Feb-08-11  Bdellovibrio: <jess> Well, actually it somehow went away when I gifted some of the time on my premium account, but it's no big deal as there were only sporadic postings there.

A Korean girl here in the states once told me that if I moved over there "maybe [I] would be famous because Korean girls really like tall boys."

I also really enjoy proofreading Korean students' English-language essays; there is never a shortage of infelicitous sentences.

"Actors can make audiences laugh, cry, and touched."

  jessicafischerqueen: Yes, and I'm in that minority who thinks it's a bad idea to "beat the Konglish" out of them.

In actual fact, it enriches the English language.

Would you rather go to

<The Acupuncture Center>

or

<Place of Oriental Well-Being>

Would you rather buy your groceries from

<Tesco's>

or

<Flamboyant Health Food Mart>?

Feb-08-11  achieve: <Jess> Ah- I see... <love> Very true- and as <Dom> said the other day, thanking me for the support at his forum, that I'd "stood up for decency and sanity" - paraphrased - and goldangit it's about time this point is being made forcefully, and urges the admins to "up" their activity" - on many fronts, and enforce their own posting guidelines for cripes sake... Run this site "decently." If they can't then ask for more (volunteer) manpower. Another point you made elsewhere.

Oh yes and you're certain to score in Korea. I don't think there are any male Native English teachers in Korea without a girlfriend or three.

Yes, Korean girls do like tall boys.

But they like white boys even better.

I have never even dreamed of a more "wannabe American" culture than exists here in Korea.

I'd go further- I believe American pop-culture influence will destroy 5000 years of Korean culture in the imminent future.

Korea: the ancient Asian kingdom where grown men walk down city streets wearing Donald Duck T-shirts.

Feb-08-11  achieve: <Unbelievable- I expect a lot more from you people. A great deal more.> heh - can't stop laughing at that :) It's a reflex thing, and I'm not laughing <at> it, of course, since I wholeheartedly agree.

The forceful insisting tone reminds me of a line from one of my favorite films: "I am not, I repeat NOT, FLEXIBLE on this!"

Feb-08-11  Travis Bickle: T-bone steaks...hahaha!!!
Feb-08-11  Travis Bickle: Jess I just thought of another movie that is an emotional, thought provoking & well acted masterpiece! Have you ever seen '21 Grams' starring Sean Penn, Naomi Watts & Benicio del Toro ? If you haven't put it on your must see list. ; P

  jessicafischerqueen: <T-bone> thanks- I haven't seen that movie either. I'll download it.

I seem to like all the movies you recommend so keep them coming whatever springs to mind.

I love Benicio El Torro- he was great in the gigantically long movie about Che Guevera in the title role.

He's so cool because he talks so funny. In Usual Suspects you can hardly hear what he says.

Feb-08-11  dakgootje: Oh madam, I have got a conundrum of the utmost complexity. It is so mind-breaking hard and complicated that I turn to thee as almighty Knower of Knowledge.

Since you are able to read every post on the entire site including those which have been deleted and the ones which were only conceptualized but never posted - I would have posted anywhere. But it had been a while since I traveled to these lands.

So, to get to the matter, the following is the situation. A friend of mine has proposed to color our hair during the nexy vacation. I really don't know why, so don't ask that. In any case, he picked magenta [as shown in exhibit A on the far right: http://www.petticoat-fashion.com/co... ] for me. I in turn picked African Green [as shown in exhibit B in the middle: http://www.petticoat-fashion.com/co... ] for him.

Now the problem. We are both convinced we've been given the worse color and there really is no arguing otherwise - from both sides. So who is right, which color is worse? Or should we listen to Solomon and, instead of splitting hairs, agree that the combination truly must be the root of all blindness?

Feb-08-11  crawfb5: <dak> You're very close to the solution. Solomon would have you each use both colors -- half and half. Of course you could mix the two colors together...or you could hold both behind your back like two pawns and let your friend pick one.
Feb-08-11  Travis Bickle: Hey Jess I think it would be really interesting if you did a chess documentary on Svetozar Gligoric. As you know Bobby used to call him "Gligo" and they used to chat regularly on the phone. Bobby tried to get the rust off for The Spassky rematch in Yugoslavia playing a series of games with Gligoric. Just wondering. ; P
Feb-09-11  dakgootje: <craw> Ah yes, very interesting!

Actually, we will go with 7 all in all - so perhaps I can convince the others as well and we can form a rainbow.. ;)

  jessicafischerqueen: Certainly superior to the "Nazi Pop Twins" (a real musical act)-

Children who write and sing songs about how all colored people should leave America.

Feb-09-11  Travis Bickle: Jess I'd be willing to help you on Gligoric.
Feb-09-11  crawfb5: <dak> I have a new theory on the worst color:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hpiI...

A "suicide blonde" is a woman who has dyed by her own hand. I don't know what a self-dyed green or magenta might be.

Doreen swears she will never go blonde. I tell her that's a very bold statement from someone who sleeps that soundly...

Feb-10-11  Travis Bickle: Jess I sent some emails on Gligo. ; P
Feb-10-11  Travis Bickle: Outstanding Jess!! ; P
