Some years ago I came up with a new but simple system to calculate the final standings of a tournament including all players. This is how it goes:

For each correct standing you'll get a maximum amount of points. Each prediction deviation from the actual player standing in the tournament, will deduct one point from your total (ABSOLUTE RANKER).

In case of a shared player's standing the average standing counts (both actual and in your predictions).

The SQUARE RANKER, squares your predictions' deviations. Here only medals are awarded if the winner s is not the same person s as in the absolute ranker.

Same goes for the The PAIR BETTING RANKER compare all possible pair outcomes of the tournament participants.

The three best predictions will get Real Virtual Gold Silver and Bronze!

Note: only one set of medals is awarded (in the absolute ranker) unless another ranker produces a different winner.

Special thanks to <YouRang> who made a software to calculate these numbers.

Our new contest manager for game results prediction User: Golden Executive during the tournament also ([1-0], [1/2], [0-1])!

or predict the # of moves in User: ohiochessfan organized by <chessmoron>

Enjoy!

OhioChessFan: It's been a long time comin', I got to tell you. Ah been used to gettin' whatever it is ah want in life, but some things just got to be earned. A spot in the Hall of Fame has got to be the highlight of my career.

Ah'd have traded all my gold records and awards and stuff just for a plaque on the wall, but Yoda wouldn't let me. Told me ah had to earn it. Ah gotta tell you, it was worth it. Ah feel like ah can go take on the world and a few gazillion of them Seperadits.....errr......Setaparists....them one fellas. I hope my man Yoda here can give me some a that light saber trainin'. That'd be really cool next time I go to karate class. Whit, whit, whit, haha, ahaha, whit, whit, whit. Haha, huh huh, watch me cut up this jelly doughnut, whit, whit, haha. Wonder if it could get through these sideburns. Probly not. Whit, whit, whit.........whoa, this suit's a bit tight to be running around like this, haha, huh huh, ahaha. Ummmmmm, where was I? Oh yeah, ah am so honored today and to be in this Hall of Fame is the greatest thing to ever happen to a little ole boy from Tupelo Mizzippi. Thank you, thank you very much.

I for sure knew that was on the table and wanted to get in that club. I don't remember even medaling in this contest before, where I've been really bad.

Here's my rough/unofficial count: Silver (Mtel09), Bronze (Cor10), Silver (WCC13), Bronze (Tal13), Silver (Sinq14), Bronze (Tat15)

It wasn't really too big of a deal, since I already recorded all the page numbers for all 3 contests, and just needed to look back.

However, I ask that you look it over a couple of times yourself to see if I made any errors (missed a tournament, incorrectly counted a medal, etc.). Oh, and if any links don't work, just clear your ignore list. :)
