I didn't receive any folder access, but the WNUFF MOVIE is uploading nicely. When it is finished I will "share" it with your EMU address and it should be bob's your uncle from there.

<Tim> In case you secretly wanted to know why <Estonian women chess players> are *extra* interesting.

Courtesy of the GARBLE translator:

<KURE, Urve (2nd VIII 1931 Tallinn - 7th VI 2016 Tallinn), chess player. Graduated from Tallinn in <<<the 16th month>>> of 1950. Famous for many years as one of the best <<<women's carnivores>>> in Estonia, she won 3 gold (1953, 1958, 1965), 3 silver (1957, 1959, 1964) and 3 bronze (1954, 1961, 1966) in the World Championship. <<<He>>> competed in the Estonian national team (19th place in the 1964 NL World Championship). Worked in production teams at Factor and Steel.>

WNUF IS WNUF!

Oct-21-19  Boomie: <Jessie>

WNUF is a heck of a thing, eh? Somewhat reminiscent of the Firesign Theater. Amusing send up of a suburban dystopia. The villains are fanatics who want to ruin Ween for all of us. Perhaps they left them at large to set up a sequel.

I literally cannot get WNUF of the old style TV ads and news personalities. That is some heavy nostalgia, if you grok me. How can I find You're fired! Sign theatre?

Oct-22-19  Paint My Dragon: <Pustifiable Jessimism>

I share your despair as regards the Blighty national team. There was a marked improvement in the second game (v Bulgaria), but when your opponents are such patzers, excessive praise seems unwarranted.

No doubt, I would give <Gordie Howe> a try out next time, if no-one else excels in the meantime. Our two fourth place finishes in the World Cup occurred under <Bobby Ewing-Robson> and <Billy Bathgate>, so there seems little point in flogging the ‘foreign manager’ horse any more. Horse flogging may, in any case, be distasteful these days.

I take your point about Howe’s ability to work wonders with limited resources. That would be a big tick for me too, even though the same was said of David Moyes managing ManU … and that didn’t turn out too well.

As for Spurs/ManU/Newcastle … the least said, the better. I have been mostly occupying myself with alternative sports these past few weeks. Chess-wise, the Grand Swiss from the Isle of Man has been essential viewing. More surprisingly, <NFL> footy is getting a head of steam now in the UK, since we got a decent round-up show with entertaining presenters and advert-free access to the week’s live action. Not forgetting the Rugby World Cup too, where England are looking a strong contender. The Redwings? I certainly miss watching the <NHL> (-it used to be on the BBC, but no longer), although the Maple Leafs were always my ‘go to’ team. Mind you, I probably watched for all the wrong reasons … the quality of the bar room brawling, in retrospect, ought not to have been the major attraction.

<Paint My Spurs better not be blowing yet another lead this morning>

That does look tasty! I didn't watch the trailer because they have spoilers, but <Benjamin Bumberpumpkin> will be playing <COUNT YORGA>? Sounds tasty brah thanks for the notice. I will be looking for that, but if there is any "box checking" at all, I will be deleting it immediately.

If I have to limit my viewing to movies made no later than 1945, I will do it. I cannot abide box checking. It destroys any ghost of verisimilitude, as does any other socialist realism.

Protip- there is nothing "real" about socialist realism. It is perhaps the least real "art" form in history. Also fascist monumentalism is on par and I will not abide that either.

<Tim> remember the live shows where we posted the most ridiculous versions of the names possible?

Well you should see some of the *real* names in these old Latvian chess journals.

<Dr. Nuut>, for example (real name)

Well I was watching way too much footy which is much less fun when your team has the worst form in world history. I've only been watching <Spurs> so I didn't notice the turn of form for the <Gunnar Old Scheviningen> squad.

Since <Spurs> didn't play this morning I have just switched on the <Reds v Gordie Howe> match to see more good news for the <Day of the Traffords>.

<Anthony Marshmallow> has returned, and in the first 10 minutes he is looking frisky.

*Count Chocula vs Frankenberry*

Nov-03-19  Paint My Dragon: <Eton Jess>

"Count Chocula vs Frankenberry" would make an excellent Halloween edition of Frankie & Benny's ice cream. Probably already is for all I know. My head is usually so firmly stuck into the <Cherry Garcia> that the rest of the range passes me by.

<Marshmallow>'s friskiness may flatter to deceive - the soft underbelly is never far away.

There was in fact some enjoyable football last week ... I can't remember all of the games, but the epic Southampton-Leicester encounter will of course live long in the memory.

Spurs will definitely push through this downturn soon. Theirs has to be the third best squad in the Prem, so the long overdue resurgence can't be far away. It may need to start with a more committed <Posh Neutrino> though. He needs to get that reluctant caretaker look wiped from his face.

I hear what you're saying about the check box TV/film culture ... it’s so deeply ingrained now, and renders a lot of shows unwatchable. However, in the case of the <Count Duckula> preview, the cascade of images looks so flippin' awesome, I'll probably put up with a lot. And that’s coming from someone who isn’t normally a horror enthusiast.

If I have one small worry, it's just that it's made by the <Sherlock> people and I didn't like Sherlock. Mainly because I hate <Martin Freeman>. Just Martin Freeman. Oh yes … and <Adam Sandler>. I’m pretty much okay with the rest of the acting fraternity. Who gets on your <John Wick>? Any actors you always avoid?

Yes and Jerry in fact sued HAAGEN DAAZ for that and won- he accepted an agreement in which they kept the ice cream brand and he got mad royalties. If I remember correctly. I could have it all wrong. I know he sued though.

I will not abide any SJW propaganda in any form, anywhere, ever. It is simply too sickening, not to mention actively evil. Every single story in the "news" paper in Canada is about SJW whining. Just this morning the COMMUNIST NANNY STATE 5th columnists were demanding that "heading the ball" be banned from youth football (soccer) in Canada because SCIENCE proves you will get Alzheimer's later on. THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS.

==========

I cannot abide <Canoe Reeves>, <Morgan Frogman>, <With Lorne Green as Adama Sandler>, and especially <Jim Communist>. He was ok in <The Harry S Truman Show>, but I cannot stand his constant mugging and promotion of socialism.

<HE IS A DEADLY CANKER ON THE BODY POLITIC AND I WILL HAVE HIM OUT>

I will mail burritos if you can tell me

1.Who wrote that line

2.Which actor portrayed Henry VIII saying it

3.Which actor in the same film said "But for Wales, Richard... for Wales"

===

Well <Spurs> will be happy for your vote of confidence. I don't even know when their game is this week because I left it too late and cannot find out now because of SPOILERS. I'll just have to wait until it pops up.

=================

On what is likely to be the only happy news here today, the google translator really went to town on this one. It's from a Latvian journal listing reporting on a match between Alexander Koblents and Theodoor de Jong in 1935.

I'm sure Latvian fans were chuffed that young Alexander won, but perhaps even more pleased by this phrasing:

<...eating strong de Jong (Holland) with 3.5 : 2.5>

Nov-03-19  Paint My Dragon: Well ... ordinarily ... whenever there's an inducement on offer ... my preferred way of spending a Sunday is to answer simple trivia questions about the 'classics'.

However, as luck would have it, I am dead against the needless slaughter of wild, or farmed <burritos>. So it won't be possible on this occasion :)

Spurs played this afternoon. No spoilers!
