<hanh> Wall-E is indeed a grand movie, as is the Hitchhiker's guide but I only read the book.

Those are sci-fi, not horror though. Possibly the traditional "Sci-fi Holiday" might be on November 31st, if I'm not mistaken...

Nov-07-18  crawfb5: A quick update on the road to retirement...

I'd planned to give notice next week and leave at the end of November. However the company has decided to shut down my location. I might wind up staying a bit longer than I'd planned for some bonus money, but I've already turned down the transfer they offered, so the ram has touched the wall. I should be out completely by year's end, I should think.

  jessicafischerqueen:

<Tab> I think some correction slips have been processed? One of mine was processed shortly after the sad passing of <Daniel>. "Victors Rosenbergs" was changed to "Viktors Rosenbergs", as per my correction slip.

I have a feeling that no new games have been uploaded from the "pgn utility" tool. None of mine have been uploaded. I guess member game uploads are last on the "to do list," but I can understand that. Basic functions are still being tweaked, as far as I understand. Also we have no idea of how many problems there might still be due to <Daniel's> encryption and coding. Possibly <Sargon> is our only hope on this, though I wish the admins would enlist <Switching Owls for Thugs> on the task because I suspect he knows a lot about it already.

I think <Annie> is the best person to ask about correction slips and new game uploads, because she knows much better than us what tasks are being done by whom, and what the future plans are.

I hope new pgn submissions start to be uploaded sooner than later, but I refuse to worry about this until <Annie> is worried.

Tabanus: Mmm. None of ny about 80 slips are processed yet. I'm collecting those + CG's promises in my forum header. The worst is that hemy and chi's efforts are not heeded. But I realize that CG has to prioritize its "childishness". That's what makes their income. Which they must want to share between as few as possible.

Tabanus: Why would Annie be worried, btw? What is it that <she> wants to achieve? I asked in the Bistro what <CG> wants to achieve, but expect no asnswer. We won't be told how many they are, who they are, or what their goal is. So I guess it's just to play with the software, have fun and earn money. Grrr.

<Tab> I doubt they are earning enough money even to pay for the monthly server at the moment. I think we should support the new admins in their task to save this website. The "brand name" is still good but it won't be forever unless admins can solve some basic- but possibly very difficult problems such as Daniel's code and such.

We can trust that <Annie> wants <cg.com> to flourish and that she will do anything she can to further that goal. Having known her for a dozen years or more, I am 100 per cent convinced of this. I think we should remain patient.

Tabanus: I too trust Annie but is she paid for it? Is she the only replacement for Daniel? Sargon said on 29 October the slips <are being processed as I post this>, and 2 weeks ago that they <are beginning to process the backlog>. There are lies, damn lies, and statistics. I'll believe only what I see.

My turn to be impatient :) I remember you was impatient yourself some years ago.

Tabanus: <I doubt they are earning enough money even to pay for the monthly server> If I read my Google search correctly, Daniel bought a new (built in 2016) house in Cape Coral about one year ago. Now for rent at 1,650 USD per month. If that's the case, they are not totally broke.
