  jessicafischerqueen: <harry> heh....

Howay Harry maybe time to drop a great song in <Travis'> forum? I think he might of got a little heated a few days ago, maybe from fighting with inveterate meatheads like <HeMateMe> who seem to think riling our <Travis> up is a national sport or something.

I wish <I Hate Him> would quietly retire, or something. Or quit provoking <Travis> at least.

Anyways peace to you and all.

Here is "Cico Buff," one of the finest tracks on the very fine <Cocteau Twins> record "Blue Bell Knoll":

Well who knew he used to be in <Manfred Man>, or that he was a German?

This track works only as unintended parody for me- way too much "Cliff Richard" vibe.>

This is a million miles away from Cliff Richard Jess ! IMO ..

I love the strings at the beginning and love Paul Jones ! lol

I'll defer to your judgment, since I'm not a "Jump off the Cliff Richard" expert and I'm certainly not a <Paul Jones> expert.

I respect your taste in music too much to quibble with your judgment.

All I can say, that track didn't grab me when I listened to it. We may have to agree to disagree...

I have no problem disagreeing whilst admitting you know more about this one.

Well since the construction workers outside my apartment appear to be sawing the next flat in half with a giant power saw, I have "Treasure" on FULL BLAST and it's on <Lorelei> right now.

I'm noticing one of the reasons this song sounds so "hip and swinging" to me is that <Liz Frazer's> vocal is always coming in on the down beat of the fantastic COCTEAU DRUM MACHINE N' BASS complex.

She stays on the down beat throughout too, so it's almost like there are two parallel tracks going at the same time in CONTRAPUNT if that's a word.

I know PUNTER is a word. I'm a <Cocteau Twins> punter, or I would be if they reformed and came to do a show in Korea.

I'm not an expert on music theory, but I frequently tell people I am.

jessicafischerqueen: <Harry> we may have to hold off on the chess till I get back in Canada.

I have to clean my house and it's a disgrace, and I have to pack and also make sure I have made enough lesson plans to keep the rugrats off my back when I return from vacation.

I'm off out in a minute, then back later for a 20 hour "nap" when the construction workers get tired of working, or get killed by a gigantic mutant lizard.

Unless TV and movies have lied to me, these things happen sometimes.

At any rate on a rare serious note I'm not in a good physical or emotional state to play chess for the time being.

Soon enough, though, I will be chess hungry again.

I set off in search of Alan Benson (nee malthrope). So far I haven't found anything disturbing except for this site http://marspolaris.tripod.com/bookc.... Al is such a chipmunk that it is inconceivable to me that he would sell his enormous collection. And yet, there it is.

Having Al help with the CG history initiative would be a big plus. Perhaps you can entice him back.

There was another member who did in fact find <Mal> posting at another chess site some two years after <Annie> and I had bought him a two year membership.

One day after we renewed his membership- the very next day in fact- he never again posted at <Cg.com>.

I think it's obvious he chose to leave for good, and perhaps it's best to let "sleeping Mals lie."

Though I agree- he was golden and he left a gigantic MAL SIZED vacuum when he left. Speaking for myself, I loved him. Never a cross word, full of encouragement, spreading cheer and very knowledgable chess posts all over the place.

People move on though. <Deffi> gave up chess for example. I never expected that, but as we were discussing before, she has tons of creative things going on and a busy life to begin with.

Jan-28-14  Boomie: <Jessie>

While you're at it, check out Mal's collection at that link I gave.

Mal and I crossed paths a few times at Lone Pine and the Mechanic's Institute but strangely never met. We did have a few jolly chats about West coast chessmen such as Yaz. I wonder what chased him away from CG?

Jan-28-14  Travis Bickle: <jessicafischerqueen: <tvon> HAHAHA I wish I were going to Russia- maybe could play some old folks in parks who would clean the floor with me:>

Well Jess, the pilot could always A. make a wrong left turn B. Be Jamming to Zeppelin & fly right on to Mother Russia C. Decide to make a Vodka run to Russkieland. ; P

Jan-28-14  playground player: <jessicafischerqueen> Gee, if you go to Russia instead of Canada, you might run into more freedom.

Canada's Human Rights Inquisition has shut down and abolished the <Free Dominion> website for saying mean things about Richard Warman, the biggest schmuck in Canada. The husband and wife who own the site have been ordered to pay serial plaintiff Warman $127,000 to compensate him for having things said about himself the like of which every single public figure in the USA has to put up with every day. These victims, of course, don't have $127,000--so they will be in a state of poverty for the rest of their lives.

But, as Canadian jurists are always fond of pointing out, in Canada, truth is no defense against a libel charge.

Which kind of vitiates the very definition of "libel"--but hey, when you're turning your country into a paradise, you have to get rough with those who just don't see the vision.

Jan-28-14  Travis Bickle: Hey Jess, I thought with you living south of the great Dictator for so long you may need to reorient to Good Ol' Canada to make you feel at home... So here are the guys for you. The McKenzie Brothers! ; P
