<Matt> Doh! Perhaps even worse news for User: fusilli, if I remember correctly (and I usually don't), they have discovered an even deeper trench, so our Italian-American Master is no longer the record holder...>

WHAT?? Noooooooo...!!!

Argentine-American, but it's ok, I've been taken for Italian many times, and I have Italian ancestry.

I am happy to be corrected, my tasty fusilli with braised snails and a dash of lemon!

It's been driving me crazy for some time now so I'm going to do a very rare GOOGOL SERCH

VERY GOOD NEWS

I had that wrong. Turns out that the "new" record holder is merely a pawn in your game...

A scienterrific article sheds light on this terrifying mystery:

<The deepest part of the ocean is called the Challenger Deep and is located beneath the western Pacific Ocean in the southern end of the <<<Mariana Trench>>>, which runs several hundred kilometers southwest of the U.S. territorial island of Guam. Challenger Deep is approximately 36,200 feet deep.>

Fusilli: Phew! Yeah, nothing has changed then. The Challenger Deep is the deepest stretch, and it was reached twice with manned submersibles. One of these deep dives was piloted by Canadian film director David Cameron in 2012 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deeps...). It took him over two hours to reach the bottom and he spent three hours exploring it. I saw a documentary about the <Mariana Trench> a long time ago and if memory serves, Cameron spotted animal life in the Challenger Deep... at that pressure! I think it was crawling creatures... I am being lazy, of course I could check this easily online. I am thinking of looking for a <Mariana Trench> documentary again.
Dec-28-19  Boomie: A blurb on deep lifeforms:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chall...

Did you know the trench coat was designed to withstand immense pressures? It is ideal for concealing useful tools such as a sawed-off shotgun.

<Cold Fusilli with thin Mortadella slices and lemon>

It's a wise man who knows himself sir.

Only one error:

<I saw a documentary about the <<<Mariana Trench>>> a long time ago and if memory serves, Cameron spotted animal life in the Challenger Deep... at that pressure!>

<I saw a documentary about the <<<myself>>> a long time ago and if memory serves, Cameron spotted animal life in the Challenger Deep... at that pressure!>

There fixed it for you.

Interestingly, <Cameron Diaz> got her degree from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute. She was a classmate of <Richard Dreyfuss ("Hooper")> and a few other imaginary pupils.

  Fusilli: <Boomie> <...deep life forms>

Fascinating!

<Here, in an instant, was the answer that biologists had asked for the decades. Could life exist in the greatest depths of the ocean? It could!>

(From your link)

As it happens, I am currently reading Elizabeth Kolbert's <The Sixth Extinction>, and this theme fits perfectly.

Dec-28-19  Boomie: <Fusilli: <JFQ> Oh, you made me laugh.>

She will have that effect on you if you're not careful.

Our gracious Queen and I have been tickling each other for longer than we care to remember. For about 10 years, everything we posted related to lines in the Godfather movies. We are especially fond of word play and self deprecating humor.

<deep life> I have a cockamamie theory which states that the story of life is almost entirely the story of bacteria. All other so called higher forms must serve bacteria to live. All Hail Bacteria!

Fusilli: <Boomie> I know, I love her humor. I am not so familiar with yours, but I always like your posts.

<For about 10 years, everything we posted related to lines in the Godfather movies.> Oh, but <I love the smell of coffee in the morning> is a reference to the most famous line in <Apocalyse Now> together with <the horror>, of course. One of the best movies ever, I'd say.

  jessicafischerqueen:

<Movies> I recommend seeing the 12 hour cut of the <Godfather Saga>. It includes only parts I and II, which were shot concurrently. There are two versions of this cut- a chronological one, and one that retains the flashback format we seen in the theatrical releases.

I also recommend the extended cut of <Apocalypse Now>, of which there are at least two versions. One version spends a lot of time on the visit to the "lost French legion" in the jungle, including a scene where Chef nails the brunette playboy bunny they saw in the "USO Show" segment (Presented by the legendary Bill Graham).

A second version shows an abbreviated account of the "lost legion" but includes a running segment in which they steal Robert Duvall's surf board. Periodically throughout the film you hear a taped voice from a helicopter above asking them to return the surf board.

The extended edits of <The Godfather> are brilliant.

The extended edits of <Apocalypse Now> are somewhat interesting, but the main service they provide is to confirm just how skillful the original theatrical edit was.

<Books>

The <Mario Puzo> novel "The Godfather" is a great read, particularly in tandem with the movie. You might be surprised by how much extra material you can fit inside one of these newfangled "novels."

<Conrad> wrote "Heart of Darkness" in his native Polish, and then translated it- flawlessly- into English.

Marlowe to Mr. Kurtz, just as he is about to cross the clearing to "get himself adored" by the natives:

<"You will be lost...">

Kurtz actually listens to this, and forgoes his last indulgence.

The full passage bears a read:

<"You will be lost."

I had accidentally said the right thing, though he could not possibly have been more lost than he was at that very moment.>

<Teem> lol Wasn't <Ernie Ford> a professional "based balls" player?

One of many brilliant touches in this parody is the way they changed <The Doors> melody just enough to avoid getting sued.

Although one might argue, as I would, that using the original melody should fall under "fair educational use."

I was educated by this fine film, I can assure you. I didn't know half this stuff:

<Fashion Time>

Yes I'm not a fan of the full sleeve/back/head tattoos favored among juggalos andsoccer players.

To the credit of the "tattoo," however, its ability to span the very lowest of the socioeconomic food chain (juggalos) and the very highest (Premier League soccer players), is certainly good business.

The tattoo understands that "bidness take care a bidness."
