 | | LIFE Master AJ: Jess: I predict the website:

will be back in a week or two. The last time that this happened, Jeff was doing a massive update. |

<jessicafischerqueen: <AJ> thanks for the cheery prediction- last time Mr. Sonas did a big update, how long was chessmetrics down?
<It's getting on five days this time. <It's inconceivable he wouldn't reopen it right? <He seems to have a great business going and he is famous for his chessmetrics system.>>> >> > I answered:
<Jess> Sadly - ANYTHING is possible on the Internet. The EXCITE group was a multi-million dollar business when they started, however, they disappeared almost overnight. I am praying that Jeff will re-open his site. (I sent him an e-mail, I am hoping he will reply.) Until then, we can all use the following link: http://web.archive.org/web/20090626... to access (at least one copy) of his website. |

 | | LIFE Master AJ: Jess: Good news! I got the following e-mail from Jeff. << Thanks for the tip AJ! I didn’t know the website was down. Actually I have a friend who hosts it for me for very little money and it hasn’t been down for years (until now) to my knowledge. Just a hiccup. You can assure your contacts that it will be back up once I work through whatever the problem is. It is obviously pretty self-running although increasingly out of date, I am afraid! For many years I have been on-and-off trying to figure out how to make it easy to update new games into it, and I think I am nearing a solution, though it may still be a year or two away from execution. Feel free to pass this information on, if you would like. -- Jeff> > |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <AJ>!!!
This is fabulous news!
Outstanding, thanks so much for taking the time to alert <Jeff Sonas>- It's a Christmas Miracle!!!
And six months early too. |

Jul-07-11 | | TheFocus: <jess> I am just glad to see that <Olimpbase> is still running. It is one of my favorite sites for information on the Olympiads. I still have to complete some work from there for a project. I am also currently working on a new game collection: Bobby's 1964 Simultaneous Exhibition Tour. I am uploading all the missing games from that tour. There are about 50 missing. |
|
Jul-07-11
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <TheFocus> Yes I saw you were completing that new Bobby Games collection- very exciting! Be sure to post it here in my forum when you finish, so we can add it to our list of Bobby Tournaments in my profile. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <TheFocus> I too use the Olimpbase site all the time- invaluable data that's for sure. However, I'm sure you already know this- the capsule player biographies at that otherwise great site are absolutely not to be trusted. |
|
Jul-07-11 | | TheFocus: After the 64 Tour, I am going to upload any other blitz and simul games from other years as one collection, also. Then <CG> will have every Fischer game known. I can't thank Daniel of <CG> staff enough for being patient with my typos. But I am double-checking everything score-wise so there will be no hold-ups. But 10 games have been submitted already. 2 tournament games, 1 blitz, the Euwe match game 2 unknown moves, 6 simuls, 2 game corrections. |

 | | LIFE Master AJ: Morozevich vs Kramnik, 2008 One person implied that my web pages are only "steals" ('copy-and-paste') from other authors. I would appreciate it if you gave your honest opinion on this subject. |
|
Jul-08-11 | | Travis Bickle: Jess did you get my 2 emails? |
|
Jul-08-11 | | Colonel Mortimer: <LIFE Master AJ:> <One person implied that my web pages are only "steals" ('copy-and-paste') from other authors.> So you've never copied and pasted ever? Cross your fingers and cross your toes? |
|
Jul-08-11
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <AJ> my first reaction to your post was "that's ridiculous" since you always clearly list the provenance of the lines you give. It's this historical background that gives your pages extra interest, at least for me. And it was ridiculous! lol-
That gentleman has just posted that he did not mean that. He doesn't think you are copy pasting and passing off other people's work as your own. He just said so on the game thread.
I hope you had a great 4th of July!
Best regards,
Jess |

 | | LIFE Master AJ: <Jess> I got a pretty tough e-mail just a few days ago. One person said that (pretty much) "all you do is steal from other people's work." I answered him as nicely as I could. BUT! The e-mail hurt a lot, I guess I thought he was the same guy who e-mailed me. |

 | | LIFE Master AJ: <Thanh Phan> Thanks. |
|
Jul-08-11 | | TheFocus: <Thanh Phan> You are welcome. I am trying to upload two games a day.
That is not a guarantee that they will go in that day, though. 2 uploaded on July 6 are not in yet, but they did make corrections in 2 games. I will upload 2 games today, but none over the weekend. I will post the game-scores of what I upload each day at my Forum, just for an early peek before they get uploaded. |

 | | Open Defence: well we have had our differences <LMAJ> but that kind of accusation is BS and doesnt merit any time and energy, yeah but it would hurt no one who makes such an accusation can actually objectively critique chess analysis in terms of variations and move improvements... |
|
Jul-08-11 | | TheFocus: <jess> New Fischer games will also be posted on the <Fischer> page. Four posted today. |
|
Jul-08-11
 | | LIFE Master AJ: hmm - taken uder advisement |
|
Jul-08-11
 | | jessicafischerqueen: Yes <AJ>-
<Open Defence> is right. No serious chess enthusiast would ever take such an accusation seriously. For example, <FSR> also publicly acknowledged the value of your work on these pages. So have many others at this website, and also those who email you. I bet the number of emails thanking you for your chess web pages are far, far greater than those criticizing you with such nonsense. Of course they are your work. |
