Oh! I had not considered this before.
Here is my favorite English hippy of all time, with another track for the "fey" list: "Pacidy" by <Genesis>, 1970: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLwU... |
|
| Jul-05-14 | | Boomie: ->
Clearly, the Queen of Fey is Sparks, who unaccountably had the top album of 197something with "Kimono My House". We played this strange collection incessantly. It seems to be a combination of rock and light opera. Spot quiz - Which band member is the singer's brother? "This Town Ain't Big Enough For Both Of Us"

The lyrics for "This Town Ain't Big Enough For Both Of Us" are almost as bizarre as the music. What the hey is a "tacky tiger", eh? I mean, the mammals are my favorite type, too, but geez. Here's the first stanza:
<Zoo time is she and you time
The mammals are your favourite type, and you want her tonight Heartbeat, increasing heartbeat
You hear the thunder of stampeding rhinos, elephants and tacky tigers This town ain't big enough for both of us
And it ain't me who's gonna leave> |

The newly released papers include a list of KGB agents in America over several decades. It runs to 40 pages and about 1,000 names. The Churchill Archive is giving researchers access to 19 boxes containing thousands of Russian-language files, typed by Mitrokhin from his original handwritten notes. The notes themselves remain classified. There are glimpses of Mitrokhin’s mindset in the titles he gave the volumes, including “The Accursed Regime” and “The Mousetrap.” http://time.com/2960752/soviet-defe... |

| Jul-07-14 | | Alien Math: [Eng Sub]我的楼兰 (My LouLan) - 云朵Yun Duo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OSiQ... In an archaeological expedition in 1980, various treasures were unearthed. Among them were mummies well preserved by the salty-dry climate. In over 3800 years, the mummy of one woman had lost little of her beauty. At the same time she was mysterious, having Caucasian facial features. She was named "The beauty of Loulan". This stunning discovery, now in a museum doesn't fail to impress, as "外国人!" is often heard around the mummy, which now rests in a climatized glass case. |

<Targhhhh!>
1994 tracks to make new <Pink Floyd> album this is huge news, thanks <tarpon>! This will include the last work of Rick Wright as well, RIP. Here is a track that my Floyd biography ridicules, but I always thought it was beautiful: Rick Wright- "Remember a Day":
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AmSj...
We used to go mushroom picking every October-November and we'd always play "A Nice Pear" on the way home from the farmers' fields- it was a re-release including the first two Floyd studio albums. Only once did a farmer approach us with a rifle cradled, to tell us "Get orf my land."
So we did. |

Thanks for <PATCH ADAMS> alert- mine are in now. Also, offer warning about <Adobe Flash Player> update. With ADOBE- which was massively hacked last year, and is almost totally screwed up, like Google, for the same reason- it has a monopoly- you should never have any ADOBE products set for <"auto-update."> You need to set it for <"Alert me of updates."> Then, when you manually do the newest Flash player update, you must carefully read the instructions and UNCHECK THE MacAfee Security box. If you don't, you will get the ENTIRELY USELESS MacAfee Security BLOATWARE along with the update. I hope ADOBE and GOOGLE die long, lingering deaths.
And their little dogs, too. |

Thanks for introducing me to <Sparks>. That track sounds like a copy of <Bohemian Rhapsody>? Which was first? I actually love such theatrical Prog Rock. "Prog Rock": the only entire genre that is fey.

| Jul-11-14 | | twinlark: Hi Jess
Just thought I'd touch base for a quick hickey on Oz flicks. Knowing you have a penchant for good Aussie movies and directors, I wonder if you've heard of Ivan Sen, a fairly new director on the scene. He's an indigenous Aussie and his movies feature indigenous themes. Last year he directed <Mystery Road>, with a great cast that included Aaron Pederson as the lead, supported by Hugo Weaving as an outback cop (a "D"), Jack Thompson and Ryan Kwanten...Sookie's little brother can be a frightening redneck dude without making much of an effort at all. The dialog is outback economical, no soliloquies, speeches or rants, there's no soundtrack to tell you what to think, and it's shot on location in wide open outback Queensland complete with dusty country towns. It's a murder mystery with Aaron playing the investigating detective, combining his recently acquired white fella skills and quals as a detective with his knowledge of the locals and the countryside. It sounds a bit laid back and twee, but the atmosphere is terrific. The racism toward aborigines is presented without it being used to hit you over the head, or even that obvious except for occasional comments and quick scenes that show just how deeply it runs. It's actually kind of most of the point of the movie, although that might be far from obvious to some. I'd recommend anything by Sen, including Beneath Clouds, another great movie. |

I don't watch sit-coms as a rule unless they are at least 50 years old. But I've just stumbled on the extraordinary "Vicious" with Ian McKellen and Derek Jacobi heading the finest cast to ever grace a comedy. Boomie at the Boobie Again |
