First, the cool voice of the introducer, and the track is simply outstanding. It's "hybrid monkey" status is a happy bonus of course. I sense our <Brocho> will appreciate this vinyl. I'm going to pass it to him. "Are you ready (are you ready)?" |

I hope you don't mind me approaching you with more general questions form time to time. Here is one: <We should always be striving to present the facts and let the reader draw her own inferences.> I've seen this more often lately in newer publications. Has this become standard now or is it up to the author, whether the anonymous reader is a <he> or <she>? I mean, is this now convention or does it also represent a statement in a way? E. g. would <reader> coupled with <He> denote a Ted Nugent type of author or still be neutral? |

 | | WCC Editing Project: <Ted Nugent>?
This guy here you mean? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nW8S... I don't know what other people are thinking about this issue. Possibly there is a feminist practice of using "she" because there is no neutral pronoun for people and feminists got tired of "he" being the automatic default pronoun. I do it for more personal reasons. I'm a "she" and I like to think of myself as the center of the universe, so it's more narcissism than feminism in my case. I also like doing it because it annoys some people. Sometimes I use "he" for a change, just to annoy myself. Seriously though, I think nowadays it's up to the author which pronoun she wants to use in her work. There's no law against it, but I'm not sure if it's an official convention in some circles. It probably is but I'm out of academia for 7 years now, so I care less and less about what they think. I had no idea you were a Ted Nugent fan. |

 | | WCC Editing Project: <Karpova> you can approach me any time with any kind of question you like, including TOP SECRET questions via email. |
|
| Sep-10-13 | | Karpova: <Jess>
Thanks for the answer! Yes, I guess that's the Ted Nugent I was referring to, but no, I'm not exactly a fan. He was just a good example of someone, ahem, proposing more "traditional" gender roles. But I'm not really paying attention to him. Regarding the <he> and <she>, I guess that I will give both a fair share, so that no one feels excluded. |

<BEIJING, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- People who post slanderous comments online in China will face up to three years in prison if their statements are widely reposted, according to a judicial interpretation issued on Monday. The document, released by the Supreme People's Court(SPP) and the Supreme People's Procuratorate, stipulates that people will face charges of defamation if online rumors they create are visited by more than 5,000 Internet users or retweeted for more than 500 times.> http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/c... | | WCC Editing Project: <Thanh> Korea already put similar laws in place after a high profile celebrity committed suicide due to "nasty internet rumors" going viral. Nobody has been prosecuted with these laws yet, though. That's the "Korean style." "Official Korea" is very harsh.
"Unofficial Korea" is like Disneyland.
Example: My official status is E-2 Visa working resident, and as such I am subject to any and all laws of Korea. This means I'm not even allowed to post on the internet without first confirming my real identity with the government, who then issues me one user name (my real name) that I must use on every internet post, anywhere on the internet. I have never followed this law. |
