Feb-28-15  Travis Bickle: Hey Ms Fischer, horrorologist... thumbs up or thumbs down for the horror flick 'The Lazarus Effect'?
Mar-01-15  Travis Bickle: Hey Jess, where ya been? Here's a great song by a good pal of Ringo Starr & John Lennon!

<Sgt. Barnes>

I have to start teaching children again in about an hour- I've spent the last two months sitting on my expanding arse.

One month Canadian arse sitting, whilst eating plenty of moose and caribou that my brother murdered.

One month Korean arse sitting, pretending to make "lesson materials" instead of reading chess history websties.

Now it's back to actual work.

You and <Ohio> dug up some amazing detail on the A-B Yesterday issue. Last word is <tbon>? You have an encyclopedic knowledge of Beatles history. Enough to write a book, in fact. I would buy such a book.

I looked for <The Lazarus Effect>, and found it, but there was something "funky" about the source. I "pre-screened" the link and it was suspicious, so I'm going to wait till the film turns up on a source I already know is safe.

On that topic, the direct link I emailed you for the <Gingerbread Man> documentary is not funky- that's a safe streaming site. I watched several movies on it recently.

Does <MacAfee> have the ability to take a URL and "pre screen it"?

This is really handy eh?

Here is some more Harry Nilsson-

<McLovin> I couldn't understand your message until I noticed on the IMDB boards that the great <Leonard Nimoy> had died.

I loved him on <Star Trek>, and even more as the narrator for that "In Search Of" show. He did a great job on the Sasquatch episode. It's my favorite <Nimoy>: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQJ...

Mar-01-15  chessmoron: Icon has been overused by many but <Leonard Nimoy> is truly an icon and a great ambassador to <Star Trek>. He will be missed.

<tbon> I had seen that Phil on Ringo clip before. Phil is a really nice guy, loved by all in the business (except Steve Hackett), but he knows drumming.

Great story of Phil sitting in, with <Bob Geldof> recognizing what a brilliant drummer he really is.

Here is the famous live set from Japan with both Phil and the great Bill Bruford playing drums simultaneously on "Los Endos":

<McLovin> I'm on it, thanks. But you posted SPOILERS!

Remember, I'm someone who thinks even posting the title is a spoiler.

We have been discussing <It Follows> on the IMDB horror boards for a few days.

I will watch it for sure when it comes online.

AFTER LONG SPLIT, 2 KOREAS FACE INCREASING LINGUISTIC DIVIDE

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) -- North Korean defectors are often baffled by all the English-based words they hear in South Korea, like "shampoo," "juice" and "self-service" - none of which is used in the reclusive North.

South Koreans, meanwhile, are puzzled by homegrown North Korean words like "salgyeolmul," which literally means "skin water." (That's "skin lotion" south of the border.)

Linguists say it takes about two years for North Korean defectors to feel comfortable conversing in South Korea.

The communication gap widens when it comes to technical terms used in medical and technological settings, according to Han Yong-un, a South Korean linguist. About two-thirds of medical terms are different, he said.

"I think that North and South Korean doctors cannot work together in the same operating room," Han said.

hahaha I love that <Valley Girl> track. I looked for a live video of MOON LANDING ZAPPA, but I just came up with a lip synch version- lots of hot chicks with Bazoombas though, for those who like that kind of fare.

I know <Boomie> and <crawfb5> do.

Thanks <tb0>!

I love this Frank Black track, thanks man: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gR1...

It's beautiful eh? And you can hear the trademark Pixies guitar chords and rhythms. Kind of shows how much of the musical writing Frank did for that great band.

I like his "speaking vocals"- reminds me of Lou Reed here.

<Hanh>

Thanks for that interesting link and information.

We have a North Korean defector in our school. Poor girl- she almost never smiles, and she has been in country for two years now.

You know what though- she can speak passable Chinese. I wonder if they get any Chinese language schooling up in the North, if they are lucky enough not to be in a forced labor camp with 80% of the rest of the country.
