<Dom> Subtitles, brah, subtitles. They are like magic. I don't watch anything without English subtitles which are free on the internets.

This includes media with an "American" or "Canadian" accent because the sound recording these days is appalling- they often mumble and there's frequently appalling music drowning out the vocals. This is especially true in movies. One reason I don't go to movies in theatres anymore is that I can't hear what they are saying.

Remember <Niels>? (achieve)

He said the same thing to me 10 years ago. His English is as good as mine and he couldn't hear what the actors were saying either. So he also downloaded English subtitles.

<Dom>, <Teem> We don't know aboot "faslogs" in Canada. Are they similar to Yule logs? I know what those are.

I do have a question aboot another phrase which I think may be Irish or possibly Mexican. <Dom> you speak fluent Arse, if I'm not mistaken, and <Teem> you are fluent in Hispanic, so I think I may be barking up the right tree here.

I saw a record on the internet- an "album" or "CD" as they used to be known when external media still existed-

It was called "The Sound of Fag Ash." That was the title, and it had a picture of Julie Andrews playing guitar to some Austrian children, but instead of on a mountain they appear to be on the moon, or some such.

This is clearly some kind of reference to <The Sound of Music>.

Here is a visual aid if it helps clear up this important unimportant mystery:

Dec-11-17  Paint My Dragon: <... but instead of on a mountain they appear to be on the moon, or some such.>

Appropriately enough, it's an ash tray, with screwed up fag butts as makeshift seating. Pleasant grassy meadows are clearly overrated.

Fascinating cover art. Hipgnosis with a psychosis?

<Saint Sy of Flagon>

"flagon" It all makes sense! No wonder you are an expert on this topic.

You are the first person to clear this up for me brah. I didn't even look closely enough at the picture to see what was actually there.

<Saint Sy> can you fill me in on these mysterious "faslogs" the lads are talking aboot?

They appear to be entomologically related to the Erse idiom at hand.

I remember that music- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-HM...

I also remember that Richard Hell used to wear a T-shirt that said "Please Kill Me" 24 hours a day. According to some music journalist anyways.

Nobody did though.

<Hozza, Saint Sy> re this match <United 3 Gunners 1> with the "we forgot the offside rule" goal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMM...

Did you guys see this game? I watched the whole game and it was a ripping affair, the most entertaining football I've seen in a long time.

Gunners fired over THIRTY (30) shots at <De Haya> and only one (1) went in.

United deserved the victory to be sure, but at the same time they were bloody lucky. Arsenal played with great precision, energy, creativity. The footy gods were not smiling on them this day.

Dec-13-17  Alien Math: someone said this was a holiday classic, hopefully it is,

The Maccabeats - Candlelight - Hanukkah https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSJ...

it's not what i normally listen to but it has a light tone to it

Dec-13-17  Paint My Dragon: <United 3 Gunners 1> Yes, probably the best <Prem> game this season so far. I'd agree that United were quite lucky. Normally an open game would favour <The Arse> as their otherwise lightweight creative players are able to flourish, but in this instance, the relative gulf in defensive abilities was the deciding factor, and we saw just how good De Gea is.

Very excited by the return of MUFC's <Luke Shaw> by the way (although you may not have seen this yet). I thought he was 'nailed on' outward bound in the transfer window. Somewhat ridiculously, this comes at a time of renewed speculation that <Broadway Danny Rose> will be joining MUFC, and that this is the real reason <Pocket Chess> isn't playing him. Personally, I rate <Ben Davies> quite highly, so I think there is also a possibility that he's there on merit alone, particularly if Rose is lacking form or fitness.

<Hanh> Happy Hannukah brah!

I love these <Maccabeats>. I loved them even before I watched the video because the name is a pun on "Maccabee" and it reminded me of teaching the song "Maccabee Children" to Jewish children in Montreal.

I tutored rich Jewish children in their houses for several years.

Here is another <Maccabeats> I like because I ate a lot of latkes in Montreal and they are not to be missed:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fg5...

Also President Obama appears in a <Maccabeats> video lol!!!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SN1...

lol they forced him to participate by "sampling" him.

HAHAHAHAHA

Thanks <Hanh> for introducing me to the world of Maccabeats!

<Saint Sy> I'm glade you got your <Luke Shaw> back this is excellent news to be sure.

I stopped reading your post at <Luke Shaw> because I haven't watched the <Manchester DARBY> yet and I'm terrified of spoilers.

I will be watching the <DARBY> today. I never miss a Manchester Darby and I always have high expectations, but many of them are nervy, tight affairs. I always hope for an open Darby but sadly they seem to be rare. Same for <Merseyside DARBY>.

Which I will also watch today.

Dec-13-17  Paint My Dragon: Fair enough. Midweek matches today/yesterday as well, so you have some catching up to do.

The return of <Shaw> related to the European games, hence my post was EPL spoiler free, but right to be cautious!
