"Play the board AND the man ! ".
But mostly the board.
Was born in Elsinore,Denmark,1953.And I am still proud of it.As I hope everyone is proud of hers/his startingpoint.

In many aspects life and chess do mirror each other IM experience. As science and belief goes hand in hand.So many "rules of thumbs" and many "exceptions" from the rule. I do agree with Bent Larsen who once said that someone who cannot contain a paradoxe is not using the full capacity of his brain.Actually I am convinced that there are no parodoxes, but perspectives which are more bright or flexible than others...

Though some obviously are borned under more easygoing circumstances than others,I will second our esteemed fellowkibitzer <zarg> who underlines that "luck" is also somehing that we create ourselves. Ourselves, but also together IM experience.
I try to live my life as if Jesus or Buddha knocked on the door , I would wellcome them as friends . And if they didn´t show up, it would be fine anyway.

  moronovich: Goodevening dear <virginmind> !

Just a nice little day, so far. Soon we are having diner, italian time, 20.00 ;). Afterwards it is Champion Leaque time and we are planning to enjoy it.

Oh,yes we may meet at the Olympics. That would be fun. Guess I am old enough to cheer for both the teams !

So when are you off to Istanbull ? This weekend ?

All the best to you and to your wife !

See you up the road.

Sep-18-24  virginmind: Good morning, in a few days, yes. Actually we have drawn 2-2 the USA in Sept. 1972 Chess Olympiad too, in Skopje. Fischer was not in their team, as he just had won the world crown, and neither was Spasski in USSR's (because he lost it, I guess...joking, probably tireness).

Hugs.

Sep-18-24  virginmind: And today we beat Poland 3-1, with Deac having the better of Duda...

  moronovich: Bravo !

And good luck versus China today, as we shall up against the spanes.

All the best to you in Iasi, on this sunny day, which shows the autum from its best side.

Hugs

Sep-20-24  virginmind: Well that was close, just like in your case, but at least Buhl managed to defeat David. Of course, Wei Yi is very strong, so Deac's result was not mean feat too.
Sep-20-24  virginmind: Fedoseev beats Carlsen, while we beat Austria 2.5-1.5

Looks like sunny time in Istanbul for the 5 days we will be there.

moronovich: So today both of our teams did win !

Life is good and I wish you a fine weekend too. And good news about the weather in Istanbull. Your favourite, n´est pas !?

All the best from Dk to Romanie !

Sep-21-24  virginmind: Bravo too, and good luck today against Chile! As about Moldova, they play Norway in the 10th round, and Carlsen will have to face Schitco. Good luck with that!

Thank you, indeed my favourite type of weather. Hugs.

Sep-30-24  virginmind: Hi my dear, returned last night from Istanbul, overall cool experience, the Turcs we've met are very nice people. Visited quite a few landmarks, including Topkapi palace, the Blue Mosk and Hagia Sophia. Weather was fantastic, again. On the flight back some nasty turbulences as we were ascending through a storm. At home, some 20 degrees lower and rain. But it's the end of Sept after all. I hope you and Hannah are fine. Hugs.

moronovich: Wellcome back my dear <virginmind> !

I am so happy you enjoyed the trip. The weather inclusive. So now safely back to Iasi.

Here autum has really set in.12-13 degrees in the day time and 7-8 during the night. Which is very good for my sleep and hence the daily life. So I dont complain ;)

I have seen there is a new medication invented for/against MS, which should take some of the burden. But It is not on the market as for now. Something you have heard about ?

All the best and see you up the road.

Hugs

Oct-01-24  virginmind: Hi <moronovich> and thank you. I know there are quite a few new medications for MS in the past years, but fortunately, I have a very mild form (for now). The relapses, when they appear, consist of dizziness, with no pain, and they go away in one or two days. Otherwise, I have a normal life, so I don't see a reason to go into a therapy specific for MS. I only need to avoid stress, as much as I can, and hopefully I will.

Not much chess of late, if at all, but I believe this will change :) It very much looks like november here too. Best of luck.

moronovich: Good afternoon, my dear <virginmind> !

Very pleased to hear that you get so fine along with life, despite your MS !. Chapeau !

Here autum is taking it tolls and tomorrow Hannah and I shall have a shot at noon (sounds like a westermovie, doesn´t it ? ;). A flu and covid shot. Good to be well prepared, when the winter sets in.

Allt he best wishes for the weekend to both of you from me and from Hannah too, who is sitting in her couch, enjoying the start of the weekend.

Hugs.

Oct-19-24  virginmind: Hi, my dear <moronovich>! It's been cold but blue skies. It rained for quite some time. Autumn sets in, clearly.

