<Spurs> get another clean sheet and still show no indication they are better than a run of the mill, middle of the table club. I counsel firing the lot of them, including <Mr. Levy>. Best to start over, possibly purchasing the plucky <St. Ives Branch Girl Scouts> squad and using that as a fertile building block for the <Tottenham New Spurs>. ---------
<Painted Lady>: In your defense, the first half of that fixture really was belting. The impotence of a far from game fit squad and <The Special Bun> looking like he'd rather be anywhere else but here, today- not so much. <The Bun> might take solace in this fine <Elvis Costello> number. Who knew that one day it would become the new <Spurs> "fight" song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lrj... |
|
| Jul-11-20 | | Paint My Dragon: <Pustifiable Jessimism> Oh gosh, no ... I thought that performance from Spurs was pretty awful. I hadn’t started watching when I said “What a belter!”. It was entirely in anticipation of two ripping football shows, but my hopes were soon dashed. It seemed there were some troubling issues at the <Lack of Vitality> Stadium. For example: 1. There were too few Tootingham players running into space looking for a pass. 2. <Ndumbell> ambled around like an old carthorse for most of his time on the pitch, and 3. I lost count of the times that <Harry Wimps> got the ball on the front edge of the penalty area and instead of trying a defence splitting pass, a shot, a one-two, or a cheeky dribble, invariably opted for the backwards pass. I thought he was better than that, but the whole team looked like they had an air of trepidation about them. Your idea is good. Time to change it up. I’ve heard that the <Barrow-in-Furness Basket Weaving Society> have a Sunday league team who can put in an extra shift. The offer of a free bundle of wicker could easily cement the deal. Otherwise, Levy should engage those <Kremlin Bots> to start telling us how well the team is playing. It would be more convincing than a <MoreVino> after match interview, that’s for sure. |

| Jul-11-20 | | Paint My Dragon: <The impotence of a far from game fit squad and <The Special Bun> looking like he'd rather be anywhere else but here, today- not so much.> Yes, absolutely. You said it more succinctly than I did. I wonder if Costello ever imagined those oversize glasses would one day become fashionable? A real humdinger of a song in its time. |

<Paint De Leon> Yes to be sure, and certainly the greatest reverse recruitment addy in history. In the last verse I believe Elvis is talking about English footballers (long may their shadow continue to grow): <"With the boys from the Mersey and the Thames and the Tyne"> |

<PMD Syndrome>
In the first half <Gordie Howe's> lads did him proud. They came out of the gate running and were unlucky not to take all 3 points. <Spurs> were lively at first as well, but all that changed far too quickly. Fun fact: Did you know that England's best hockey player was <Geordie Howe>? |
|
| Jul-12-20 | | Cibator: Well, after that little fiasco, I've just made my biggest-ever bet (not that that's actually very much) on the <Arse> to take out tomorrow's N London derby. Should yield a good return. (Unless the <Art-Eater>'s crowd are too distracted by preps for the forthcoming St Totteringham's Day whoopee. Even then, it seems unlikely the <Eternal Virgins> will be able to capitalise.) |
|
| Jul-12-20 | | Paint My Dragon: <Jessiah Complex> <Gordie> is a <Geordie> somehow reminds me of <Gordon is a Moron> LOL https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LTK...
Double shudder (I'd forgotten how camp the singer's voice was AND who was doing the intro). No, if <Gordie> was a <Geordie> we'd have a statue of him somewhere. Quite an impressive nickname though ... "Mr Hockey". Forever a GOAT with that one. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen:
<Cibator> did you win your bet? It took me this long to figure out you were talking about the <Arsenal v Spurs> fixture. I'm watching it now.
QUESTION why has Arsenal been telling me to "Visit Rwanda" for the last 10 years. I GUARANTEE that not one of those lads in a red jersey could pick Rwanda out on a map. I would bet a tenner that over half of them don't know it is in Africa. When I settle in for an afternoon of footy I'm not really looking for crazy travel advice. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen:
<Cibator> I hope you bet on <Spurs>. That wasn't a bad game to watch, though footy really needs a stadium full of fans eh. <President Obamayang> was really unlucky not to score- I think he's easily the best player on either team. I wonder if he's regretting having come to Arsenal... |
|
| Jul-14-20 | | Cibator: <jessicafischerqueen:
<Cibator> I hope you bet on <Spurs>.>No, <Jess>, I never bet ON them. That way double disappointment (both financial and sporting) too often lies. My "contra-betting" assures at least one positive outcome every time, even if some would regard that as a miserable, cautious and even mildly dishonourable (OK, "dishonorable", seeing you're in N America) attitude to adopt. <It took me this long to figure out you were talking about the <Arsenal v Spurs> fixture.> So I guess the ref. to "St Totteringham's Day" flew over yer 'ead as well, Guv? Still not clear whether it, or that other, infinitely more enjoyable occasion "The Feast Of Arsover" (check spelling), gets to be held this year. (It's always one or the other .... never both or neither.) |
|
| Jul-14-20 | | Cibator: PS: I keep forgetting you don't Google. (If you don't like the idea of being tracked, you could try duckduckgo.com instead. Alternatively, one is always ready to clarify any obscurities.) |

