 | | fredthebear: <Someone sullying the forum again> nok forgets that the entire forum operates this way all the time. Nobody was around last night. I enjoyed posting political photos and news to myself like harry posting music links, but harry was gone. The place was dead. Notice the lack of personal insults so often used against me even when I haven't posted. The Rogoff page is for politics, right?
Somebody cries foul when they don't like the reading material. Yeah, I made perhaps ten chess posts too. |

 | | saffuna: <nok forgets that the entire forum operates this way all the time.> False. Nobody else has done what<fred> did this morning. Especially posting old stories that have since been debunked. |

 | | petemcd85: <nok: Someone sullying the forum again:> Hey nok, I've read through the comments and i don't see anything offensive or breaking any of the guidelines. There is a pita score to help with this type of situation. You can also ignore the user, so that you don't have to see any of his posts <ZoboBear 000000001:> <Z> we are looking into the 403 forbidden error. |

 | | Fusilli: Would you consider setting a limit on the number of posts per week/month (or, better, the number of words) on those who don't pay to support this website? It is frankly annoying to see political comments on pages that should be about chess or chessplayers. I mean, other than the Kenneth Rogoff page. The implicit rule is that political discussions (with their garbage, time-wasting, AND YELLING) get confined to the Rogoff page. I know you can't be policing what gets posted, but I am sure that some of these politics-obsessed posters are enjoying this privilege for free. Asking non-paying users to limit their posts seems just fair to me. I would like to be able to avoid political comments by avoiding the Rogoff page. After all, the only thing this website has over other chess websites is the conversations/postings about chess, on a simple platform. If I want to play, learn, follow news, or virtually anything else except posting comments on chess for discussion with a community, I go to chess.com. Thank you. |

|
Nov-08-22
 | | Fusilli: <OCF> and <MissS> Thank you. It's just that I don't want to put users on an ignore list for their political leanings when they may also post the kind of chess comments I want to read. I have nothing against any user and I think I only put one on ignore in my 18 years on this website. I am aware that I may be oversensitive about this, though. Even leaving politics aside, I do believe that those who post heavily should pull their weights with the modest contribution the premium membership asks for. Perhaps it would have been wiser of me to simply post that proposal. |

 | | petemcd85: <Fusilli: It is frankly annoying to see political comments on pages that should be about chess or chessplayers.> If you see a political post outside of Rogoff or any post irrelevant to chess please just blow the whistle and I will delete the comment. |
|
Nov-08-22 | | virginmind: There are thousands of comments here with little or no relevance to chess, but also not necessarily political - that doesn't make them less interesting for some to read. Are you going to delete them all? |

 | | perfidious: One of the most vociferous complainers over off-topic content atm is himself given to religious and political screeds, anywhere and everywhere, but has no hesitation in publicly calling out others for their own such posts. One can blow the whistle as often as one wishes, but if no action is taken, why bother? I do not propose to stand idly by whilst such posts as the excerpt below are made: <....What's more, his plethora of chess posts are rather lazy and effortless. If he'd put as much effort into informing the readers as he does finding big words, we might learn something. It's not uncommon to find errors in his chess posts, so he gets narcissistic on us, telling us how great he is and how feeble we are. When pigs fly!> Who appointed this poster the judge? |
