jnpope: It is also worth mentioning that the game, E Morphy vs A P Ford, 1840 , given in the the <Hazeltine Scrapbook, v32, Cincinnati Dispatch (1859), Game 32, p73 (pdf p81)> only gives "Mr." and not "Dr.", and that A. P. Ford was deceased by 1859. Also the New Orleans ...

jnpope: For those who care, I'm up to "Smith" in the indexing of names for the Pillsbury vols. (I may need to start drinking after this project)

jnpope: Still indexing (and verifying the spelling of names). Found ANOTHER Pillsbury game today and just integrated into the vol 1. I was hoping to be done with everything by October, but it may take me through November when I can devote copious amounts of time while I'm off from work for the Thanksgiving holiday. Current ChessBase count of games and partials is 1208 (I haven't counted the checker games in a while).

jnpope: For those keeping track, I'm up to "Tolchinsky" in my indexing efforts (The S's and early T's nearly killed me... Steinitz, Showalter, Schlechter, Schiffers, Tarrasch, etc.).

jnpope: Done with the indexing of names. Mow just a quick merging of the names in the two vols to filter out any anomalies and one final pass to verify all the [sic] references to make sure I didn't fat-finger something during data entry and I think I'm finished...

jnpope: The anomaly check is complete (only a handful of discrepancies that took a couple days to fix).

I'm down to the [sic] check for each vol, which hopefully will completed in short order...

jnpope: 1446 numbered games, partials and positions (chess, checkers, and one steeple-salta game combined).

Working on those [sic] entries...

jnpope: v2 still sitting at 17.

I did make a last minute trip to the JGW collection today and while there I found 3 new checker games and a partial.

I went there to get a less faded copy of Pillsbury's death certificate (but they couldn't locate their copy), and to donate my copy of La Strategie for 1902 (theirs was in horrible shape; literally falling apart into pieces the last time I had seen it). It was the only vol of that periodical I owned so it wasn't like I was breaking up a set.

jnpope: v1 and v2 checks are complete.

v1 is going through a final spit-and-polish for formatting (making sure pages break in the proper spots, etc.) before I publish and send out electronic copies to a select group for review.

v2 is going through one last proofread to catch grammatical errors (like dropped letters: pawn=paw, one=on, etc., basically things software will often miss). Once that is complete then v2 gets the ol' spit-and-polish and it will follow v1 to the reviewers.

jnpope: v1 orphan/kerning is complete... last re-index and then generating a table of contents and it should be ready for the reviewers.

Starting that last "stray grammar" check of v2 next... hopefully (knock on wood) I will be done with Pillsbury for another 20 years after this!
