Check It Out: I don't see the spam you are referring to. That's what the ignore feature is for.
Oct-25-22  nok: I see the admin erased some personal attacks, but my proposal got lost in the shuffle.

The idea is to prevent flooding by allowing up to three consecutive posts by the same person within three hours, say. This would improve post quality and encourage discussion.

Indeed I noticed whenever someone sends rapid-fire posts in succession, they tend to be low quality and arguably degrade the page (see guideline #8).

Oct-26-22  optimal play: It appears my sensible suggestions also got lost in the shuffle.

(1) Clean up the Rogoff page.
(2) Prohibit sock puppet accounts.

Willber G: <optimal play: Clean up the Rogoff page.>

It's a lot cleaner than it was.

Oct-26-22  ZoboBear 000000001: Why am I getting a feeling of deja vu all over again?
Oct-26-22  Rdb: I like suggestion of <nok> with an amendment :

3 posts per person per day but only for rogoff forum. No such restriction on any other page/forum

Willber G: Is there any reason that engine results use http instead of https? eg:

http://www.chessgames.com/perl/nph-...

My firewall won't let me view these any longer.

Hey <nok> it did not get lost in the shuffle, we're coming up with a solution to this madness.

<Willber G: Is there any reason that engine results use http instead of https?>

I'm looking into it and will be emailing you shortly. Sorry for any inconvenience

Hey <Willber G> when i click on the link, it's been redirecting me to https. Is it not redirecting you to https when you click on the link?

fredthebear: Oh, some folks DO get answers/help here.

Here is an example of useful multiple posts: P de Rooi vs H van Donk, 1961

I made three posts in about twenty minutes. Had there been more responses, I could have easily made 5-6 useful posts in half-an-hour on a single page.

Don't assume that multiple posts are useless. Banter back-and-forth is not always bad.

Wilber's multiple posts above are certainly more than reasonable.

Those comments are definitely not useless. We've never said that multiple post weren't allowed.

Oct-27-22  ZoboBear 000000001: <<pete> Those comments are definitely not useless. >

Hmmm.... even when commenting on opening theory out to just 19-ply with only 6 seconds of SF 11?

Oct-27-22  ZoboBear 000000001: Also - since <Olga> doesn't do 960, can't <CG> just automatically load the <pgn4web> viewer for FischerRandom games.

I would posit that much less confusion would result from having a different viewer (that works) versus not being able to view the games at all (and likely not knowing why).

Surely that would be a quick, easy, and useful hack to the code.

We're working on that, we should have it up soon.

Check It Out: On a computer, I switched over to pgn4web. Later, on my mobile, I noticed that I had no functionality; eg couldn't flip the board, couldn't switch viewers, etc.

Thank you for letting us know, we will be looking into this.
