jessicafischerqueen: <Travis> thanks for such a detailed and informative response.

Yes finding things on youtube these days- this is what's happening there:

Currently, the Copyright Lobby is gaining traction and power, and they are using this new power to demand more share of youtube ad revenue.

Youtube (owned by Google) is allowing many of the videos to be deleted or restricted from certain countries, instead of paying a greater share of advertising profit from those videos to the copyright holders.

Is <Paris Jackson> the heir who inherited copyright on all of Paul and John's music?

Maybe we should write her a letter lol.

Thanks for such detailed info on the youtubers adding animation and messing around with original Beatles videos. I was wondering about that.

Did you notice, despite Beatles tunes being down on the top 100 list, they still had many more songs on the list than anyone else.

They always had great popular and critical success.

Why? They were geniuses.

jessicafischerqueen: <Ohio> thanks for that "Leaving on a Jet Plane" and yes, this is hard evidence for your notorious claim that only *you* can tell which music fits into the highly controversial new genre "Anti-Screwhead" music.

That's a bossanova rhythm line, no?

You can't go wrong with bossanova.

I have a nova bossa at my new school and I almost strangled her on Friday for demanding that I learn to speak Korean.

I felt like shoving my contract down her throat, but demurred, not out of any kind of self restraint (I have none), but because then she couldn't read it. Not that she could anyway since she has kindergarten English, at best, despite being in charge of the English Department.

Oh well I shouldn't complain, if it wasn't like that they wouldn't hire us foreign devils in the first place.

I'm replaying the song now to help calm down. Going into work Monday morning in a pre-psychotic rage is just bad for business all round.

Ahhhhh so lovely you are correct. No Screwheads, no screwheads....

"I don't know when I'll be back again..."

Here is song for you- please tell me if it is in the "Anti-Screwhead" genre or not?

heh...

Thanks for the Stones too, but <Simon le Tbon> passed that track to me the day I named my forum "Hybrid Nut Monkey."

I must say I feel privileged to be learning so much about Hybrid Nut Monkeys and Screwhead theory.

Possibly we should prepare an article for <Scientific American>, or possibly an even more respected journal such as the <National Enquirer>?

Domdaniel: Tubes? White Punks on Dope? Ahhh...
I once wrote a daft story about an insane terrorista type who planned to set off nuclear bombs in religious sites (Jerusalem, Mecca, Rome, Salt Lake City...) in the hope of releasing particles of radioactive sanctity. Or something like that. I wanted to call it 'White Chunks of Pope' but was persuaded this was in bad taste.

Not that bad taste usually stops me, eh?
Chacun son goo.

Sep-16-13  Thanh Phan: That Series of Tubes Music Video is one song type that can help wake someone up, even if it is repeats a bit much, kind of cheerful in a too hyper way ^.^
Sep-16-13  TheFocus: Well, here is the project I have chosen for the rest of 2013 and into 2014 (I know I won't be done). Although the site has a nice record of recording Men's World Championships, the women have been given the short shaft for far too long.

Game Collection: WWC MetaCollection

Besides this, I am going to input dates for all the Olympic games, men's and women's.

That should keep me out of trouble!!

That's an excellent idea and an ambitious project too. Are you going to research and write introductions to each event? If you do that, I think Cg.com would be happy to make an official "Women's WCC" page eh?

  WCC Editing Project: arghh

YOU KNOW YOU'VE DRUNK TOO MUCH COFFEE WHEN:

You are startled by the sound of your kitchen drain violently backing up and whip your head around to see if it's flooding. At this point you realize the sound came from your own stomach.

Good Heavens...

Sep-16-13  TheFocus: I am going to try and introduce intros for each event. The material is out there, it just needs to be brought together.

<If you do that, I think Cg.com would be happy to make an official "Women's WCC" page eh?>

That would be wonderful. In my preparations, I found that Grand Prix tournament, <Nalchik 2010> did not have an official Historical Page. I notified Daniel Freeman about it already. He said he would look into it.

WCC Editing Project: <TheFocus> with all due respect to our benevolent webmaster, I think it better if you look in to it, with or without the help of your colleagues.

I suspect Daniel would like it even better if he didn't have to look into it.

Sep-16-13  TheFocus: No, ALL the rest had been made into Historical Pages when they were played. Therefore, I asked Daniel about it and should I nominate it.

Daniel said "no" because it was after 2001 so I could not nominate it anyway. He will look into it and automatically change it.

Sep-17-13  Alien Math: <Kanatahodets: When I play chess on-line and lose the game I attribute it to anything: my wife asked me if I want to eat, my kids play too loud, my wife vacuums the room, my cat comes to my office, my dog barks at "stupid" neighbor - who is the nicest guy by the way. And I am angry at all of them separately and together. Then I accuse my opponent in cheating...> Annoy type owns a tournament page, troll any who dispute its viewpoint.

jessicafischerqueen: <Brocho> 3 song Santana jam!

Fabulous. I love guitar heroes and he's definitely in the top tier. Maybe a little underrated in rock history too, not just in terms of his guitar work but also the groovy rhythm section, particularly the use of multiple percussion instruments.

Here is one of my favorite performances from musicians of the "Woodstock Era":

I just noticed this connection between "Canned Heat" and one of your favorite bands, "Jamquiriquorika":

WCC Editing Project: <Hanh> I do have it archived, I have everything archived and backed up in three different physical locations in two different countries.

In addition, the original Alekhine video was ripped and re-uploaded with Spanish subtitles by some Senor who will now be able to misinform a whole generation of Spanish chess fans about our <Johnny Alekhine>.

You know one of the reasons there are so many tall tales about Johnny is that Johnny himself was an inveterate liar. I'd say even a pathological liar, he used to lie to reporters for fun.

I have primary source documentation for this. He spent so much time on the road doing simul tours, getting the same exact questions in an interview in each new location, that he started deliberately mixing up the details in his answers. He'd give directly contradictory answers to different reporters in different cities, depending on his mood.

But that's why I love Johnny. Deeply, deeply flawed, but did that man have heart. Tons of heart. Courage. Monomania. The Captain Ahab of chess history.

WCC Editing Project: Heh... you're reminding me of "The Third Policeman," an extraordinarily interesting story considering it's impossible to "identify" with any of the characters, particularly the protagonist.

Is it Molloy or Malone where they play the chess game in which neither side is willing to advance past the third rank? And the one guy actually moves his knights and bishops out, then returns them to their starting places? Bloody Beckett. Maybe Murphy. You see I only read one of them, the one with the fake chess game with fake annotations.

I'm going to guess Molloy then. Do I win a bun?

Domdaniel: < Maybe Murphy> The game is Murphy-Endon. Brian O'Nolan/ Flann O'Brien/ Myles (with whose brother 'The Prof' I played some chess games in the 1970s) used to claim that he had once beaten Alekhine.
