"meta meta"
That's a good question, and it got me thinking. How do we prove who is who in the sock world? I've been convinced before I knew a sock, but there's always some doubt. What did "meta meta" post and where? |
|
| Nov-16-13 | | MarkFinan: Hi Jess.. meta meta was someone who posted in TheFocus forum! So... after coming back as Greengrass and kolyas I was thinking it may be him? Btw. Delete my above post if you wish, I know im not the author but it's still an attack on you and trav. ✌ |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: Thanks <Mark>-
No worries. I don't mind what others say about me. In my opinion, the entire website is crazy, including myself, so I'm trying to take some recent advice I saw <Annie K> give= that it's not necessary to "take a stance" on everything. I'm going to try not taking a stance on anything and see how that works out. As you know, I only come here to do chess history work and gas around with my mates. Anything outside of that doesn't interest me, at least not at the moment. I reckon <tbone> can speak for himself on this topic. If he says the post bothers him I'll delete it. |
|
| Nov-18-13 | | MarkFinan: Ey up Jess. Okay, cards on the table time. Do you really think there has been 2 "TheFocus's"?? Im not asking you to take no stance on anything, I'm certainly not asking you to take any sides either, I'm just curious as to what you think? That search kibitzing function has really opened my eyes. To a few people! I can't wait till Thursday is over with, I'm up for sentencing (I don't see the need to lie about it now! Still think im being made an example of over something very petty! ) so I may be taking a few forced months away from here, but even if I get a good result I plan on another break. Although this time ill let people like Rogge and you know. These fantasy tough guy's who run crying to the staff if they get a deserved bollocking really get on my nerves. Like Annie said, I should really have better things to do, and I couldn't agree more after Thursday, but so should they when they were acting up themselves, right? It's karma, and it gets every single one of us at some point. Well it's his turn! Like he's writing a book! It's been years and years he's been saying it, but he still thinks people believe him. He shouldn't have picked up the ball if he doesn't want to play. And please Jess, no "fence sitting" this time. A simple yes or no answer will do for me. ✌ |

I'm sorry you have to do the bit. Stay safe and I know you aren't too worried about it. Sounds pretty annoying to me though, and I agree from what you've told me that it's a ridiculously overblown and totally unnecessary charge in the first place. I'm afraid I don't really know one way or the other about how many people <The Focus> is. Just going on memory over the years, he has publicly said he is up to 4 different people? I doubt that he is 4 people. As for 2 different people, I think that's more possible. But I doubt that too. I'm skeptical about the "someone else used/has access to my account" defense, which is used often on the internets when punters are called on something they wrote. I usually think it's about as reliable an excuse as "The dog ate my homework." So there could be more than one person using his account, but I don't think so. "The Focus" has always "sounded like" one person to me. I can tell you one thing for sure- with regard to everything I have ever said to him or about him on this website, I have assumed he was one person and treated him as if he were one person. Why would I assume any different? It's too tiring to think of any more than one punter behind a given avatar. Also, I don't give a rat's ass how many people he is or isn't. At the end of the day one person was responsible for creating that account, and in my view that same person remains responsible for anything said through that account, whether more than one person had access to it or not. On an unrelated point- whatever the reason for it, I think <The Focus'> phone call to <AJ> was so startling that it seemed miraculous to me. I think it has produced a very good result as well. Anyways I'm glad he did it. |
|
| Nov-18-13 | | MarkFinan: "As reliable as the dog ate my homework excuse" looooooool 😃 And believe it or not, I agree with everything you just said! And yeah I ain't too worried about Thursday, it's nowhere I haven't been before, it's the not knowing that gets to me. The irony of getting probation here and maybe in real life too, haha. Isn't that art imitating life, or some crazy oxyaj? ;) We will see. I have everything on the outside prepared just in case. But after this..... I don't think ill ever try park illegally, lol. Once they have it in for you they really have it in for you over here. ✌ |
|
| Nov-20-13 | | MarkFinan: Ey up Jess.. I was just going through search kibitzing and came across someone called "LMOJ" !!
At the time someone was saying it was me, Lennonfan, but I assure you that wasn't me and I just wandered if it ever came out who it was??
And I see the real LMOJ posted in your forum back in 07 that he was going to report your "behaviour" haha. Before my time, so I won't even ask what he was on about lol. ✌ |
|
| Nov-20-13 | | MarkFinan: I've been trying to find my old chess teacher on the nutterweb, I've already looked on facebook a few years ago so I've been checking chess sites and I just can't find him anywhere. His name is Stephen Betts (could be Steven!) and I just wandered in all your time here if you'd ever come across that name? I'd ask tips but he answers in riddles! ✌
I guess he could be dead! He wouldn't have even been 60 though. |

