 | | WannaBe: Minor cosmetics "complaint", when you look at the top bar, "Members", "Laboratory", "Collections", etc. they are nicely done. Capital letters and all that. Then you look at the bottom, "home", "login", "Premium Membership", "new kibitzing", "privacy notice", etc. they are all over the place. Please clean that up? Please! It's driving me nuts... =)) |

|
| Nov-14-19 | | WinKing: One thing that has bothered me for awhile is that on the chessgames statistics page under 'What are the highest Elo ratings achieved in the database?' you have the #1 player listed as <paj>(2996) & the #4 player listed as <OUTCAST>(2850). There is only one game listed for each of those. I think this is an insult to all of the other 38 great players that are listed here. <paj> & <OUTCAST> seriously? They should be removed. |

Good evening.
I'm getting a "plug in blocked" message on this page: Arpad Vajda At first, the page then disappeared, and I was re-directed to the cg.com home page. On a second attempt, the page did not re-direct, but I see that the "pronunciation feature" has been blocked on this page. The pronunciation of player names is one of the best features. Is it possible to adjust the code so it doesn't block the feature? |

 | | WannaBe: <JFQ> How or what device were you connecting with? I just click on your link on my laptop and did not experience the same thing. |
|
Nov-14-19
 | | Annie K.: Oh, yeah, the Flash issue. We've been using a Flash player for the pronunciation files, but Flash, like Java, has also been on the way out for a couple of years now. We'll have to replace it with some other kind of audio player. OK, thanks for the heads-ups everybody. :) |

 | | Tabanus: <CG> You have the European Club Cup uninterrupted since 2003, what about also 2019 (which finished yesterday). Just in case you forgot. http://sahcg.me/euclubcup/, with games at Chess-Results links. |

 | | Annie K.: <Tab> I know. The St Louis Winter A and B round robins end tomorrow. I was planning on uploading those and the ECC Open and Women sections at the same time. :) |

| Nov-23-19 | | Boomie: Google Chrome posts a warning on pages other than the main page: "This page is trying to load scripts from unauthenticated sources: The site you try to visit isn't secure." More info here: https://support.google.com/chrome/a... |
|
| Nov-23-19 | | Boomie: That Chrome warning is on a few pages but not most. I can't figure out why certain pages are tagged. For example: GCT Bucharest Rapid & Blitz (2019) |
|
Nov-23-19
 | | Annie K.: <Boomie> can you try different page types (i.e., other tournament pages, game pages, player pages, collection pages, search result pages) and let us know where you get a warning? |
|
| Nov-23-19 | | Boomie: <Annie> It looks like all the tournament pages and player pages are marked. The game pages and others are "clean". |
|
| Nov-24-19 | | Boomie: <jessicafischerqueen: I'm getting a "plug in blocked"> Google Chrome has a notice about Adobe Flash being blocked. But otherwise the page loads normally. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen:
Good evening.
When I post these web links in the edit box for the Alfreds Hartmanis biography , they do not work. They show a "malformed script" notice or "run time error" notice instead: https://lv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfr%... http://www.edochess.ca/players/p481...
When I post them in the player's Kibbutzing box, they work fine. I hope this is not a general error across all the player bios, because there are thousands upon thousands of web links published in those player edit boxes. |

Good afternoon.
Mystery: SOLVED.
In the player edit boxes, if you post a link in which there is no space at the end of the <[html]> then the link will not work: [Edo Chess Hartmanis http://www.edochess.ca/players/p481... But if you leave a space at the end of the <[html ]> then the link will work: [Edo Chess Hartmanis http://www.edochess.ca/players/p481... ] |

 | | OhioChessFan: On my mobile, when I go to a player page, the first page of games shows the Opening. When I click to the following page of games, the Opening is no longer listed. It would be nice to have the Openings listed for all game pages. |

You can have yourself a Scooby Snack.
That's a fact. |
|
| Dec-01-19 | | Boomie: I'm sure this has been mentioned but anything worth doing is worth over doing. The World Junior's ended a month ago. We should have followed it to begin with but at least it should go into the database, eh? |

 | | FSR: <Stonehenge: Blackburne vs Henry F Down, 1874 Down is one of those stop words CG doesn't allow searching for.> Apparently <From> is another such word. This leads to a terrible problem: it is very difficult to find the games of the Danish chess legend Martin Severin From. Search for the player <From> and you are told <Sorry, we have no names that exactly match 'FROM' in our database.>. Look for him in the Player Directory and you find that he's not there. From is the eponym of <From's Gambit>, 1.f4-e5!!, the bane of players named Peter. See P Napetschnig vs F Rhine, 1977 and P Pantelidakis vs F Rhine, 1974. |

 | | OhioChessFan: It would be nice if the Opening of the Day link on the homepage could be directed to: A. a kibitzing page for that general opening, or B. the current default of that exact position in Opening Explorer to be determined by a user setting. |

 | | FSR: I just submitted two essentially identical games. The only difference is that White's name is variously indicated as <Heinzy1971> (the player's handle on chess24.com) and the celebrated NN. Please use the latter. I would appreciate it if you would add this comment/annotation: <4...g5 is the Karklins Gambit, named for its inventor, FM Andrew Karklins.> Thanks! Anyone interested can play over this game at https://www.denverchess.com/games/v.... |
