Cheers.

jessicafischerqueen: <Benzol> fabulous- how did you solve the mystery? Where did you find the information?

Two additional points: you are aware that <Edward Winter> has discussed the possibility that "Rubintein's Immortal" may have been played against <Glucksberg> OR <Glicksberg>?

Apparently they are two different guys.

Also, you know that <Dr. Samuel Szapiro> is the same man as <Salomon Szapiro>, who died at Chelmno extermination camp during the Holocaust? They have two separate entries in <Gaige> but are listed with the same birthday and death day. I have another source that confirms this as well.

Did you know that "Alexander Flamberg" is not written on his gravestone? His Jewish name is on it instead.

This was not uncommon for Polish Jewish chessmasters, to use a "less Jewish" version of their name. Poland was a virulently AntiSemitic state in the early to mid 20th century.

You should see some of the interviews in Claude Lanzmann's film "Shoah" to confirm this.

Anyways, wonderful work by you!

You should alert <Crawfb5> about your stunning find on this game.

<Big> did you know the mystery was solved?

Jul-11-11  Benzol: <jessicafischerqueen> <<Benzol> fabulous- how did you solve the mystery? Where did you find the information?>

I have the book on Najdorf by Tomasz Lissowski, Adrian Mikhalchishin & Miguel Najdorf.

It is the second game in the Selected Games section of the book and has the following editorial comment [ Numerous sources wrongly give the loser's name here as Szapiro (or Shapiro, Schapiro). Gliksberg from Lodz should no be confused with the second - category Warsaw player Glucksberg (See Game 3). - TL].

jessicafischerqueen: <Benzol> thank you so much! Not five seconds ago I purchased that <Najdorf> book, thanks to the miracle of "Amazon one click buying."

I'll have to wait until I go home on Winter vacation to get it though, as they mail the books to my Mom's house.

I don't trust any company getting a Korean address correct.

Did you know they write them backwards?

It's true. Or I guess maybe we write them backwards.

They start with the Country first and end with the name of the addressee.

However, I didn't get where I am today by criticizing South Korea. They have come a long way in International Relations since they bombed Pearl Harbor.

Jul-11-11  Beadyeyezz: Hey jess....think im safe to say hi to yer now with this username?? Hope your well, your a top errm(normally id say chick but i dont think thats appropriate here lol)...female lol.. You've been a big help, and along with certain others on this site,iv nothing but respect for you, you've been really nice and i do appreciate your friendship...thanks for your support through "stuff"....;-)

jessicafischerqueen: <Beadyeyezz> it's no worries, everyone deserves respect and a fresh start. Probably a good idea to avoid antagonizing <The Focus> however, since you guys don't get along that well.

Also I already know you are aware of this, but just for the public record- <The Focus> is a friend of mine, and I'm not going to get in the middle of any fights between any of my friends.

Half of my friends can't stand the other half, and I suspect many of them secretly can't stand me either!

However, onward and upwards. You can call me a "chick" if you want to, but I'm not really a "chick" in the <Neve Campbell> sense.

Did you get a gander at the Neve Campbell photo <FSR> posted on the Naka-Goldsby page?

Speaking of GREAT MOMENTS IN BAZOOMBA HISTORY.

All the best,

jessicafischerqueen: <Beadyeyezz> also I'd like to throw in props to my friend <Travis Bickle's> forum- it's a vibrant forum for discussion of great music and sometimes movies, and he is a very generous host. I post there a lot and enjoy the discussion, and he is a true expert on Beatles history.

Except he keeps insisting that <Peter Gabriel> is not quite as great as <Paul McCartney>. LOL!

Still, otherwise he has very good taste in music, particularly with regard to guitar heroes.

<Travis> is his "own man" who prefers to hoe his own row rather than follow any trends.

Jul-11-11  Benzol: <Jess> Great that you've bought the Najdorf book. I don't think you'll regret purchasing it.

I didn't know that the Rubinstein - Rotlewi game wasn't played by Rotlewi. Is that a speculation or a definite fact?

Poland has historially suffered from the tragedy of having to fall either in the German or Russian sphere of influence and neither country has treated its Jewish populace well.

Korean addresses are done in what would seem a backwards manner to Western eyes. That could present a problem. I work for New Zealand Post at the International mail centre and that was something I didn't know. Hopefully my boss doesn't know it either.

jessicafischerqueen: <Benzol> I am truly dumb- and not at all qualified to work in chess history.

For the SECOND TIME I have confused "Rubinstein's Immortal" and "The Polish Immortal."

How embarrassing.

NAJDORF v. Glucksberg/Glicksberg is the possible controversy according to the discussion on <Edward Winter's> site.

<FSR> just corrected me a few weeks ago for confusing the two IMMORTAL GAMES there as well so I am really embarrassed.

Possibly I am going senile. The saddest part is how many hours I actually spent researching both of the games.

Jul-12-11  Thanh Phan: Hello <jessicafischerqueen> Send the best toward learning the Cyrillic alphabet, both past and present as changes in the chess books would appear.

Slow phases of learning might arrive, remember to take breaks if need and watch alphabet songs. Many of them are helpful and cute.

I was under the impression that another country provided the bombing of Pearl Harbor, maybe I confused history once again. Many luck and take care ~Thanh

jessicafischerqueen: <Thanh Phan> thanks for valuable advice- and yes you are right it was Japan who bombed Pearl Harbor on December 7th 1941, a "Day that will live in Infamy."

The Japanese also enslaved Korea in the period before and during World War II.

Jul-12-11  Thanh Phan: <jessicafisherqueen> Not the best times in history then, yet I have hopes for the future.

Different note: The end of the Space Shuttle Program ~ Wonder what are next for Space

Jul-12-11  fab4: Nah.. keep it <Fab>

I'm not too enamoured with <F> ! lol

Yes re 'delete' thanks for that and I'll let you know.. tho hopefully there won't be that many..or any.

Jul-12-11  madlydeeply: i think this game must have inspired young Bobby. Its all center and logic and classical.

Jul-12-11  TheFocus: <jess> You might want to check out the following from <Winter>'s Chess Notes. A lot of pictures from the USA - USSR Team match 1954. The correspondent wanted to know if Bobby Fischer could be seen anywhere in the crowds.
