

And, to "throw a dog a bone", I have to give credit to <Missy> for the hammock concept in the first place.

Good analysis <z>, and not for the first time.

Again, I had no idea <Missy> invented the hammock, though I have to say I am not surprised.

Mar-31-22  George Wallace: I have a functionality suggestion. After deleting a comment, how about <cg> automatically redirecting us back to the forum we were just in? As it is, after deleting a comment, the user is stranded on a nothing page where you have to click "return to forum." Why the extra step?

Apr-02-22  whiteshark: The <European Championship> is an 11-round Swiss tournament taking place from 27 March to 6 April 2022 in Terme Čatež, Slovenia.

317 players from 39 countries are vying for the entrances to the World Cup.

There are 114 chess players with the Grandmaster title. Among the competitors are 29 women players.

Players receive 90 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes to the end of the game, plus a 30-second increment starting from move one.

Apr-05-22  Z free or die: When I was a little kid my family went down south for a vacation - and we stopped someplace for something or the other - I can't exactly remember much with the exception of the little sign they had over the toilet:

<We aim to please,

Today, when introducing WWI, a student raised her hand and brought up the death of a certain archduke. Nobody knew his name, so as a hint, I offered that he shares his name with a band.

Gentle reader, my students asked if there had perhaps been an Archduke Metallica.>

Everyone knows it was Archduke Bon Jovi.

OhioChessFan: A wish list suggestion, maybe some day: I want to set up links in my profile directly to specific move positions in Opening Explorer to facilitate correspondence games. For example, if I am 11 plies into a CaroKann against <jfq> and want to quickly see what OE has to say, I can do so in one click on my named link <White's 6th vs jfq>. Sure, I could copy the actual url, but a link I could name would be magnitudes more convenient.

  jessicafischerqueen:

<OhioButterCowFan>

That is indeed a good idea, but I'm not the right person to use in the example. I never play the CaroKann.

If somebody forces me to play it I resign on my second move.
