jessicafischerqueen: Your over there regimen sounds salubrious! Interestingly, in Canada we save time by spelling "music and poker" as "moker." Initially we spelled it "poomus" but that sounded a little too declasse, even for us...

jessicafischerqueen: Repost from <Niels>, so much more eloquent than simply a list of 4 guidelines:

<"...anyone posting here at CG is a <<<guest>>>, enjoying the comforts and facilities the webmasters have arranged for them in good faith, expecting civil behavior, and barring the occasional loss of temper, any self-respecting "normal" adult should just control his/her impulses and behave respectfully.">

jessicafischerqueen: <branko> Yes, he certainly did- that quote from him is in the documentary, as well as quotes from Tal and Dr. Euwe.

Oct-09-11  achieve: <Jess> I watched your superlative "all new Nezh vid" in its entirety this morning, twice, and also left a comment on youtube.

Congrats on a tremendous joint effort!

Oct-09-11  crawfb5: <N> Even though she credits us, Jess does almost all the work. With the exception of Richard, who does the voiceovers, we mostly feed her raw material...and sometimes raw meat...
Oct-09-11  achieve: <raw meat> hehe - that may explain why Jess stays so committed to credit you ;p
Oct-09-11  Thanh Phan: <Jessicafisherqueen> the Nezhmetdinov chess biography videos are great!

I love how much more the "You are there" feeling from watching compared to just reading

Would have liked and comment a bit sooner yet I was some busy with computer classes. lol

chancho: <Jess> Here's a pdf I found on Rudolf Spielmann:

http://www.thechesslibrary.com/book...

There's a lot of information there you'll find of interest.

chancho: <“The faculty…of converting energy into matter and matter into energy, constitutes one of the most wonderful characteristics of chess. …The question: ‘How can I favorably turn matter into energy?’ occurs as a rule in the early phase of the game; the converse is more likely to obtain for the later phase.”

Rudolf Spielmann

The above quote is in the pdf as well as other quotes.

Oct-09-11  Travis Bickle: Here's a song by ELO who started out trying to sound like The Beatles far out songs such as I Am The Walrus.

Oct-09-11  crawfb5: Here's the finish to a game just completed this morning.

crawfb5-NN (Black to move)

Black should probably try 36...Kh8, although I don't think he has any real answer to something like Rh3 and Rg3.

36...Rxf3 37.gxf3 Qxe1+ 38.Kg2 Qxc3

Giving up the Rook for two minor pieces and probably hoping if I pick up the Knight with 39. Qe8+ that he can create play with his pawns, but I have something better.

39.Rxh6

Now there is no escape. He overlooks the mate threat at e8, but nothing else works.

39...Qxd4 40.Qe8# 1-0

Oct-09-11  technical draw: <<Dear TD> My parents gave me a used Ford Rambler for my birthday.

Should I sue?

Justin Bieber>

Dear Justin. Sue? Are you crazy? Your parents are paupers compared to you (and you future earnings). Payback is the best course. Embarrass them as they have embarrassed you. I say drive that Rambler! Go to every "A" list party in it. Go to the Oscars, everywhere. Soon they'll be begging you to total it. And once you total it get yourself a a used Yugo. And once they move to Bolivia get yourself that Ferrari, you know the one with no speedometer. And gee whiz Bieb, don't let them holler at you in public anymore , I'm embarrassed to be your publicist., uh, I mean Dear TD.

Oct-09-11  brankat: <jessica> I'm most thankful for Your help Jess, old friend.
Oct-09-11  brankat: <jessicafischerqueen> A little treat for You:

An insight into a chessplayer's mind.

1. "Slump? I ain't in no slump. I just ain't winning".

2. "If you can't imitate a GM, don't copy him."

3. "You got to be very careful if you don't know where you're going, because you might not get there."

4. "How can you play "chess", and think at the same time?"

5. "In theory there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice there is."

6. "If people don't want to "play chess", how are you going to stop them?"

7. "I don't want to make a wrong mistake."
