 | | moronovich: Seems Levon is going down,so,if it hold, it all will end up in a great day for Magnus. It has been very pleasant to talk with you,but the kitchen is calling,so may not more for today. Take care and also about the cold, right !? |
|
| Mar-25-13 | | achieve: Maximum again for Magnus from a bad opening. Great day, again! ;) <cold> It's okay, but I am taking a paracetamol almost every hour! Enjoy your dinner, I just finished mine. :) |
|
| Mar-28-13 | | achieve: Morning <moro> - what a demonstration yesterday, eh? Bit of a masterclass by the young GM versus Boris the Brilliant; well - his reaction to the guy who insisted on a 20...Qf8 computermove, where Gelfand had played the natural active Qb6, was brilliant, as he resisted to get his perspective on the position distorted, and worded his frustration at some point with such determination, that people including Carlsen showed a content smile! Brilliant post game pressconf, and Magnus could well take example from Boris' attitude, because if Gelfand had acted similarly as MC after the Radja game, the whole thing would have fallen in the water, instead of the treat that was served up yesterday. I do agree that Carlsen acts sort of "spoiled" when things do not go his way, and he should mature in that regard in the coming months, years. My opinion, and it reminds me somewhat of John McEnroe, back in the early 80s. But very few openly critisize the young man, highest rated ever by a margin. Hierarchy, entitlement, youth, youthful confidence/arrogance, hahaha, well, that's why you're young, and can get away with it... ;) |

 | | moronovich: Morning to you too <achieve> ! I always read your posts with great appetite. And it feels good that you put a lot of nerve and reflection into
the processes.
Right now I am struggling with a (minor) headache and off to lunch with
one of our good friends. But back in time ;) and perhaps see you there/hopefully !? In the meantime : Take care and enjoy !

| Mar-28-13 | | achieve: Yes, moro, I think I will be there from the start today - and with the standings as they are, both Kramnik and Aronian will press (today only Kramnik has White) - they must! - in almost every game, and in order to stay on the safe side Magnus is intent on staying "ahead", meaning that the games will have fur flying, since the 5 others =/< 4.5 points can't win anymore, and are free to go at it, if they feel like it. I'm guessing - predicting - 6 to 8 decisive games in the remaining 4 rounds. Gutsy, huh? ;) |
|
Mar-28-13
 | | moronovich: Hi <achieve> !
Good afternoon ! Just returned from a good gathering with a friend of ours. A lot is going one,as everyday in this fantastic
tournament.
Kramnik is better as well on the clock.
1-0 may come around the 40 th.
Grischuks clock will save Magnus
Svidler is playing for two results...
So Kramnik is till in the running,
just my 2 dollars 17.32 danish meantime ;) |
|
Mar-28-13
 | | moronovich: Nigel and Lawrence are as good for chess as the sicilian and kid combined ;) Gonna miss them,on tuesday.
Though daily chessfree zones shall not be underrated. See you !? |
|
| Mar-28-13 | | achieve: I'm devotedly listening, I'm here, but on the board things have gotten violent, no free zones, just win your points or else you have wasted your chance. Kramnik has a chance if he can close the gap now by winning this game. Carlsen still in charge, but it is close. |
|
Mar-28-13
 | | moronovich: Hello !
Very intense right now.
Svidler will convert and if Kramink does the same he will be the hot pursuier ! Back to Grischuk and Lawrence |
|
Mar-28-13
 | | moronovich: The 2 biggest and fastest talkers (besides Svidler) at the pressconference ;) Kramnik is back ! |
|
| Mar-28-13 | | achieve: He sure is! - what a finish we are looking at!
It's literally all in the bag, after Kramnik winning his third. |
|
| Mar-30-13 | | achieve: Don't for get the date; March 29th, 2013 - the round that may have cost Magnus Carlsen his first shot at the Chess Crown. In all honesty I would not be surprised if he wins both remaining rounds and still steals it, or will lose another game trying. Only 1st place counts, and honour, of course. There's always Ivanchuk............. |
|
| Mar-30-13 | | achieve: Meter (metrum) dictates:
Draw draw <win> draw <loss> draw <win> Magnus was magnanimous in defeat, I must say, in that he took it like a man, and wasn't shy about it either, as we heard from his first sentence in the press conference: "I mean first of all I think I played, you know, absolutely disgracefully from, you know...... move one." And he went on to point out a number of positions to illustrate what had happened. He'll be back, rest-day, and then all guns blazing. What a tournament! |
|
| Mar-31-13 | | brankat: Happy Easter! |
|
Mar-31-13
 | | moronovich: Hi <brankat> !
Happy easter too you as well. Very glad to see you are back ! And how are you doing ? ;long time not been here..you have been missed. And are you following the candidates!? Perhaps you Will turn up here when it starts. As you may have noted, that is the time for <achieve> and me,usually,
were all our streams of thoughts and
thelike will appear.
Anyway,see you soon (?). |
|
Mar-31-13
 | | moronovich: And good mornign <achieve> ! Have you remembered to turn the clock ?
So now it is the penultimate hour.
With Magnus having his back against the wall. And can he crack Radja´s solid wall..
Kramnik is likely to put controlled pressure on his good friend Gelfand and then lurk around the other board. Worst casescenario is IMNSHO, that it all will be settled tomorrow with one of those awfull tiebreaks. That would not be good for chess. The heat is mounting and perhaps you will enjoy it here this afternoon!? Take care and happy easter to you too ! |
|
| Mar-31-13 | | achieve: <Moro> yes - less than 60 minutes to go!! Problem is that my connection to the cg site is incredibly slow, and getting from one page to the next takes more than 30 secs for a to me unknown reason... So I am not sure if I'll post on the fly commentary the way it is now. I agree that that 2nd tiebreak rule is rather insane, and - as Short said - in an important tournament like this you need to break the tie by a short rapid play-off match. But I'll drop by a few times, and who knows maybe I can get a normal connection back, later. And happy easter to you and the wife, as well. |
|
Mar-31-13
 | | moronovich: <And happy easter to you and the wife, as well.> Thank you,and I´ll let her know. Same problem here(has never occured before AFAIK)
Let us see what happens, but anyway i; hope you will enjoy the thrill today
even typing is not working proberly...
So enjoy and see you later. |

