From the infamous, and ill-conceived, horror adaptation of "Guys and Dolls":

"Can-do ru, Can-do ru, the man says the horse Can-do ru..."

Dec-22-19  mckmac: <Jess> Local group The Jews Brothers Band with their very catchy number, 'Up In The Borscht Belt':

Curious subject for a NZ group, you might well think, but chanteuse Linn Lorkin spent many years in New York, and accordionist Herschel Herschel is New York born and bred.

Dec-22-19  Boomie: In the olden days, we were stuck with "Mad" magazine. The comics were available but hadn't yet become a culture unto itself. "What Me Worry?"

<Tim> any truth to the rumor I'm currently spreading on Reddit that you made this 911 call amirite:

<Matt> well met! heh...

Outstanding and you know the extra funny part is that it's actually an excellent song eh?

"If you don't like the chicken soup, you can always order borscht"

Dec-22-19  Boomie: Kinky Friedman, who is a wonderfully funny author of detective novels, also had a band called the Texas Jew Boys.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8AH...

Steve Allen said of Friedman that he spread more joy than Ross Perot's ears.

<Teem>

Harvey Kurtzman and Will Elder were geniuses at serving totally inappropriate humor to children.

I particularly remember my first servings of "Mickey Rodent" and "Starchie".

I can't possibly express the delight I felt when Jughead (Bottleneck) pulled a shiv on Reggie.

Now THAT'S comedy.

Dec-22-19  Boomie: "you made this 911 call amirite"

I would never betray a sighting to the authorities. We protect our Squatch in these parts. Just don't do a voice comparison with my famous Yaz tease.

<Tim> But that's where I first discovered the truth!

I compared the audio of your phone call to <Yaz> with the <911 Call>.

My computer told me there was a 120% chance it was a voice match, 99.9999999 times out of GOOGOL.

Who are we to argue with scienterrific proof?

Dec-22-19  Boomie: "Now THAT'S comedy."

I'm afraid to see what they have done with Betty and Veronica.

<Tim> Here they are- the punchline of the comic was <Starchie> finally realizes, too late, that Betty and Veronica were IDENTICAL except for hair color.

Here is scienterrific proof:

Good call <Tim> I was just reading about a world hysterical Sasquatch sighting in Kitimat not two hours ago.

I recently bolstered my Bigfoot book collection at the "Sasquatch Museum" in Harrison Hot Springs.

Harrison also boasts "Sasquatch provincial park" and over a dozen fine Bigfoot statues.

I hike there regularly, but so far I have only seen around a dozen or so Bigfeet.

Dec-22-19  Boomie: I have to admit that Biddy is more my type.

Funny coinkidink - in one of Da Kinkstah's great books, he dates two gals. Uptown Judy and Downtown Judy. He has a nice thing going until one day he sobers up and realizes that they are the same woman.

Dec-22-19  Boomie: "Back Bacon, Biscuits Carambia"
Dec-22-19  mckmac: <Boomie> That Kinky Friedman clip is a total crack-up. I see in the comments section that it was filmed for the TV program 'Austin City Limits', but mysteriously never aired...
Dec-22-19  Boomie: <mckmac>

For some reason they also failed to air "They Ain't Making Jews Like Jesus Anymore".

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FS...

His books are filled with this kind of irreverent humor. I can't recommend them more highly.

<Matt, Tim>

Nothing strange or mysterious here. It's simply political "correctness" and it left unchecked, it will lead inevitably to the end of free speech and the end of authentic art.

Scienterrific analysis:

Dec-22-19  Boomie: Speaking of irreverent music, this is a favorite of mine. "Origin of Species by Chris Smither.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVb...

"Eve said 'Adam' snakes, I've had 'em. Let's get out of here." Heh.

The guitar playing is superb also. He makes it look so easy, which it ain't.

<Tim> that is some fabulous old timey geetar picking and such.

<McCabe's> is the only bar in Tonasket, Washington State, if I remember correctly...
