http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=md0n...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDMt...

And another one that I like, but probably doesn't belong in a chess documentary:

Aug-01-11  fab4: What's this ?! 'Lurk Moar' ? lol

'Lurk Boar' seems more appropriate ..

Anyway.. you seen De Niro in Cape Fear and Mitch in Cape Fear .. Which Cape Fear do you prefer ?!

Aug-01-11  fab4: I why don't you hit the cafe more ?
Aug-01-11  Travis Bickle: Jess, Paul McCartney played last night in Chicago at Wrigley Field! He plays there again tonight. ; P

jessicafischerqueen: <fab> I much preferred original CAPE FEAR, and thanks also for that other Mitchum film recommendation- I'm looking for a torrent. I did like how Scorcese gave Mitchum a kind of "legacy cameo" in his version though.

I'd hang out in the KIB BUTT HURT CAFE more often if there were less baseball scores.

No seriously I don't mind that, it's more the way people just post whatever's on their "mind" without even pretending to read even one or two previous posts.

So the thread reads like a particularly rude "conversation" between mental defectives.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

jessicafischerqueen: <Thanh and Gregor> Thank you so much!

I can't wait to investigate your selections, very generous of you to help.

<Gregor> I am eternally looking for music tracks suitable for chess documentaries and I encourage anyone to share their ideas here.

Aug-01-11  fab4: lol.. re the cafe.. I agree. It's staccato and out of sync...

Re Mitch in 'Cape Fear' .. well they deleted scenes...

Mitch and De Niro are different animals.

jessicafischerqueen: <Mitch and De Niro> are both great football clubs.

I don't think they can usefully be rated against each other though.

That would be like arguing over who's best- "Maradona or Messi."

That's a difficult comparison because Maradona did not have the advantage of powerful chess engines to help him prepare for matches.

  jessicafischerqueen: Hmmmm...

Maradona vs. Messi

http://www.googlefight.com/index.ph...

I don't think this result can be trusted, since the internets didn't exist when Maradona played.

I don't think they had TV or radio back then either.

Ha! Great resource! I just tried "Mariano Sana" vs. "Howard Sandler" (just to pick two random names), and I didn't like the result!

Aug-01-11  fab4: Ofcourse Maradona is the greater player .. Messi stiil has SO much to prove ....

Re Mitch and De Niro...

Well there is NO comparison. .. One was an actor almost untouchable in his profession... and one was'nt.

Aug-02-11  pulsar: <JFQ> It is the typhoon season here; the rains probably will continue until December. But we'll never know with the weather these days.
Aug-02-11  fab4: And I mean De Niro regarding untouchability as regards acting.. sorry. Could'nt resist clarifying that ! lol

Aug-02-11  Travis Bickle: Hey Jess here's a google fight for ya. ; P

http://www.googlefight.com/index.ph...

Aug-02-11  achieve: <Jess> Following several hours of fruitless labour the other day in trying to find the original <25-posts-per-page> thread, with Dom confirming, I managed to retrieve the location... The search kibbutz from chessgames didn't really work, and today I decided to <google> it; what a luminous idea!

And "it" found the location and date, miraculously is one way of describing it...

But it was March 19, 2007, your forum, at about page 73, and reading back a few pages from Ancient History I realized that this was also the time when you were involved with 4 or 5 games simultaneously, in your forum, playing other CG members, eg <Wilson>!

I think after that harrowing experience you must have stopped playing friends online... That was a mammoth effort, also since at the time you were running the administration of the moves and FENs from your profile!

Anyhoo- to think this was <only> 4 years ago is strange; I just now had the distinct feeling that it must have been longer ago. Six at least, intuitively. hmmm... But actually quite nice to read back some, although at times one cringes at the way I for example try to impress and stuff, really "overdoing" it by a long way, as I see it now...

OK!

Well, you can always re-post it... or stick it on the Kasparov board!

And you could do the Bobby v. Magnus and stick that on the Carlsen board.

Thing is, no player past present future will ever get more google hits than Bobby.

He's the only chess player who's *really* known by a great number of people who don't care about chess.

Anyways no joy lurking on Bobby's board these days. I'm going to wait a while longer before posting anything there.