Mar-31-13
 | | moronovich: RE Carlsens choice of opening . "Just give your opponent the pair of bishops and he feel obliged to play for a win"..or something like that.
Clever choice in a "perhaps mustwin situation". |
|
| Mar-31-13 | | achieve: Looks like Carlsen has come out of the opening with considerable problems, and Radjabov is of course free from <any> obligation, except those placed upon him by himself; Carlsen needs to make this one by himself, on his own merits. Kramnik is working the clock and I expect that he will get chances to press severely, and perhaps win. These are the facts; and they are undisputable. ;p |
|
Mar-31-13
 | | moronovich: <Kramnik is working the clock> and the opponent as well ;)My cautious estimate is that Gelfand will hold. But the way Kramnik played this opening is impressive.
In the meantime Carlsen seems to have
a playable pos, with possibilites to press if Radja(shorter oon time, too)
goes wrong.
The heat is still on,as a matter of fact ;p |
|
Mar-31-13
 | | moronovich: 17.12
Gelfand is contributing to the party with 16-h5 !?.
A baby is crying in the background.
A dog is barking too.
At the stage in London. |
|
| Mar-31-13 | | achieve: It is! Carlsen bouncing back admirably, after perhaps one or two loose moves by Radja, and basically all results are possible, these guys are so evenly matched, yet Chess is a very complex and deep game, and he who finds the resources at the right time will be the happier -- I think what these guys distinguishes from the tier 2 3 4 guys is how they utilize the chances they get thrown at them. Lessers squander the possibilities, betters use them to their advantage, and can be merciless in execution if needed. I do sense possibilities here for Carlsen, slight ones. |
|
Mar-31-13
 | | moronovich: < Lessers squander the possibilities, betters use them to their advantage, and can be merciless in execution if needed.> Indeed like in tennis e.g.
Some games are dead equal, but who win the important points?...the nadals, the
djokovichs,federers..
hey,but this is your turf - as a fact ! |
|
Mar-31-13
 | | moronovich: Kramnik sacking on c6 2:1
------not------ on c6 1.45:1
;) |
