You are one of this sites greatest assets smart well spoken with good intentions...Mind you you'r occational strong partly emotional posting does not make u look bad at all:). I does the same quite often loool. Pst there is basically 2 things that can seperate civillized well meaning people, politics and religious discussions..I have stepped into the minefield of both many times hehe. Most like it though jews christians muslims and other i gone a round or more with all of em..Only a few have not responded in a good way but majority does...Jess u belongs to that majority thanks for that. Thanks Jessica for u being you, best regards to you and your family:). |

The minority of users who speak Norwegian would have to assume the majority of the responsibility for cleaning things up, if they are to be cleaned at all. A lot of what is reportedly going on at the So page is in a language many of us, admins included, do not understand, so to me, at least, expecting responsible filipinos to help keep their own little corner of the store clean is being practical, not tribal. <Jess> How is a <cue> different from a <queue>? I think I need a <hint> for the correct <line> to take, as it appears I haven't a <clue>. |

Oct-06-11 | | brankat: <Also I had a kind of odd experience on youtube awhile back that made me realize it would be a poor idea to release any biographies on players who were still alive.> Generally, it is a good idea. But there is a drawback. You can't get any extra first hand info, clarifications, confirmations, denials, once the "mark" is gone. It is easier, and probably more fair, too, to do re-editing (if needed) while the target is still breathing:-) <I like my job, but if I was an eccentric millionaire I would spend all day every day researching chess history.> Another 25 years of teaching and saving and You'll be in a position to do just that :-) |
|
Oct-06-11 | | brankat: Back to books. They are more important than either So page, or politics. Two questions:
1. Used books, too, are being sold on Amazon?
2. I seem to remember that a couple of years ago, or so, You played a role in setting up a forum which was to have discussions about chess books as it's main topic. Is the forum still functioning? If so, what's the user-Id? Thanks Jess. |
|
Oct-06-11 | | TheFocus: <Now they are going for 125 bucks at Amazon but I believe <TheFocus> knows online booksellers who offer these Nezh books at reasonable prices.> Nezd's autobiography available for $25 at

<I like my job, but if I was an eccentric millionaire I would spend all day every day researching chess history.> I am not "eccentric." Just uniquely weird. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Branko> yes it's been running almost two years now, here it is User: ChessBookForum We'd welcome any and all reviews or discussions from you on any chess books. In fact, would you like to help administer the page? There are four of us at the moment, but the more people involved the more likely it is the forum gets more use and exposure. <Branko> here is my new email address: jessicafischerqueen@yahoo.com
Send me a fresh email if you like- I don't have your address any more. My old hotmail account got hacked, so for God's sake don't send anything there. Ok back later I'm on lunch hour at work. |

Oct-07-11 | | Boomie: Terrific effort on the Nesh film...clips. The resolution is superb and the narration is flawless. As usual, your choice of images is beautiful. I love the story about the speed player getting waxed by Nesh at Tal's house thinking he's Tal's uncle. That kind of vignette enriches the experience. Oh, and was Tal cute or what? |
|
Oct-07-11
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Tal> was extremely cute, but did you know he was only three feet tall? It's a fact! |
|
Oct-07-11 | | brankat: Jessica,
Thanks for the info and the address. I think I'll visit ChessBookForum often. Mostly to ask questions. I'm hardly able to administer my own everyday life, never mind anything else :-) |
|
Oct-07-11 | | Boomie: <jessicafischerqueen: <Tim: film critic> I'd have preferred you put those encouraging comments on the actual video- can you still do that?> I hear and I obey, my liege. |

Oct-07-11 | | Hugin: Hello Jess perhaps u can use some of this in you'r video production. CHESS MATCHES: FROM LÓPEZ TO KRAMNIK
A file of classical chess games can be downloaded freely. The games are selected from matches, match tournaments and knockout tournaments.
http://www.endgame.nl/match.htm
The site have links to other site with background information as the following. Bogoljubov - Euwe, Netherlands 1928: 5 1/2 - 4 1/2; FIDE championship. When Bogoljubov arrived in Amsterdam, he was arrested as the criminal Liebermann. After his release he sang: "Ich bin ein lieber Mann". |

Oct-07-11 | | crawfb5: I really enjoyed the new videos, or at least as much of them as the dogs would let me see and hear. For the next project could you look into fresher popcorn in the lobby? |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Big Tuna>
Thanks for posting such an encouraging comment- this means a lot to me, given that you are notoriously spare with compliments.Let's just say no one would ever accuse you of idle flattery. However, your reference to "the girls" and "popcorn" have produced a lasting, and unfortunate, image in my mind of <Hugh Hefner> at one of his private screenings in the Mansion. You've never been there, by any chance?
Over time, I'm becoming more and more suspicious that you were the only person who ever read any of my ill-conceived six part series <GREAT MOMENTS IN BAZOOMBAS HISTORY>. Hmmm... |

Oct-08-11 | | crawfb5: <Jess> I'm a man of few words, and only some of them make it past CG's filter. I think I <have> been accused of flat idolatry, but then I so easily confuse <worship> with <warship>. <Hef> "Girls, Daddy wants to watch the game..." Yes, I can see how you might make the connection. The girls have never had popcorn, but to them, whatever I'm eating is worth begging for...but no, I have never visited the mansion. I changed planes at the Chicago airport once or twice, but Hef didn't send a car, so I decided to skip the layover. Here's a <Glee> clip that you could probably include in your series (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p80p...). I'm not wild about the song, but that's why we have MUTE buttons. It's from an episode where a Chinese-American student got an A- on a chemistry exam and his dad went nuts because that's "an Asian F." |
