"Play the board AND the man ! ".
But mostly the board.
Was born in Elsinore,Denmark,1953.And I am still proud of it.As I hope everyone is proud of hers/his startingpoint.

In many aspects life and chess do mirror each other IM experience. As science and belief goes hand in hand.So many "rules of thumbs" and many "exceptions" from the rule. I do agree with Bent Larsen who once said that someone who cannot contain a paradoxe is not using the full capacity of his brain.Actually I am convinced that there are no parodoxes, but perspectives which are more bright or flexible than others...

Though some obviously are borned under more easygoing circumstances than others,I will second our esteemed fellowkibitzer <zarg> who underlines that "luck" is also somehing that we create ourselves. Ourselves, but also together IM experience.
I try to live my life as if Jesus or Buddha knocked on the door , I would wellcome them as friends . And if they didn´t show up, it would be fine anyway.

  moronovich: Mission acomplised ;)

And I will respond, but it may perhaps take a couple of days.

Aug-21-12  brankat: <moronovich> Thank You for dropping by. I'm glad to hear of a good recovery progress!

Both, my girl and I doing just fine. Spending a lot of time on the beach, and going for our regular morning and evening walks, The weather in Vancouver has been beautiful for some 5-6 weeks now, I think there was just one day with a bit of rain. All the rest, sunny and warm, 24-28 Celsius. The beach where we go is only 3 blocks from her we live, five minutes walk. It is almost in the heart of downtown (east-side), and yet once there, one can hardly hear a sound! As if it was in a remote area way out of the city.

As for the betting, the longshots, yes. That's the most exciting part of the betting action :-) And, of course, under the circumstances, it is more or less necessary. Good luck! It's not over till it's over. Just like in a chess game :-)

For example: In one of my games at Gameknot.com (somewhere around move 45 now) for the last ten moves, or so, I have been sure the endgame was "won". Only today I realized it's almost certainly a Draw. Unless my opponent commits a blunder :-)

Aug-24-12  achieve: <Moro> Good morning to you!

Finally the email has been sent; I attached it to your original so it probably will be listed 3rd, as my 2nd reply.

Talk to you soon again here, oh, and I dicovered some inspiring youtube films about Karpov, interviews where he talks of Fischer, the 72-75 and beyond period, analyses games, etc., you may be interested....

I'll post the links later.

  moronovich: Good afternoon <achieve> !

E-mail has been sent 14.55

Aug-24-12  achieve: And received in good health! Good evening! I'll get back to you over the weekend, old chappie. :)
Sep-10-12  achieve: Morning, <moro>!

It's been awhile, eh? Father Time doesn't seem to slow down these days... I was wondering how your hip is now, and if it's turning out, or has turned out, to be the improvement that you hoped for, expected.

since a week or so, Lars appears to have trouble running up the stairs like he used to: 2 steps per jump

But he is 9 1/2 years old now, and he seems to have trouble getting smoothly over the hurdles. In fact that was the reason I thought of you, and seeing you posted in the Café I thought let's see how you are doing.

  moronovich: Morning <achieve> !

How good to see you again. It feels like a long time ago.

I am doing fine beside some occasional
stomach issues, but the hip might be doing fine, but there is some limping left, which I am not shure belongs to the right picture.Time and doctor will tell...

Sorry to hear about Lars´condition.Sounds like an agecondition, but nevertheless when he is such a dear friend to you...

Seems like we are all potentially leaves on an autumtree, waiting for another journey..

And how are you doing these days !?

Send you all my best wishes as well as the traditionally one : See you up the road , old chap ;)

Sep-10-12  achieve: Thanks for sharing the update and the concern, moro, and indeed it seems an age thing, although I hope that I am wrong, time indeed will tell, I think a reversal may be possible, as Lars could lose some weight, and some form of rheuma related issues can come and go, so we'll try and work that out.

I hope you will proceed to full mobility, indeed patience is a virtue, and I am going to have a nice 45 minute walk with Lars, it's nice and windy, yesterday was tropical here....

We'll keep in touch and more to come later this week, or, up the road ;)

Cheers, moro.

Sep-11-12  virginmind: hello <moronovich> just thought of dropping by and wishing you a speedy recovery.

  moronovich: Hi´<whiteshark> !
Tried to answer in your forum, but it seemed to be closed for now.

And no, I am not playing Copenhagen.I am not very competitive these years so I prefer to coach and watch the big guns battle it out.Kind of privellege that goes with (my) age ;)

See you around and enjoy the weekend &
supposedly the Naka-Giri clash !

Nov-18-12  brankat: Hi Moro!

I'm glad to hear You are feeling so good after the surgery!

Also, it was great to have a nice, live conversation yesterday.

Nov-19-12  brankat: How true is this? :-)

"If when you play chess with a fellow Human, you find you have no anxiety, no chest pains, no sweaty brow, no uncontrollable shaking hands, give up...you’re not enjoying it!"

Nov-20-12  brankat: Good luck with P-4!

moronovich: Good morning og good night(?;) to you
<brankat> !

Yes it was plesant the other day and I am shure we will find another occasion. And thank you for your wellwishes. It means something to me.

The picture about the nervous chessplayer doesn´t suit me,but some others that I have known(and some I still do know). I am actually the other way round:the more calm and warm, the better I play. I recall a couple of gyus who succeeded a kind of hatefeeling towards the ooponent before the game. But these guys precisely did´t made it to the top (DK level).

Good luck to you as well in the pick-4!And see you around.
