  jessicafischerqueen: <dak>

I'm a little surprised to hear a Dutchman say "Cheese is overrated."

I havarti found cheese to be gouda, myself.

Dec-02-13  Boomie: <Jesstickles>

The Dutch's disdain for cheese is a feta compli.

Dec-02-13  achieve: Hey, anyone who doesn't love cheese is crazy, just the facts. There are so many kinds and flavours...

Hi, <Jess> - was just thinking of you and your collection, as I today stumbled on a collector's edition of New In Chess at the time of Corus 2008, when the news broke of the great player's passing -- had it of course for years on my bookshelf, but just now realized how full it is of top quality and novel-ish info about Bobby and just a ton of interesting literature, really, and I wondered if you have been a subscriber to NIC, and especially with regard to this isuue 2008/2, I thought this was a relevant bit... But now I have this deja-vu-y feeling that I may have told you this before... ?? !!

  jessicafischerqueen: What ho <Niels>!

I don't remember you telling me that before, but Jinx! I have been trying to collect as many free NICs as I can find. Not much luck though, and I don't have the Corus 2008 issue, which sounds tasty indeed.

What's your final verdict on the showdown in <Chocolate Chip, India>?

I was somewhat surprised that <V.K. Rowling> didn't put up more resistance against <Magga>, but I think most of the world figured <Magga> would likely win this match.

If not this one, then the next one.

I have a suspicion it might be difficult for anyone to unseat <Magga> any time soon.

I watched many of his press conferences and I really like his "public persona."

Well spoken, soft spoken, not bragging but certainly recognizing his strengths and rightly taking pride in his achievements.

I think <Magga> is already a fine ambassador for the great sport of <Cheese>.

Dec-02-13  achieve: Heh - yes the cheese pun was there for the taking... To be honest if you want to I would send you my copy of NIC 2008/2 if you mailed me your address, but it ought to be possible to just order it if you want it badly, and the tasty bits I could quote, too.

Again to be honest re Anand-Magget - I was disappointed in the level of play, may sound weird, but my excitement drifted, elsewhere, and both suffered of nerves as Carlsen admittsed, especially early on; but to me the match never really "took off" theway I had hoped, and frankly stayed quite a distance from that, which would be my most pessimistic answer.

Maybe it will grow on me in the future, but the repetitions had me biting my nails in a way.

Whahahaha

I have nothing further to add :D

Dec-03-13  achieve: <Jess> Indeed, the piece by DJ ten Geuzendam in NIC is superbe, as he literally immerses himself in the icelandic community to search for accounts and testimony by the locals who very much loved him and respected the 72 champ, prominently perhaps are Einar Einarsson, and Saemi Palsson, featured extensively in the article, with many recollections that are priceless to the real Fischer fan and just interested reader researcher of this phenomenon.

There is so much of super high value that I can hardly begin to highlight them, but certainly they are worthy of your attention, and in fact I think you would just love to read the material, and incorporate it into whatever you are doing, or just for yourself, as a fan/historian.

If I had a scanner I would just copy and mail you the pages.