 | | jessicafischerqueen:
<Cibator> I don't care who tracks me. I just don't like a guy named GOOGLE telling me what's what. I want my information to be the same as my family and friends: terribly unreliable. Only in this fashion can the interests of sciencing be served. I finally understand! So in this latest edition of the <North Badgerton Derby> it was indeed "St. Totteringham's Day"! We finally won something but you don't get a trophy for it. So you *did* win your bet, which was an over/under flatter parlay with the Derby and the results of the 10th race at Doncaster. How much did you win? Also did you win Euros or *real* currency. I don't recognize any "world currency." I only recognize POUND STERLING. Or possibly RAHIM STERLING. Depends on how well he does for Blighty. |

<Pint My Flagon> Good afternoon.
I was afraid to click on your link in case it was <Jimmy Saville> eh. I was very, very early on the despising him bandwagon. I started 30 years ago, if I remember correctly. <Spurs> won the North Badgerton THOMAS TRENT DARBY!! Finally some good news.
This science will help explain: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynI... |
|
| Jul-16-20 | | Paint My Dragon: <Jess'll Fix It> Yeah, quite right to avoid. <Jimbo> was just about the creepiest guy to walk the planet. Amazing recovery by the <Harry Hotspurs> after a poor spell. I enjoyed both the game and the <Jenius> after-match analysis on MOTD. Typically, ManU regressed to their former shoddy selves. We need at least one week when BOTH clubs put in a performance. Now just two and a half gameweeks left and the new money ManCs are back in Europe, so there's one less place to fight over. The tension will soon be unbearable. <Ole Soulsearcher> needs to get a grip. |
|
Jul-16-20
 | | jessicafischerqueen:
Why were they threatening to kick the MANCies out of Europe? Did they insist on paying for everything in POUNDS RAHIM STERLING? And why didn't they kick them out? Did they invoke the "faint hope" clause? This would be the faint hope that the tournament would be any good without the 2nd best English club. The <German Genius> is a great analyst. Just not quite as great as <Gary Neville Chamberlain>. Although European history suggests otherwise. |
|
Jul-16-20
 | | jessicafischerqueen:
<Harry and the Hendersons> may be drifting dangerously close to <Christian Bale> territory. When <Bale> was still terrifically talented on <Real>, his serious leg injuries became chronic. Every time he was out for an extended period it was harder for him to reach match fitness. And when he did, he'd get the same injury. <Harry Houdini> may be approaching the time when he can't pull off the magic recovery of his world class striking form. |
|
| Jul-16-20 | | Paint My Dragon: <Fiscal Queen> I wasn't really paying much attention, but I think the <ghastly pale blues> were chucked out for some topsy-turvy <fibbertigibbeting> involving a torrent of <filthy luka modric>, copious wedges of <pounds raheem sterling> and a <Christian Bale> of gold bullion. This gave rise to a breech of the cap set for transfers arriving at Maine Road. Although what they were doing travelling to New England was never made clear. I hope that puts it to bed. Needless to say, an appeal was successful and ... well, I already said it was needless to say, so I won't say it. You did say more important things though ... <Kane and Able> may not always remain <Able>. His current contract was reward for his World Cup golden boot and this should have been the pinnacle of his career. I too see the <Bale> transfer becoming a strong possibility, but it must be on <Tooting Ham>'s terms - a huge wage cut to acknowledge his advancing years and injury history would have to be implemented. As well as his acceptance that he is a squad player with no special rights to a starting place. If he's a good boy, I might let him wear <Hosay>'s tricorn hat in the dressing room as a tribute to his former glories. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen:
"The New England"?
What's wrong with the Old England. I didn't get where I am today by watching footy from New England. Your theory that <Jose Jiminez> is a Frenchman, on the other hand, explains a lot. Such as his loss at the <Agincourt Tournament>, for one. Is the <Spurs> lack of brain trust really thinking of shipping <Baley Bridge> back to White Hart Lane? It would make more sense to offer a contract to an actual white hart. You'd get more pace for one. <Bale of Cotton> is no longer the fastest man over 7 feet tall eh. |
|
| Jul-16-20 | | Paint My Dragon: I confess I haven't seen <Hay Bale> play in a long time, so whether he still leaves scorch marks in the turf is open to speculation. Might be worth a risk at a bargain basement price. Well, half time at Leicester v SheffU. Been a very competitive first half. <Bendin' Todgers'> team for choice at the moment. Speaking of Todgers, here is how he dealt with an over-inflated <Pound Sterling> back in his Liverpool days ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wuj... |
