jessicafischerqueen: <chancho> no, not for some time either-

Annie, Big Crawdaddy, Travis, my man Richard, and not least of all *you* have all been working with me to compile resources for at least a dozen future chess documentaries.

So here's an update:

I now have a well-organized archive system for images, film clips, books, articles, and games for each chessmaster I'm interested in.

At the moment, I'm mainly finding and storing these resources, and also learning how to use new computer software in order to increase the production quality of my films.

This process involves much gnashing of teeth and tearing of hair.

Learning how to use these programs and then make them compatible with each other is proving a daunting task, but worth it, I hope, if I ever sort it out.

jessicafischerqueen: I'm also trying to learn how to read Russian and understand spoken Russian.

Despite the many, many good online teaching resources, this is proving a very time consuming task.

However, it's struck me on more than one occasion that if I actually end up being able to understand Russian- even a little bit- this itself is probably more "worthwhile" than making chess documentaries.

However, it's probably not a good idea for chess enthusiasts to think too much about what's a "worthwhile" way to spend one's time.

I find all aspects of chess- playing, researching, creating videos- fun.

Fun fun fun fun fun.

It's way more fun than all the work I had to to at university.

If I could have gone to a Chess History University I would have.

If they existed, and you could get a job after.

My daughter learned to speak German.
Now, she is getting married to a German.
The wedding is on the 16th.

jessicafischerqueen: <fab> dammit I accidentally erased your post-

I've been trying to learn Russian for a few months now in order to translate some rare Russian chess books I have- or parts of them, to help research chess history documentaries.

I'm trying to learn spoken Russian so I can understand more of what the narrators are saying on the scads of Russian Chess TV shows and various documentaries I've got ahold of.

LIFE Master AJ: To answer your earlier comments, yes the positive feedback far outweighs the negative.

But sometimes the negative words stay with me a lot longer ... maybe influence my actions a little too much ...
