Open Defence: <Fearless Leader> may I suggest a forum for mate lines, i.e. variations worked out to mate,

the tested and unbusted lines can be added to the forum header while busted lines and improvements can be debated / analysed in the forum area ?

I guess that would be a good idea. Do you have anyone in mind to host it?

Open Defence: sorry, forgot to check back in here, well if no one else is available I can do it, but I will have to move the Dutch Defence library, (maybe create a dummy user Dutch Defence)

Do you think we still need the Dutch library at this point in the game?

Open Defence: no we dont, just that some friends asked me to keep it so I can move it to a dummy user

Go ahead if you want to. Let the team know what you are doing.

Jun-14-08  zanshin: <kutz> I think we have the forum situation well in hand for the moment. In the meantime, if you have anything you'd like to add to our discussion at Once chessforum, we'd appreciate it.

Jun-17-08  zanshin: <kutz> I guess the Team is on autopilot now just waiting for the long line starting with <52...Rf3+> and hopefully culminating with a resignation. There is almost no analysis going on and the discussion has wandered to such topics as engine use (I'm as guilty as anyone here ;-))

Somehow I feel we should be using this time to do some sort of analysis, but I can't think of anything worthwhile. Can you?

  kutztown46: <zanshin>

Over the weekend I developed forum plans for 52...c3 and e2+. I didn't even bother you about it after I talked about taking a break.

Then I looked at possible alternatives to 53...Rxf6 and concluded there weren't any. There were two other moves less than (2.00) worse that Rxf6. One of them was Rf5. In both cases, black's obvious next move is Rxf6. If he's going to capture the pawn on f6, he will do it in one move, not two.

Next I turned my attention to something that I do think is worthwhile. I was going to wait until GMT moved and then post a message for you. If you look at your 21-ply after 54. Kxe3, you will see that 54...Rc6 is the clear winner. However, the runnerup move was only about half a pawn worse and all the remaining moves on the list are less than two pawns worse than 54...Rc6. So I have started to develop forum plans for GMT's alternate 54th moves, starting with 54...Nf2 and working down the list. Your help would be appreciated. Why don't you start with an overnight run after 54. Kxe3 so we have a better idea of his choices.

Jun-17-08  zanshin: <kutz> That sounds good. I have started overnight analysis on the position after <52…Rf3+ 53.Ke2 Rxf6 54.Kxe3>.

I think whoever is in charge of the post-game team-congratulating profile should use this as a starting reference.

Jun-24-08  Red October: I recently invested in a Q6600 quad core so I can be of more use with computer analysis now :)

Excellent. Which engine will you be using?

Jun-25-08  Red October: I have the following :)

Deep HIARCS 12
Zappa Mexico II
Toga 1.4.1 SE (Special Beta Testers Version)
Rybka 2.3.2.a MP

hope to avail of the new Fruit engine that is currently only a beta testers version

I hope to make HIARCS 12 my main engine for analysis and have been chatting up on forums getting good tips on how to use engines for analysis (and of course we have a good many experts here at cg.com too)

the system is a Q6600 quad core with 4GB (800 MHz) RAM and 5 Men EGTB, no overclocking yet

I think it is good for the team to use as many different engines as possible.

Jun-25-08  Waitaka: <kutztown46> If you are still interested, I did put some analysis of <54...Kc5 55.Rb8> and <54...Kc5 55.Rc8+> by DeepShredder 11 at my forum.
