<"Get orf My Land" brand Timpons> I'm not sure either, except I know that <Greg Lake> sang for the first two <King Kong> records. I think they were first before <Elephant Lake Palmetto>. Here is Greg Lake for <Ellafitzgerald's Lady Tattoo>: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3rYr... "Boomie, had white horses,
And ladies, by the score
All dressed in satin,
And waiting by the door..." |

Jinx! Not only have I seen <Mystery Road>, I moved heaven and earth to find a copy of <Beneath Clouds> as well. And I did find it! I agree with your assessment, and thanks for the wicked insider details I didn't know about. <Pederson's> performance was luminous, especially when he was interacting with his estranged wife and daughter. Much, much better than the majority of "performances" we get out of Hollywood. Also I loved the score. It's nice not to get hit over the head with some crappy pop song or "strings" meant to tell us how to feel. I like my films raw and real, like this one.
Another triumph for Aussie cinema, though you'll have to start calling it the "Australian Second Wave" since Peter Weir and Fred Schepsi and friends already used up the first moniker. I'd like to nominate <The Proposal> by Nick Cave as a worthy addition to the second wave. Brilliant, brilliant. Cave wrote the screenplay and the score as well. If you haven't seen it, you must do. It's like a Wallaby-style version of <Heart of Darkness>. I had a Commonwealth Literature professor who told me that Aussie novels were so good because they came from a land with a desert heart- so the people who lived there had to fill up all that trackless expanse with their own hearts. |

Thanks for the tip, I've ordered Cave's <The Proposition>. BTW Sen has two other feature movies, <Toomelah> and <Dreamland>. The former is about a place he actually grew up in, an ex-mission remote indigenous place at the back of woop-woop where essentially the whole town becomes the cast playing a version of themselves - the featured extras are as interesting as the movie itself which received an ovation of several minutes at Cannes from an appreciative French audience. The latter is set in New Mexico, but I haven't been able to unearth a copy to watch as yet. |

<Wayne> long time no see! I didn't even know there were any Canadian girls playing chess in the first place. I was forced to play bridge in high school.
I'm only surprised they didn't force to wear a beehive hairdo as well. |

| Jul-16-14 | | Alien Math: Damaged sea cables cause Internet speed woes in Vietnam The internet cable system that runs from Southeast Asia to North America was damaged Tuesday night, disrupting international connection in Vietnam. A statement from managers of the Asia America Gateway, which carries 60-70 percent of the data transferred between Vietnam and overseas, said the cable broke at around 6.30 p.m. at the section between Vietnam and Hong Kong, 18 kilometers off Vung Tau coast and 19 meters under the sea. Launched in 2007, the 20,000-kilometer cable starts in Malaysia and ends in the US, and is the only cable connecting Southeast Asia with the US
In Vietnam, a 314-kilometer cable section is linked to the southern beach town of Vung Tau since 2009, and used by four major local Internet providers, namely FPT Telecom, VNPT, Viettel and SPT. http://www.thanhniennews.com/tech/d... |

 | | jessicafischerqueen:
<Hanh> Notes from <WCC page> Only <Karpova> <me> and <crawfb5> wrote any drafts so far, and I didn't notice any <country/regional> bias myself. But thinking more about it, there is a language bias. I will speak only for myself now. I am restricted by inability to read other languages besides English, so my drafts are all heavily dependent on English sources.
In my case GOOGLE translate can help with Russian sources, but it's really time consuming and end result is still suspect. Thanks to <Karpova> we have access to much excellent German-language material that she translated for us. That's why people like <Tabanus> and <dakgootje> are so important to the project, because they bring very valuable research work on Scandinavian and Dutch sources, including newspapers, journals and newsreel videos. If you come across any language sources you can read, please post your findings in the <WCC forum>? I know that you can read more than one language. Maybe you can read ten? Also I think you are more skilled at GOOGLE translator than I am. |

| Jul-16-14 | | Alien Math: A word was not translate <overseas>, their wish for only European, none US publication, are bias? maybe have the word confused, Ten return to Vietnam to continue her studies, our main China translator, Nhi might be able to help once Thanh returns, house have been busy, Karpova appear well enough with German, not have translate need for German?
able help with Russian if need, not have access to more languages sorry |

 | | WCC Editing Project:
<Hanh> Again I speak only for myself, but there's no lack of US publications in the resource material I've gathered so far. Far from it. Chinese source access would be outstanding.
Help with Russian would be grand!!
I will call on you when this comes up again, and thank you. |
