<Bigg>

That's a remarkable cartoon, and not the first you've posted from that site, if I'm not mistaken?

Speaking of memory, the cartoon made me think yet again how Brian Nolan wasted all his time on those execrable Batman "films" when he could have been making more movies like "Memento."

I guess they dumped truckfulls of money on his front lawn.

#Chris Nolan, rather.

<Bigg> I conducted an important statistical analysis I just made up, and it appears that you always post within fifteen minutes of me typing the word BAZOOMBAS.

Probably a coincidence.

I wonder where <Tim> is.

Probably out waiting on the spring migration.

Mar-13-15  Travis Bickle: Hey Jess, I just remembered... A few years ago Scarlett Johansson were in a bar in Cleveland with some friends & Scarlett went on stage a sang karaoke to Rocky Raccoon.

It went something like this... ; P

Mar-13-15  Thanh Phan: <jessicafischerqueen> I think your student from North Korea is still going through a daily conflict with her new surroundings as well as longing for what is a comfort for her,

Her environment, her surroundings and her social reactions and even speach are a new and foreign world to her, an alien environment,

From a social standpoint to her new found freedoms (if any) for speech, could automatically create tension for her, an automatic self defensive reaction of preservation,

Losing what is considered <normal> for her could also bring homesickness type thoughts and emotions, not unlike some of us who moved from Vietnam to Alaska,

Some encouragement or even showing acceptance with a smile or nod could help yet I would probably caution about over exerting such actions towards her,

Given time I think she could grow to accept her new environment or grow disillusioned, sometimes that happens with people who had to flee and leave their world behind,

I found it interesting to learn of her knowledge of Chinese and yet there is a small Chinese community and 4 of the 11 provinces border with China,

There are about 300 or more Higher Education type Universities and study of both Russian and English was made mandatory for the upper middle schools in the late 70s.

I used to use the "Chess Tempo" site for training. It has pretty extensive resources. You can find it here:

.... I wonder if they get any Chinese language schooling up in the North, if they are lucky enough not to be in a forced labor camp with 80% of the rest of the country.>

Is that an accurate percentage? Seems like it couldn't be that high and still have the country continue on. Should have completely imploded by now.

Gameknot has tactical training as well, at http://gameknot.com/

My good <The Good Anarchist>.

I'm not really good at maths per se, but if you or anyone else wants to, all of the North Korean labor camps can easily be viewed on Google Earth.

Essentially, the entire industrial workforce is enslaved in these camps.

They don't really have any kind of "economy" that anyone has seen since Stalin's Soviet Union.

It's actually much, much worse than anything Stalin put together.

<Trobbone>

South Korea tried to prevent me from hearing the fine Dylan track you posted for me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKK...

Luckily, thanks to me (or anyone else who wants them), having access to literally thousands of proxy services, I was able to hear this excellent track.

Silly geoblocking megacorporations. The internet is for kids.

Apr-05-15  Alien Math: The fact that there are Any labor camps should be alarming enough, the numbers of 300 institutes or more Higher Education type Universities for language are the total the North Korean have for eligible universities that count toward their learning World Wide

It's actually much, much worse than anything Stalin put together.>

Stalin took the bad system that Lenin put together and made it even worse, a system of suspicion, recrimination, lies and paranoia that required systematic ongoing purges (murders) to eliminate "enemies" and "traitors".

Anyone with any talent at anything was viewed as a threat, so the fear of murder basically paralyzed the entire country until Stalin's death. By then it was too late, and the Soviet Union was in a death spiral that culminated in collapse less than 4 decades after Stalin's demise.

Hard to top that for utter hell.

Apr-06-15  Travis Bickle: Hey Jess, here's a neat comparison of the Lennon McCartney tug of war competition to out do each other writing songs that made The Beatles so great...

Here's a single release with very similar love ballads by Macca & Lennon.

Good recommendation. Please don't hesitate to drop any further tips, horror or not, in my forum.
