I never heard of him but I like the cut of this <Kinky's> jib. This is how he says "hello" to the interviewer:

<Tim> Well I'm a fan of Texas, though I haven't been there. I did, however, co-write "Galveston" with <Jimmy Webb>. I also suggested to <Forest Gump> that he should buy a shrimp boat in Texas. Finally, on a closely related topic, in 1967 I nailed <Jose Feliciano> in the washroom of the "El Topo" in San Antonio. Here is shocking rare video evidence:

Linn Lorkin really is a national treasure. She is supremely talented, but in a small country like ours, it is brutally difficult for a working musician to make a living. This next song addresses that very issue: "For a hundred lousy bucks/Gee it was a bummer/Cold and tired and homeward bound/In the Hillman Hunter" https://youtu.be/sip05PqTa-c
This article from 2007 captures her quite well:

<Matt>
How delightful is <Linn Lorkin>. She reminds me of <Kurt Weil>, with less of the horror undertone but all of the atmosphere and satire. I had no idea <New Zealand> boasted this kind of music. I knew about <Hollie Fullbrook> well enough to nag my niece into learning how to play "Bird in the Thyme." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kSc... I heard this in a stunningly good documentary about the devastating plane crash in Antarctica where men had to retrieve the frozen bodies by digging them out. This resulted in more than a few cases of PTSD. Anyways they kept playing "Bird in the Thyme" as the refrain. My favorite <Hollie Fullbrook> number is "Adelphi Apartments": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yY... |

<Paint My Dragon> I am soldiering on Christmas smorgasborgen and will be back after I see the <Spurs> fixture for footy analysis. I stayed up all night watching footy and I'm up to <City v City> right now, but I just thought of something I had to run by you. <Leicester> is back and if anything they look stronger than they were when they won the title with the traitor <Mah money rez>. How could they get any better? By having <Barnes> and <Vardy> switch names. <Jamie Barnes> and <Hardy Vardy> would make a better fit. |

|
Dec-23-19 | | mckmac: <Jess> Hollie Fullbrook really is something special. She's had considerable success and acclaim, not only at home, but world-wide too. 'Adelphi Apartments' reminds me of her first song that really made people sit up and take notice. 'You at the Museum, Me in the Wintergarden':

One of the many adventure games I've played was "Casebook". It is set in Dunedin, NZ and stars singer-songwriter Julian Temple. Temple is from a family of musicians and has a band, The Julian Temple Band, which has been together for about 15 years. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TkR... |
|
Dec-23-19 | | mckmac: <Boomie> Had not heard The Julian Temple Band before. They sound real good. As for Adventure Games, that's a whole world I've managed to miss out on. Intriguing. I see that Temple is a from the US originally. As a guitarist yourself, you might like the playing of Nigel Gavin, who also is American born but Kiwi domiciled. He's one of those musicians that other musicians call a "monster". https://youtu.be/LFQaiiDm2Nc |

Dec-23-19 | | Boomie: <mckmac>
Nigel Gavin shows a restraint that leaves the listener begging for more. A fretless 12 string guitar is a rare beastie. Two guitarists dominated air time back in the hippie times. Leo Kottke's Armadillo Album is just astonishing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPP... Ry Cooder, who is my all time favorite, released an album of Depression era songs. His version of Woody Guthrie's "Vigilante Man" is wonderful. One of the finest slide guitar players ever. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4A... |

Argh our Mighty Caseys have struck out- again.
Now is the time for silent gnashing of the teeth and rending of the garments, followed by hurling our computers out the window amirite. WE ALONE BEWEEP OUR OUTCAST STATE, AND TROUBLE DEAF HEAVEN WITH OUR BOOTLESS CRIES |
|
Dec-24-19 | | mckmac: <Boomie> I've heard some Ry Cooder, but clearly not enough. Thought his soundtrack work on 'Paris Texas' was amazing. And what he did in helping introduce 'The Bueno Vista Social Club' to a waiting world was just super admirable. Totally made the planet a better place. Happy holidays to you, and to <Jess>. Many thanks - it's always such a pleasure to drop by your gaff. |

