Feb-14-10  dakgootje: Hehehe, normally I would probably have outplayed them anyways but they were confident enough no-one else knew spanish and thus felt free to tell their hole cards to each other. Online translators go a long way.

Same to you.

Feb-14-10  crawfb5: Happy VD from me and my three girls. They are all very cute, but they are all trouble. Girls are like that. I think three beers would probably be better for me today.

My foamy Ballantine
Sweet sudsy Ballantine
You make me smile with your hops

Did you hear about the English teacher who was moonlighting as a lady of questionable virtue and was arrested for improper conjugation? Convicted, it was a sentence she could not parse.

On to more serious matters. I did a once through on the Fischer video series. You've gotten quite good at panning across the photos for effect. Maybe you can work for Ken Burns after you've served your time in Korea. I also liked the use of maps. That was a nice touch.

I'm not sure if I would have spent that much time setting the mood for 1940s Brooklyn, but that's entirely a matter of taste. I think there is one photo, however, that is much too early (the streetcar at about 0:29). At least one horse-drawn cart is visible in the background.

I would have liked to have seen more text screens. <I> recognized most of BF's opponents, but I'm not sure everyone would. Is your viewer someone who already knows a lot about Fischer, and you're inviting them for a nostalgic trip down memory lane, or is it someone who doesn't know as much, particularly about things prior to the WC match? The latter viewer is going to need a little more guidance than the former.

Were all the game positions shown final positions or critical junctures? Again, a little more text (or animated moves for a critical position) would be helpful.

I know the focus was on Fischer's international career, but his 11-0 US Championship run is worth consideration. You did have a cover shot of Donaldson's book on BF's US simul tour, which followed on the heels of the championship rout.

Overall, a very impressive series. Well done.

<Eyal: ... Looking at the game again, 19.Bxd5! is a key move which shows excellent judgment – Grischuk gives up his "strong" bishop and the "bishop pair" because he realizes that the knight on d5 plays a key role in holding together Black's position.>

MONOKROUSSOS -> http://www.thechessmind.net/storage...

<19.Bxd5

<<<A very "academic" approach: White commits completely to play on the dark squares.>>> In many isolani positions, Black's dark squared bishop is on e7, f8 or f6, and so this sort of plan is easily neutralized, but with the bishop on b4 and queen on e7 White gets a head start.>

Feb-15-10  madnuts123: Hey like the page, alot of hard work here......
anyhow you may be interested in this.....

Hey all,
was wondering if anybody would like to set up a group with me, I am reading the book, Play like a grand master by Alexander Kotov, The book is very good with excellent analogies of the games, tricks tips and strategy, the only thing is (And I know past masters would love to have had chessgames.com at there fingertips)

Although we have the file luxury of this site unfortunately have to find the games and some books have over 300 games add that up and you got a whole bunch of hours,

So what I am proposing is the idea of leverage, for example, almost everybody who uses this site has at least two or three chess books, and most of the rest would have more, some may even read some!!!!!

Anyhow As I read this book/Search out the games, I add them to my favorites with all relevant references like the page number and associated headings, chapters ect ect......

So now you can buy this book online for cheap as chips and k-presto you don't have to do all the legwork of searching......

But the real bonus is exponential growth, If you take one of your books off the shelf and do the same, we can build a community, say 100 books in a year, can you imagine how much time would be saved not to mention the legwork of searching em out.......

However all that time could be reinvested back into the study of the game...... instant access,

Folks.... I look forward to working with you guys and may it bring you the strength you need to Check-Mate

ps check out my post You can see what Im on about!!!!!

jessicafischerqueen: That's a good idea- it's already been done for a lot of books in the form of games collections that match the books. I think that's what you are talking about?

To find out if a book is already done- like "My 60 Memorable Games"- just type the title into the search box on the "games collections" page.

In fact there is an omnibus link on the <ChessBooksForum> hang on I'll go get it

Ok here is the link- it was last updated on <March 24 2009> so keep that in mind: Game Collection: The Chess Book Companion (a meta-collection)

Also, keep in mind that this list of books-become-games collections may be missing some so do type the name of a Book you might want to do in the collections search box before you start the work of compiling games yourself by hand.

Also here is the link to the <ChessBooksForum> for a lot of other Book resources and discussion-
