That Was the Week That Was is also worth a look. News satire plus the music of Tom Lehrer equals the best of Saturday Night Live. |

In the 80s "My Favorite Year" was a great movie about making a live episode of "Your Show of Shows," based on a time Tyrone Power (played by Peter O'Toole) has stage fright and won't go on live TV. "That was the Week that was" (TW3) was a funny satire show, opening with a Nancy Ames song recapping the news of the week. David Frost was the host, and Buck Henry and Phyllis Newman were in the cast. |
