Agree 100000000000000000000000 percent.

I'd say 99.999999999999999999 percent of all movies are unwatchable dreck.>

Yes! The writing these days just stinks to high heaven.

In action movies, the trend for the past two decades is to be more "over the top" than anything that came before you.

So the laws of physics are routinely broken, with the hero having more and more absurd and ridiculous powers, and we are supposed to watch this with credulity?

Or accept inane, stupid dialogue which could have been written by 7th graders?

Blech! Blech! Blech!

And I am just getting started.

Mar-20-16  thegoodanarchist: In fact, I believe that <Blech! Blech! Blech!> could be made into a movie.

It would be the <Tora! Tora! Tora!> of this generation.

Actually Jess it was Laurence Olivier.

You see Jess, I was working on another Tarzan picture & Laurence was making some other picture, so we'd get together at lunch & play a game. ; P

He looked good when he was young eh?

Also I never knew Sir Laurence played Tarzan. Did you ever play chess with Tarzan?

To be sure. Did you know that 0 (zero) percent of men who ever read a Marvel or DC comic, or who ever saw a Marvel or DC superhero movie, have had sex?

It's a fact!

Also I never knew Sir Laurence played Tarzan. Did you ever play chess with Tarzan?> Jess, Sir Laurence was an avid student of the game whereas his dog was a real rockhead, the mutt would rather eat the pieces than play the game.

Also Tarzan was dumber than a box of rocks! after a day swinging from trees The King of the jungle would be the king of the bar stool, unti he fell off it. ; P Needless to say we never played The Royal game.

<Knight13> I enjoyed all of those movies you listed. Do you like any newer movies brah.

I'm a horror addict so my recent "best movies" are all horror. I recommend <The Witch 2016> and <Resolution 2012>.

For recent non-horror, I recommend the documentary <Love & Terror on the Howling Plains of Nowhere>, which is now on youtube if anyone is curious. It's an Errol Morris- style film but not by Errol Morris.

I can't think of a recent drama I liked except for Jennifer Lawrence in <Winter's Bone>.

What recent movies do you like brah.

Mar-22-16  Knight13: <jessicafischerqueen> I'm not a fan of horror movies. Recent movies I like: The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Ex Machina, American Sniper, John Wick, Edge of Tomorrow, Guardians of the Galaxy, Gone Girl, Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, etc.
Mar-22-16  chessmoron: <I can't think of a recent drama I liked except for Jennifer Lawrence in <Winter's Bone>>

I adore that movie so much. For a relatively unknown actress at that time, Jennifer Lawrence was a revelation to me. I was a bit sad that she didn't get an Oscar for that role.

<Knight13> Wow every single movie you list there is an example of what I can't stand in today's cinema. Sophomoric, witless dreck.

A crew of trained monkeys would produce less offensive fair. I actually forced myself to watch the first sequel to Hunger Games, though I hated the first, solely because it had Jennifer Lawrence in them. I love her, but I made a mistake there. She didn't save either.

I guess we are at polar opposites on current film taste, which is fine with me. Objectively speaking, the horror movies I promoted are no "Citizen Kane" either, that's for sure.

<McLovin> It was criminal that she didn't get an Oscar, and this tells you all you need to know about the Oscars. They almost never focus on a lesser known or dark horse film/performance.

WannaBe: I saw the latest Cohen Bros film "Hail Caesar", and quite honestly, if you don't understand the brothers, and you don't get the film references within "Hail Caesar", you will not like it.

I loved it.
