Thanks for that 300 year old TV Movie show about Jesus. In my opinion, the "old movie" vibe fits this Christian material very well. I noticed in the "additional suggestion" panel that there are tons of these programs like this eh? This one is a modern movie about <King David>, but it looks intriguing so I will check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PiY... tks krmr. |

| Jan-20-14 | | dakgootje: Oh my, Jess! I just remembered I'd do some better translating of Euwe's future of the worldchampionship-article! So sorry, I totally forgot.
Will grab a bit of lunch first, think a full translation afterwards. Will keep it fairly rough, because it takes twice as long otherwise. If there are specific parts you'd want to use afterwards I can always do a more proper translation :) |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Charles Dakkens> That would be marvelous thank you sir! When you're done please post your work, and I will add it to your other famous translations in the "Mirrors." Also, belated congratulations on your fine English translation of the Dutch Masterpiece <"Hans Brinker's Great Expectations."> |
|
| Jan-20-14 | | dakgootje: Thanks madam :)
I've just posted it at my forum. Tended to do a word-by-word translation, so from an English point of view some sentences will be odd. And long. But that's Euwe's fault :) I thought it was high time that the lesser known Dutch Masterpieces got translated. It's incredible for any Dutchman to hear foreigners are unaware how Hans Oliver twisted his finger in some dyke called Carol during Christmas. That story is the cornerstone of the Dutch mentality. |

 | | Domdaniel: <dak> -- <I thought it was high time that the lesser known Dutch Masterpieces got translated.>
A couple of years ago, I heard that Peter Greenaway -- now living in Holland -- was planning a series of films about 'Dutch Masters'. He had already made a film about Rembrandt. So, when I next met him, I said, "How about Max Euwe?" And he replied, "Aha, you play chess, do you?" |

| Jan-20-14 | | Travis Bickle: Hey Jess I've been working out since Jan. 1st. I'm trying to beef up so when Scarlett dumps that boring French advertising numbnuts, I can travel to New York and make my play for her, like 'Ol Travis did in the film Taxi Driver for Betsy! ; P P.S. How do I look so far?

| Jan-20-14 | | dakgootje: <Domdidom> Quickly with wiki I swiftly saw his history mixing paintings with media for art. Seems interesting eh - but would that work with chess? Ha, would it work with Euwe!? For certainly you'd need to add little to enjoy Talgames, even for spectators with limited game understanding :) You do meet the most interesting and wonderful of persons :) |

"Leaving on a Jet Plane"!
No, I haven't even started packing or cleaning my room. I'm a fan of "light packing." The ultimate goal is to fly in flip flops, shorts, T-shirt, no luggage and no purse. I have yet to achieve this goal, but at times have come close. Here's another life goal I have yet to achieve:
"I don't even get out of bed unless someone hands me a 50 dollar bill." |

Listen to the whole thing while watching the video. Seems like a nightmare about The Beatles doesn't it? lol... They could have used this & the other experimental song on my Forum for the 'Carnival of Souls' film soundtrack. ; P Flying - The Beatles

This Experi"mental" Beatles track from your latest playlist at <TRAVIS HOUSE OF MUSIC AND MIKE DITKA DISCUSSION> is brilliant, in my opinion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5p... So is this <Flying> Beatles Experimental track: http://youtu.be/G42-tyLoVr8
Your <Carvinal of Souls> idea is spot on. I remember when you recommended (the original black and white) <Carnival of Souls> and told me you saw it when you were young and it really "creeped you out." I have watched it around 10 times since. It's a work of art, not just horror art. The scene where she sees the Carnival grounds from a distance for the first time is as beautiful as anything Jean Cocteau ever shot. Also the soundtrack for this film perfectly matches the images and story- it is a horror dream, film as dream. Also I think that for real film beauty you might need "black and white" because color may be too distracting. This is one of the best scenes, especially starting about 1:48 when she begins hallucinating: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E63... |
