| Jun-22-14 | | Boomie: <jessicafischerqueen: I remember this "over the moon" idiom from a French girl I knew in Montreal.> That must have been back in the day when mooning was popular. I'm tempted to offer hot crossed buns for the best mooning story but I will uncharacteristically restrain myself. |

| Jun-23-14 | | Boomie: <jessicafischerqueen: Did that really come from a chess press conference?> Naw. Most of the stuff I post is made up out of who knows where. I hear stuff, and it rattles around inside my noggin, and comes out in some distorted fashion. I just post this stuff to make people chuckle. I'm charmed by the illusion that this is a service of sorts. |

The first and finest of the CSNY albums. This baby sold 7 million copies in the US. I played 4+20 when I was 4+20. Lovely little song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIrU... |

<caucho> Thanks for that vintage CSN and Y- Marakesh Express. <Bomb Squad> also dropped a find CSN and Y record in here. I don't think that Stills and Young were ever really "in a band together" in any musical sense- they just liked to hang together, and each of their contributions on their various records had virtually no musical connection to each other. The exception might be the record with "Long May you Run," which I believe was the only record with just the two of them on it: Here is the title track, by Neil:

At least on this track Stills is singing harmony with him. |

<Thanh> Amazing that the fire can burn that long? Was it unusual climate conditions that made it possible? Thanks for that Viet track- I like that a fair bit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXO... Very beautiful.

| Jun-27-14 | | Boomie: <Jessie>
My fav Hollie song ties in with your tram vid craze.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=It75...
The Hollies patterned their style after the Everly Brothers though the group name references Buddy Holly. Nash and Clarke even called themselves brothers in an earlier incarnation. You can plainly hear the harmony connection. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCWM...
Phil died this year so an Everly Brothers retrospective seems in order. |

| Jun-27-14 | | Boomie: <jessicafischerqueen: You know that "The Air that I Breathe," a great track, was post- Nash eh?> DOH! Didn't realize it was that late. "Bus Stop" would have been a better choice there. BTW - Nash wrote "Marrakesh Express" but the Hollies decided not to do it because it had no commercial appeal. Nash left the Hollies because of such petty bickering. The song peaked at #28 on Billboard and the CSN album made it to #6. Success is the best revenge. "Helplessly Hoping" is a song off that album I played to death. Yet another achingly beautiful love song by Stills. Helplessly hoping

<Torrie Spelling's Slacks brand Timpons> Yes your <Steven Stills> selection is truly one of his very best. One of anyone's very best for that matter: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=doIE...
You've inspired me to post two tracks-
First, "Harlequin" by <Genesis ft Peter Gabriel>: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7PG...
"All, always the same,
But there appears in the shades of dawning,
Though your eyes are dim,
All of the pieces in the sky"
Second, here is a famous track for punters who don't know abut Steven Stills- his masterpiece about ex-girlfriend <Judy Collins>: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMbu... |

| Jun-27-14 | | Boomie: <Jessie>
My attraction to Stills was learning how to play all those clever riffs on the guitar. He was a terrific guitar player and found some great variations in songs like "Helplessly Hoping" and "4+20". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvID...
He's using a tuning here, DADDAD I think. I just played it straight up in D. At that time, I was ignorant of exotic tunings and learned songs from listening and picking. Joni Mitchell studies his technique intensely here. Little known fact that she was also a great guitar player. |