He's a great story teller even when he's not singing eh? It's no worries <Tbone> I think everyone's nerves have been a little frayed. It looks like things around here may "naturally" have worked out for some reason. Maybe because Christmas is coming!
Thank GHOD. (literally)
I hope <Ohio> comes back soon- I know he doesn't like the constant arguing any more than we do. We need the honorable member from <Ohio>. Merry Christmas <Travis>! Here is a fine Biblical allegory song from Leonard Cohen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUXC...
<"And Jesus was a sailor
When He walked upon the water
And He spent a long time watching
From his lonely wooden tower,
And when He knew for certain
Only drowning men could see Him
He said
<<<All men will be sailors then, until the sea shall free them> >> But He Himself was broken
Long before the sky would open
Forsaken, almost human,
He sank beneath your wisdom
Like a stone."> |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Deffi> Yes it's a sad day in <Chocolate Chip, India>. I saw you were actually close to the venue, but didn't have time to go there? I didn't expect <Fly Vishing Expedition> to win, but it's too bad we didn't see more resistance. No shame on <Vish Upon a Star> though, losing to <Maggie Glynnenhall>. She appears to be a force of nature now.
I think we can still expect more great chess from our ex-champion <Vicodin Asprin>, after he gets a chance to rest. I really don't see him retiring.
Remember how much great chess <Vladivostok Cranberry> had left in him after he lost the title match against <Delicious Nanbread>. Actually if anything <Candlestick> seemed to play better chess after he lost to <The Nanny>. I was sad for <The Nanny> too though. I thought he had a chance against <The Magistrate>. |

| Nov-23-13 | | Travis Bickle: Hey Jess here's 2 more songs by Leonard Cohen from a very good but unconventional western directed by Robert Altman called McCabe & Mrs Miller. It starred Warren Beatty & Julie Cristie from 1971. The '70's were full of great movies! Winter Lady

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Travis> Andy Kaufman LOL! Where did that come from? I was expecting to see the real Elvis doing standup. "Twilight Alehouse"
Thanks <tbone> yes that's one of the most interesting videos which was recorded live in a Belgian TV studio and broadcast while they were doing it. It's an "anti-alcoholic" song, and like some of the other recordings from this "live" session, they are all over the place compared to studio work. It is kind of like a jam session as you say, partly because no matter how much rehearsal time they put in, their music was more complicated than their technical skills could keep up with. Many changes in time signature in the same song, Pete's penchant to drift out of tune and improvise his phrasing to name too. Pete's live "wandering" used to drive Phil so crazy he was all for killing him. After a live performance of "Supper's Ready" a fan told Steve Hackett that he had "brought me closer to God." Steve replied "I was just trying to play the right notes." With respect to their final tour for "The Lamb," Pete reckoned they got the musical coordination right onstage "about 3 times." Not as bad as the Beatles problems with primitive monitors, Genesis still had a very imperfect system of monitors and they often couldn't hear what the other musicians were doing well enough. Nowadays groups have "bluetooth ear muffs" and "digital onstage mixing" and such so that all members have the equivalent of a perfect monitoring system. |

My favorite Andy Kaufman was his Foreign Man character singing "Mighty Mouse". The change from frightened man to super mouse just kills me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kGx9... |
