"Play the board AND the man ! ".
But mostly the board.
Was born in Elsinore,Denmark,1953.And I am still proud of it.As I hope everyone is proud of hers/his startingpoint.

In many aspects life and chess do mirror each other IM experience. As science and belief goes hand in hand.So many "rules of thumbs" and many "exceptions" from the rule. I do agree with Bent Larsen who once said that someone who cannot contain a paradoxe is not using the full capacity of his brain.Actually I am convinced that there are no parodoxes, but perspectives which are more bright or flexible than others...

Though some obviously are borned under more easygoing circumstances than others,I will second our esteemed fellowkibitzer <zarg> who underlines that "luck" is also somehing that we create ourselves. Ourselves, but also together IM experience.
I try to live my life as if Jesus or Buddha knocked on the door , I would wellcome them as friends . And if they didn´t show up, it would be fine anyway.

  moronovich: Morning <virginmind> !

Great to hear about your fine health and to boot your improvement in chess. A lot of kudos to you ! It is such a nice feeling, n´est pas !?

Here I think i have catched an old fashioned cold, which happens very rare... So patience ans staminna is reguired ;) And in these times the football is a good consolation !.... Right now it seems all the big teams are cruising through to the quarters, but you never now what will happen in the next game..

All the best and many hugs.

Dec-06-22  virginmind: Well, <optimal play> hoped for more upsets. So there you go.
Dec-07-22  optimal play: <virginmind> Yes, although the upset I was hoping for was Australia v Argentina, but Morocco beating Spain was almost as big, albeit in a penalty shootout.

The Spanish shooters seemed to lack confidence. After the first one hit the post, the rest were rather timid kicks.

Anyway, good luck to Morocco, but I can't see them getting past Portugal.

Dec-07-22  virginmind: I didn't see them getting past Spain either...but the latter had a really weak performance, at lest during the first 90 min. (and their penalty kicks were a confirmation for that).

<moronovich> Take care of that cold. Thank you, it was a nice feeling - in the mean time, I managed to lose two games :)

moronovich: Good evening <virginmind> And good morning to you <optimal play> !

Thanks for the wishes <virginmind> and happily my cold has vanished. A great relief.....Kasparov has also sometimes lost two games, so you are in good company ;)

Looking forward to the quarterfinals and it has been nice without any drama for a couple of days !

Hugs

Dec-20-22  optimal play: <moronovich> Merry Christmas Moro!

And have a happy new year.

  moronovich: Thank you <optimal play> !

And may you, down under, have a Merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year to come.

Dec-20-22  virginmind: Hi my dear, and Merry Christmas to you!
So in the end it was Argentina who took the trophy, well, they played good and Messi was, of course, fabulous. The French gave the impression they found out they indeed need to attack in order to score by the end of the second half. And finally the lottery had it say...It was a nice championship, all along. Maroc was a great surprise, maybe the organisers should have given them a special mention or something.

Chess and some movies (this time a few of Zinnemann's) in the past days, and looking forward to yet another year ending. Let's hope the next one will bring peace and better feelings.

Hugs to you and Hannah.

moronovich: Thank you som much, my dear <virginmind> !

Also Christmas Greetings to you and all the best wishes for the New Year, which hope fully will be more peacefull. To good health too, to both of us.

A very deserved win to the argentines who finally brought home the trophy after all these years. And yes this certain Messi is a heck of a player who finally made it before retiring. Kudos to him and the whole team !

A good championship on the pitch, is finally over.

Many many hugs to you and to Maria as well.

Fusilli: Hi <moro>, your blurb says you were born in Denmark. It doesn't say if you live in Denmark. Do you?

My wife studies a little Danish every evening before bedtime. She hopes to visit one day (and I hope to come along!) She is very interested in Ibsen's plays. (As you know, but as a note to anyone looking: Ibsen was Norwegian, but he wrote in Danish.)

  moronovich: Hej <fussilli> !

Thanks for visiting og Glædelig Jul samt et godt Nyt År til dig og din kone !

Yes, i am danish and lives north of Aarhus, our second biggest city. At the countryside in a great house with my lovely wife, whom I have known for almost 30 years....Quite interesting your wife is studying danish ! A language many find difficult to speak.

So say hello to her from me and may you a great Christmas Time, as well as I can imagine you still are celebrating the long awaited victory !

Cheers !

Fusilli: We watched eight seasons of <Badehotellet> (Seaside Hotel in English) on Netflix. We are waiting for the release of season 9 here. Do you watch that show? We love it!

I hear you about Danish being difficult to speak. I can hear that some things are so difficult to pronounce, including Copenhagen!

You have a wonderful Christmas yourselves!

All the characters are so loveable. Also Weyse ;),in his own way.And we have all the seasons on DVD, just waiting for another view.

May you have a great day in Argentina, which ironicalle comes from silver, but that is definately not the case in these days ;)

Fusilli: <May you have a great day in Argentina>

Oh, I'm not in Argentina. I live in the United States (Nashville, Tennessee). I go to Argentina every two or three years.

I am Argentinian but also an American citizen and I love my adoptive country too. At this point, I have spent half of my life in each.

This weekend is going to be brutally cold around here. Well, what *I* call brutally cold (single digits Farenheit). Maybe you have different standards!

There may be some snow too. Because Nashville does not regularly have snow in winter, the city does not have the equipment to clear the roads. That means we can get snowed in. This morning we'll do a grocery run to make sure we have everything we need.

Stay warm!

  moronovich: Hi <fussilli>

Sorry, I forgot you lived in Tennesse. Hit by the footballfever, I guess ;)

And a smart move that you do a grocery run, before it may be too late. So best of luck with that.

Five minuttes ago, we have just got our nice christmas tree inside the house, waiting to be decorated tomorrow, were my wifes holiday starts. 9 days with cosyness and the like ahead....We are on some ponis very spoiled her in Denmark, compared to many other countries. Even the weather is not very cold, 7 plus celsius.

Best of more christmas wishes and may the weather be with you !

Looking forward to further exchanges with you in the new year!

Cheers, moro.

Feb-04-23  virginmind: Hello my dear, and I hope you're well. I'm fine, but two weeks ago I was in neurology emergency unit for some 6 hours due to some strange stuff going on in my head. They changed the medication, and now I'm not supposed to touch on Panadol anymore. The future looks bright though. Not much of a winter we had here, but this last month may have something to say about it. Hugs and, of course, peace. The right one.

moronovich: Thanks a lot mu dear <virginmind> !

Allways good to hear from you. And I am so glad and relived to hear that your future looks bright enough. So no more Panadol and good they apparently found the right diagnosis ! So I send you all my best thoughts and wishes for further improvement with your health !

I still have my "dizzyness", colon issues and a small bladder to cope with, but somehow I manage and even so good, that today I am turning into a 70 year old man ! ;) Quite a high number, I may say.

Hannah has found some excellent takeaway, some tapas and that is the celebration, besides from friends, who gonna be there on mail and phone.

Life is still good and I guess the spring will arrive early this year, though it is cold outside for the moment. Which fits very well with the day (or rather, night, 23.55) these 70 years ago were a big snowstorm was outside. And I actually love it when it snows ;)

That was it and may you enjoy your sunday in Iasi and with many hugs to you and your Maria !

See you up or down the road !
