<Hozza> Harry Kane indeed- repeating his trademark zero goals in August with fifteen hat tricks in September. I just watched him score in the last seconds in the England-Slovenia match which convinced me that we have no chance whatsoever unless they fire the manager. Who thought it would be a good idea to hire a <Gareth Bale> impersonator to helm our squad in the next world cup. That was a disgraceful performance, a match that left me with a really bad taste in my mouth- and it did with the commentators too, who were suitably, and predictably appalled by such a lacklustre, gutless performance. And when is <Delli "Bowling" Alley> going to grow up he's 21 now and it's time to man up. No more simulating and whining and getting banned from a match where England really could have used him. It was nostalgic, though, to see Tottenham player and alumnus team up for the winning goal- what a picture perfect cross by the traitor <Kyle Walker> to his old pal. They had a good manly hug after and it brought a tear to my eye- really. Our Tottenham is safe in third place behind rampant Manchesters, which is of considerably more interest to me than the World "Athletic Cup" qualifiers. <Spurs> have the best full backs and wing backs in the league even without <Kyle>. Also I noticed they hired <Sergio Aurelio> who I saw play many times on <PSG>. Now he is a worthy signing, rough and ready and should inject some toughness into our lineup. And <Danny Rose> still out, but back soon enough and then it's truly an embarrassment of riches for Spurs on the back line eh? |

<Dr. Winston O John Lennon Impersonator> Howay and thanks mate! Are you enjoying any of the fall football? I wonder what you thought of the England Slovenia match. England plays again today but please don't post any spoilers because I have to find it and watch it online tomorrow. It's not been posted yet. |

<Hozza> What an incredibly intelligent and sensitive man David Bowie was. I watched a video of him playing "The Elephant Man" on stage, and he did it without any costume- he just contorted his body and invented a vocal contortion that conveyed he was crippled. Just brilliant. I thought he was brilliant as well in "The Man Who Fell to Earth" and "Merry Christmas Mr. Laurence." That's a powerful tribute to John Lennon thanks <Hozza>. |

<Teem> Just read your reviews of <Resolution> and <Session 9> and I understand your frustration. Both of these films need to be watched carefully at least several times to understand how all the pieces fit together, and you still don't have it right- though you did a lot better than me or anyone else I know in figuring out both on first viewing. Way better in fact so hats off to you. Both of your reviews are trenchant. No surprise there, at least not from me. This would be a spoiler if you were ever going in for a second or third look, but I doubt you will- you still don't have either film right on plot or theme. There are actually no plot holes in either, but it takes a great deal of digging to figure out exactly what happened, and why anyone wold care. And even then it's an abstruse pot of gold at the end of that rainbow. I don't think you would enjoy either film any better if they were explained to you, or if you figured it all out for yourself after repeated viewings. Yet that is my favorite kind of horror- a convoluted plot distributed only in cryptic clues, demanding that the work be reviewed a dozen times or more. But there has to be a "resolution" meaning no actual plot holes or I don't like it. Faulkner's <The Sound and the Fury> is precisely the same in that respect, and I doubt you or most other people are going to tackle that without a concordance, and read it 10 or more times "cold" until you understand what actually happened. It's too much work unless you have some kind of driving reason to tackle it in the first place, such as being forced to in a University class. So I love the horror/mystery that demands Holmes-esque work and repeated viewings/readings, but if there is no bona fide "resolution" then I feel cheated. Neither of the horror films on tap here is representative of any sub genre to do with "modern horror," by the way- both are fringe efforts and would have been in any era. Both enjoy only small, cult audiences. If you ever see the original Japanese <Ringu> that is not a modern horror but it conforms just about exactly to the style of <Resolution> and <Session 9>. I must have watched each of those three movies a dozen times or more. That's just how I roll, Eseh.

Good heavens no. Except for the first CHUCKY movie which was a masterpiece of economical middle of the road horror filming. I can tell you another underrated mainstream outing which was <Exorcist III> starring the uneven <Brad Dur-goof> and the always stellar <George "Great" Scott>. Well worth a punt can you dig it: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0099528... The great unwashed rate it 6.3 but I rated it 10/10. |

It's a sci-fi black comedy. Carpenter also did the music. It's an extraordinary accomplishment on no budget. |