Dec-24-19 | | Paint My Dragon: <Happy Jessimas> It's almost here ... I'm referring of course to that torrid time when I have to waste three hours of my life wrapping presents. The <Mighty Caseys> are not known to me but if it's a computer glitch, then I hope I'm not adding to your misery by reporting that all my other AVI files seem to be working fine. I can't explain the loss of vision on the one that you sent, but listening to the audio was kind of exciting anyway, as it allowed me to imagine the most brilliant goal never scored in all Premiership history. <Hardy Vardy> - I like it. Speaking of Hardy, I watched <The Drop> recently, in which Tom sports his best American accent. I think he got away with it. Good film ... especially if you're fond of <Taxi Driver> with <Emperor Bobby Nero>. In a tribute to Spitfire pilots everywhere (I made that bit up) Tom even wears an aviator-style jacket, complete with faux fur collar. I'm sure that will pique your interest, if you've not seen it already. I am also part way through <A Christmas Carol>, produced by Hardy Son & Baker, Tom's company, the very team that brought us <Peaky> and <Taboo>. Dark and very bleak indeed. I'm looking forward to the rest of it. <Guy Pierce My Nipples> has got Ebeneezer covered. |

<Ozzy Ardiles>
lol "Mighty Casey" is the American baseball poem in which the world's greatest batter strikes out- "There is no joy in Mudville, Mighty Casey has struck out." Our <Caseys> are ManU and Spurs. I watched both matches last night and felt my soul shrivel up into a tiny lump of coal. How can a team whup ManCity and then play like that against Twatford. Although I was happy for Nigel Pearson. At least <Good Golly Gustoffersen> managed that Derby. <The Special Bun> has been positive, but he keeps losing matches against serious opposition. Even against Chelsea who couldn't possibly have been in worse form. I really doubt it's the <Bun's> fault, although he should be starting <Hans Christian Anderson> every game all game from the start. Thanks for the <Hardy Vardy> tips! I will get <A Christmas Carol> now and watch it for Christmas. Did you recognize the <Sheakespr>? "I alone beweep etc etc."
My old Dad used to bellow that at the top of his lungs every morning. It was his version of a family "alarm clock." |

<Ozzy and Harriet Ardiles> I certainly have seen <The Drop>. I just went to the IMDB page and saw that I rated it 9/10. I'd forgotten <NOOME RAPE SEED> was in that she is one of my favorite actors. |

Dec-24-19 | | Paint My Dragon: Alas, poor Yorick, my knowledge of <Willy Shakespeare> is no better than my knowledge of <American Baseball Poems>. I do still remember stupidly long quotes from Macbeth, but always thought that The Witches were criminally underused. At school, the only books that I properly read were Tom Hardy's <Mayor of Caster Sugar> and Harper Lee's <To Grill a Mockingbird>. While pretending to read other fine works of literature I simply removed the dust cover and wrapped it around the most conveniently sized chess book on my shelf. How else was one supposed to find one's way through the complications of the Sicilian <Poisoned Prawn>? Yeah, the footy was almost a complete write-off. It was however a good week for some <Fantasy> action ... Me: 73 points, Magnus: 26 points
Yes!

Dec-24-19 | | Boomie: <mckmac: Ry Cooder> He has produced a mountain of work over the years. He's played with everyone from the Rolling Stones to Ravi Shankar. The song FDR in Trinidad on Into the Purple Valley is a personal favorite. "His visit to the island is bound to be
An epoch in local history.
Definitely marking a new era.
Keeping Trinidad in America."
Heh. The depression was awful but they had some great music then. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oyd... |

Merry Christmas <Hozza!> What a great footy article thanks brah.
7. Gazza
6. Jenna
5. Jonna
4. Blanna
3. Macca
2. Hozza (!)
1. Greeva
I never even heard of most of them eh? The criteria were good though, concentrating on the players who led <Spurs> during the years when they actually won twatting trophies (pardon my French). Here is my list, based on people I already heard of before. Actually it's mainly based on ex-Spurs greats who are currently footy pundits on the telly. Also I don't know enough how to rank them, so just 7 and you can put them in any order: 7. Gazza (Paul Gascoigne)
6. Shearra (Alan Shearer)
5. Ozza (Ossie Ardiles)
4. Jenna (Germaine Jenas)
3. Hozza (!) (Glen Hoddle)
2. Wrigga (Ian Wright)
1. Greeva (Jimmy Greaves)
