| Jan-05-13 | | chessmoron: Hey <jess>, ...was wondering if you had time for my previous movie recommendation. Check out...ALSO: <The Imposter> (a documentary about the infamous con man who impersonate missing child. What the film is great at is how the con man deceptively manipulates a family, the police [twice], and YOU [the viewer]) <Safety Guaranteed> (Aubrey Plaza is so mesmerizing awkward and it is so infectious plus all the characters in the film are written beautifully) <Compliance> (a tough to swallow and extremely dark film. It's based on the strip search prank call scam in Bullitt county McDonald's. Here's the real thing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QqUm... ) |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <McLovin> I forgot your previous recommendation, so please give it again. I watched <Safety Guaranteed> for Aubrey Plaza, as she is my favorite actress at the moment. She was great but the script suffered from lack of verisimilitude. This is very hard to get right, and they didn't here. I did enjoy the film though. I have <The Imposter> but I haven't watched it yet. I was going to get <Compliance> but the description sounded so horrifying that I wondered if I wanted to sit through it. Did you see <Catfish> about a famous, and extremely embarrassing, internet prank? |
|
| Jan-05-13 | | chessmoron: <jessica> My previous recommendation was "Shanghai Calling" starring American born South Korean soap actor Daniel Henney, Eliza Coupe, and Bill Paxton. Re: <Safety Not Guaranteed> Before I went to see it, I already read about the real classified ad that the movie was based on. So I kinda of expected something sci-fi-ish in the movie. I do like Aubrey but Jennifer Lawrence (Silver Linings Playbook...which I love though there were too much shots of her bum and cleavage) is my favorite actress. Do watch <The Imposter>! The movie lived up to it's title. Even though <Compliance> may be hard to watch, it is important film which parallels our current political culture. Real or not, <Catfish>, for me is deceptively manipulative. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Can we shoot at it?> Aha ok thanks <McLovin> I have <Silver Linings Playbook> coming in now. I certainly will watch <The Imposter> and I have a very high resolution copy of it as well, so I'm really looking forward to seeing it. I agree about <Catfish>, by the end of the film I'd have been happy to slap the director/actors or even kick them in the nutz. Very smug group. Ok I will show <Compliance> by getting it and watching it. It better be good. Remember how I had to pester you to watch <The Dead Girl>? Finally you said "Ok I'll watch it but if it's no good I will kill you." heh
good times. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Doggimus> impressive! As usual, you and <Ohio> have done yourselves, and our website, proud. I should also tell you that I deleted the sentence from <Alekhine> biography that said he lost his fortune in the stock market crash. I figured it was ok to do this since it was me who actually supplied this "information" to begin with. Until you, me or anyone else finds a reliable source that suggests this is actually true, I think we should leave it out of the bio. |
|
| Jan-06-13 | | twinlark: Agreed. That's fine. Good to see you've bio writes. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Ohio> are you referring to the squabbling on the "Caissar Page"? I think you said all that anyone needs to say about that four or five years ago as I recall. You said something like "He actually cares about getting the award." Heh...
At least the long suffering <MannBee> doesn't have to put up with this crap any more. On a brighter note, love that blue ink.
QUESTION: would the world be more interesting if every word were its own hyperlink? I believe it would. |

There is something mysterious and exciting about the blue links. I've told some people not on the site about it, and they pretty much have said "Huh?". |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Ohio> I always click on every link in the blue sentences. The most recent one by date (or so I thought) spooked me a bit more than usual because of the timing on it. Four of them are the "one dayers" we've discussed before, but look at the date on User: WHAT <links

Member since Jan-06-12 · Last seen Jan-06-12> It was made in the last 24 hours. When I first saw that I immediately wondered if you'd created it yourself because you needed the word for the sentence. There'd be nothing wrong with that as far as I'm concerned, but all the same I really doubted that you did that. Then I realized that it was not made in the last 24 hours, it was made almost exactly a YEAR ago- I'd mistaken 2012 for 2013, our current year. My second thought went back to before, about when we considered the motivation behind these "one dayers" and the one word user names so many of them feature. Is someone trying to build the English language in blue? And if so, are they still on the job? Is there more than one person? Do they meet in a chat room to plan? Why are they doing it? Why have they chosen this website? |
