Annie K.: <Jess> on important TOP SECRET news, here's this week's horoscope: the stars notified me (by email) that an auspicious movement of Mysterious Booklets has occurred, wherein all four have become perfectly aligned in the Publishing House. This signifies great wealth and prosperity, mostly of the obscure information kind.

PS - I have of course ordered them at once. ;D

2) Tournament Index -- links to tournament pages, arranged chronologically, so what would be of most interest would be on the first few pages.

Yes, good idea! I actually whipped up a lesson on that thanks to your timely telling me about it. How do you feel about the popular "Indian Style" version? Many parodies of a song that was a parody to begin with.

  jessicafischerqueen: <In a Big Hurry> Thank you so much~!

You know when Daniel comes up with a great idea and then involves all of his hardy volunteer staff in the realization of that idea, the results can be spectacularly great. I think this is one of those times.

What a great Commander in Chief. Kind of makes me feel guilty for hysterically yelling at him so often.

This feature is only at our website and it's because Daniel was smart enough to put the right volunteers on the case, and because of the years of dedicated hard work the volunteers have put into enriching this website.

This place is now a chess historian's dream.

I think we should all take the day off work and get drunk.

Looks like I picked a bad decade to quit drinking and get a real job.

Game Collection: Mannheim 1914 - the unfinished tournament

Remember some time ago we had a discussion of the three missing games here in your forum?

They are probably lost forever.

One more thing- I noticed that in a few of the new collections, the missing games render the flagship tournament standings inaccurate.

Only the crosstable is accurate in these cases.

But some of the crosstables don't have the printed order of finish, as in 1,2,3 and so on, with the points as well.

I think that's crucial, so punters can see at a glance where people finished.

We don't want people to have to do actual calculation of a crosstable to see the exact results.

It's bad enough that existing technology forces us to list an inaccurate tournament result due to missing games.

<Alekhine's> last tournament in Russia. I have loads of rare material about this one.

jessicafischerqueen: For example, <PB and J> notes that many of the games are missing. One of the reasons for this may have been that there was almost no paper available in Russia.

Astonishing- yet true. Alekhine received a certificate printed on a dried herring.
