<trampoline> lol yes I know aboot <1941> because I have all of Spielberg's movies. I've even watched some of them.

I didn't remember John Belushi was in <1941> though! Funny scenes even if the movie was a bomb.

On other news I can't thank you enough for showing me <Cure Plainsong>. I got the whole record now <Disintegration> and also I just got <Cure in Orange> which is a live concert tour film but I haven't watched it yet.

I've had <Disintegration> on non stop though. What a simply gorgeous record eh?> Yo JessieRocks! The Cures, Disintegration disc is a Classic!

Dec-08-17  harrylime: <optimal play: Re: Robert Mitchum vs Robert De Niro A direct comparison can be made via their respective portrayals of the character Max Cady in Cape Fear (1962) & (1991).

I think Mitchum was better.

De Niro's Cady was too much of a psycho.>

Mitch was scared they would re arrest him in Savannah .. Greg Peck bribed him with a crate of Whiskey to take the part ...

Mitch PLAYED HIMSELF ... and didn'nt give a fooook ....

Just turned up ..

De Niro took a year out training up and pumping up for the role ....

THAT ... is THE difference between Mitch and De Niro ....

<trampoline> Yes "Prayers for Rain" another standout track among many on The Cure's <Disintegration>:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DtQ...

All of the tracks are lush, typical of Goth music at its best. It's similar in kind to Prog Rock and like Prog Rock, when it's good it's very good and when it's bad it's very bad.

No middle of the road ground in these two genres.

<Teem> Kevin Meaney! Never heard of him but I'm not surprised you like him- it's deliriously ridiculous, like Monty Python or Jiminy Glick. He even sounds like Jiminy Glick.

If you like Kevin Meaney, you may well enjoy Jiminy too.

Here Jiminy grills the notoriously truculent rapper <Ice Cube>:

Jiminy's final word: "Vanilla Ice is his own worst enemy."

<krmr> Thank you! I know of <Bobby's> brilliancy price against <IM Byrne> in the 1963 US Championship, but I certainly don't know it well. It was nice to hear old Kevin from <Chess Network> give his take on the game though.

<Hozza> what a revelation that <Robert Mitchum> has such a beautiful voice. He reminds me of <Der Bingle>

You appear to be up on the musical talent of iconic 50s movie stars eh? You showed me the <Monty Clift> trumpet as well, if I remember correctly.

Dec-10-17  Boomie: <jess: Jiminy Glick>

I'm all over Glick like a bad virus.

Here is Meaney's other great routine:

Didn't <Robert Mitchum> and <Gregory Peck> actually make a cameo in <Scorcese's> Cape Fear?

Didn't <Robert Mitchum> and <Gregory Peck> actually make a cameo in <Scorcese's> Cape Fear?>

I thought they were the basso duet in Don Giovanni.

"Ah, padrone. Ah, padrone..."

Dec-10-17  Alien Math: <jessicafischerqueen:
Didn't <Robert Mitchum> and <Gregory Peck> actually make a cameo in <Scorcese's> Cape Fear?>

also notable was some of the original music from the 1962 Cape Fear version made it into the Scorcese version,

as well as include some rejected music from the Torn Curtain movie by Bernard Herrmann, the first version music composer

Domdaniel: "Infamy, infamy, they've all got it infamy" ... <Carry On up the Chess Championship>

Hey, Jess. Yanno, I tend to agree with Harry - Robert Mitchum was the best. Maybe not the greatest *actor* -- you could say De Niro was a better mimic and Olivier was a better thespian -- but the greatest movie star of the male sex.

And Cillian Murphy (the 'C' is pronounced like 'K', by the way) could be his successor. Though when I first saw Disco Pigs I got it arseways: I thought it was too obscure, too full of Cork city slang and accents - like the writer Enda Walsh, I'd been living in Cork for a few years by then, yet I still found much of it incomprehensible.

Which just shows I don't have the ear of a real writer like Walsh. Did you know he was working with David Bowie in his final months?

Domdaniel: <Boomie> Irish (Gaelic/Gaeilge) Language obscurities: 'Puss' is the Irish word for face (as seen in the line "Don't put your cat in the washing machine, you might get a sock in the puss".)

The Irish for beard is 'fasog', pronounced 'face ogue'.