I lose, mostly, in chess, sometimes I win - there was a very cool one the other day, but I dont show it to you here, as obviously my opponent was not so good. Still, he was winning confortably, only that I turned the tables with a massive pawn attack - while performing it I was wondering if it will work - well, it did, to my and probably his astonishment :)

Other than that, Maria is about to leave for Ermont, in France, to visit her sister.

Thank you and Hannah for the kind wishes, and I hope you too will have a fine weekend.

Cheers!

Nov-05-24  virginmind: Hi my dear, how are you? I do hope you are fine. Just give me a sign.

moronovich: Thank you my friend !

Just at a match in Ch Leaque ;)

I am relatively fine after somebody issues. Hannah is having two days off from work, so a kind of early weekend ! ;)

And you ? How are you doing ? On this very day were all eyes are set on the election in USA.

Hugs and see you again up the road.

Nov-06-24  virginmind: I'm glad that you are well, me too I'm fine. I hear that Harris, sorry, trump has won the elections over the ocean. Very cold this morning here, but bright. Some chess and I again started to win. Looking forward for a great middle of the week. Hugs for you both.

moronovich: Good afternoon, my dear friend <virginmind>!

Yes, unfortunately it was Trump ):

Gald to hear you are fine and hopefully you have enjoyed the week. Also happy to hear your chess is better. A game that can bring so much joy (and the opposite;).

We have just retourned from our local mall with plenty of good stuff and I shall now watch a tournament in DK. A fine break from all the supergrandmasters, who play almost the same openings again and again ):..Later our local team in football AGF (comes from Århus, our second largest city in DK, same size as Iasi !) shall play an important match.

All is better and I send you all my best wishes for the rest of the weekend and for the new week.

Hugs for you both, too.

moronovich: Good morning, my dear <virginmind> !

Officially it is still autum, but the first snow has just arrived. Wife has left in her car on icy roads, but the main roads are fortunately well kept and safe.

Soon the big match will appear, Ding vs Gukesh.
And I sincerely hope that Ding has found his self confidence and will be able to put up qualified resistance and dont feel the title as a burden. We shall see... The bookies have Gukesh as an overwhelming favourite and only giving Ding a 20% chance. I think his chances are higher than that. Somewhere around 30.

Things are ok/fine for the moment and we are looking forward to say hello to my sister who lives in USA and will arrive for a two days stay, the 8th of December.

Hope you are enjoying life as much as possible and I send you all my best wishes !

Hugs and Hoka Hey.

Nov-21-24  virginmind: Hi my dear <moronovich>, I am fine and glad that you're the same. Looking forward to the great match too, only that for some time I'll still have to work on two papers for my job. Winter has arrived here tonight too, but only for a few hours - I'll have to go out and finish replacing the battery on my car (no big deal, but stumbled on some obvious things, as never did it before). Please say hello to your sister from my part.

Hoka Hey and best of luck, see you around.

Nov-23-24  virginmind: Back. Presented yesterday one of the papers, and now I have a couple of free days before starting work on the second, so I'd like to make, if not a prediction, then a preference: I hope Gukesh will win. That is, the whole match, not just tomorrow's game. A pleasant weekend for you both, and of course hugs.

  moronovich: Good evening ! dear <virginmind> !

Sounds like an weekendpresent, that you "luckily" has finished your paper !?

Here I have succesfully done some cleaning in the house before the arrival of my sister.

Gukesh seems to me, like a very likeable fellow and I would be fine with him winning it all, but before that, my biggest wish is an even match, were we could se a rejuvenated Ding.

Till then : Also a pleasant weekend to both of you, with a lot of hugs !

Written just two minuttes before Hannah is serving the chicken with rice. Yummy !

Nov-26-24  virginmind: Bonjour mon cher, and what a start we had. Just as they said, exactly what Ding Liren needed. Bravo to him, as he set the course for some tense encounters. And indeed he appeared determined to strike hard with black and go for the kill - I can only imagine the disconcerted Gukesh...What a match opening blow!

  moronovich: Morning, my dear !

Oh, yes what a start to the match. We couldn´t have asked for a better one. A wonderfull game from Ding and now it gonna be very interesting, to see if Gukesh is able to come back. He must have felt disheartened, but OTOH he looked relatively OK at the pressconference. But he is young and inexperienced, so anything van happen, even at todays game, which starts in 15 minuttes, which I am really looking forward to. So, let us enjoy and I send all my best thoughts and wishes to you in Iasi !

See you down or up the road.

Nov-26-24  Teyss: God aften, <moronovich>! (An answer to Ding Liren vs D Gukesh, 2024 (kibitz #60) ;)

Nice to see you on the threads again, at least the WC. Hope everything is doing fine for you. Nothing special on my side.

Take care.
