<tbone> Yes that track from Revolver is exquisite isn't it? Ironic that it is titled "For No one" when it always seems they are speaking directly to the heart of everyone who ever lived. Was it <George Martin> who got them using French horns? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ELl... |

Paul McCartney's meditation on the end of a love affair was one of the highlights on the Revolver album. For No One was written in March 1966 while Paul McCartney was on holiday with Jane Asher in Switzerland. It was originally called Why Did It Die? I was in Switzerland on my first skiing holiday. I'd done a bit of skiing in Help! and quite liked it, so I went back and ended up in a little bathroom in a Swiss chalet writing For No One. I remember the descending bassline trick that it's based on, and I remember the character in the song – the girl putting on her make-up. Occasionally we'd have an idea for some new kind of instrumentation, particularly for solos... On For No One I was interested in the French horn, because it was an instrument I'd always loved from when I was a kid. It's a beautiful sound, so I went to George Martin and said, 'How can we go about this?' And he said, 'Well, let me get the very finest.' Paul McCartney

<tbon> Amazing Beatles history. So it was Sir Paul's idea for the French horn? The Beatles made good use of that instrument eh? It appears on <Sergeant Pepper> as well if I'm not mistaken. I think <John Entwhistle> used it on a few tracks as well. The "Beatles Anthology" is that a book you have or are you referring to the gigantic multi part documentary film? |

They were rather notorious for skipping engagements. I was lucky enough to see them live. They were super funky and had a positive message. I am everyday people. |

<Tim> I also am one of the everyday people. I am one of the "blue ones" as mentioned by <Sly> in the song. I don't mean I'm sad- I mean I am actually colored blue, like a Smurf. |

<Tim> I haven't had tim to finish my <Hallowed Weiner> costume yet because I am racing to break 40 movies watched in the Facebook "Watch as many horror movies as possible from October 1-31 contest." I am already out of the prize winning group but if I make 40 movies I should finish in the upper half of the field. The best of the movies I watched this October is <Without Name (2016)>, a pretentious and boring Irish horror mystery. You may recall from previous episodes how opposite our tastes are in horror movies. That said, I believe you still might enjoy this film, provided you consume as much "marijuana" as possible before viewing. And even then, don't start the movie until you are peaking. Here is the movie, which I rated 8/10: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt470834... Luckily, since cg.com is a Canadian website, and "marijuana" is legal in Canada, I can now type the word "marijuana" without getting heat from "the man."
