Nov-17-11  waustad: As usual the Nezhmetdinov videos were delightful. I confess that from the point of view of a Bass/Baritone (much more the latter, but I tried as a youth), seeing Kazan and music to me means Varlaam in Boris Godunov.

Amazing that Hansen and Aronian *both* missed this tactical sequence.

Nov-18-11  playground player: <Jessicafischerqueen> Hope you're feeling a lot better by now! Too bad I've already sent you "The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins." It'd cheer you up, as you reflect on how happy you are that you're not Leonard Nimoy. Maybe I can find something just as edifying...
Nov-18-11  crawfb5: <It'd cheer you up, as you reflect on how happy you are that you're not Leonard Nimoy.>

Could be worse. Could be William Shatner.

Nov-18-11  playground player: <crawfb5> The animation doesn't do justice to the real awfulness of Shatner performing a song. Here he is, in the flesh, torturing an audience with "Rocket Man":

jessicafischerqueen: <doggimus> you mean someone saw the post on the Nezh page and made the corrections before you got there?

How dare they! I bet it was that rascally <Phony Benoni> or <stonehenge>.

Actually I haven't seen Stony around for a while I hope he's well.

He's been on a five year campaign to bring the player bios up to scratch, as you know, one of our best men.

I vote still vote <doggimus> however.

You live in Milford, Connecticut unless I'm mistaken. Are you in the Kayak rental business? I have a friend in Milford who manages a Kayak rental outfit.

It's called "Squid pro quo" so maybe you've heard of it even if you don't work there.

Domdaniel: BTW, I've been watching more of your vids. Nezh is superb. Never knew he was actively Muslim or that his brother was a famous poet.

As you know, I've sat through many classics of Russian cinema, especially Late Soviet Miserabilism like Klimov's 'Come and See' and Tarkovsky's 'Mirror', about the horrors of a Stalin-era wartime childhood. These are about three hours long. You can achieve similar effects in 3 mins.

You are the soft-boiled egg of Russian history, my dear. The <Tarka the Auteur> of YewChoob.

A film/art/Walmart Critic (so there!).

jessicafischerqueen: <Wayne> looks fascinating- they are Polish eh? I've just bookmarked their channel in order to check out their journalism. They have good production values in that trailer.

The <Krzymowski> family. Sounds like a good chess name, Poland has a very rich history in chess as you know.

I wonder if they are prodigies, or just journalists?

Nov-20-11  Albertan: <<Wayne> looks fascinating- they> < are Polish eh? I've just > <bookmarked their channel in > <order to check out their > <journalism. They have good> < production values in that trailer.>

Actually Jessica, they are all from Sweden. From their website:"Antonia and Amelia Krzymowska (21-17) and Alfred and Albert Krzymowski (16 and 14) created the idea and concept of the show." Yes their production is excellent and well-organized! They are very enthusiastic too!

<The <Krzymowski> family. Sounds> < like a good chess name, Poland > <has a very rich history in chess as> <you know.>

Yes most certainly!

<I wonder if they are prodigies, or> <just journalists?>

Two of the males (Alfred and Albert) must have played in at least one FIDE rated tournament as you can find their names in the FIDE ratings list at:

http://ratings.fide.com/search.phtm...

At the website I found this:

"Adriana studies law at Stockholm’s University, hoping to achieve the Swedish Master of Laws Degree by the end of 2010. Antonia and Amelia are both in upper secondary school, attending Östra Reals Gymnasium with a law-alignment, and the brothers are in compulsory school."

They have been doing this for a while as the website indicates that the group just completed their 352 episode of the show! I have been watching them for a while and I really enjoy the show I am sure you will too.

jessicafischerqueen: Here is my debut as a chess writer, on National Master <William Stewart's> website- http://www.onlinechesslessons.net/

Will's site has feature articles that include text, photos, game annotations, games on a playable chess viewer, and video links, all on the same page.

Here is the first article I did on "Nezhmetdinov and Tal":

http://www.onlinechesslessons.net/2...

And here is the video analysis <Will Stewart> did for the page, on <Nezhmetdinov-Tal Baku 1961>: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MR5f...

I'm currently writing a second, longer article about <Akiva Rubinstein>.

I'd like to suggest the death penalty for people who send emails like these. This is how pedophile rings get Grandmothers to offer up their personal computers as drones.

Nov-20-11  hms123: <Jess>

I just got something similar on from a phony PayPal service account. Unfortunately for them, it was sent to my work email, which is not the one I use for PayPal.

Thanks for the alert.
