"Play the board AND the man ! ".
But mostly the board.
Was born in Elsinore,Denmark,1953.And I am still proud of it.As I hope everyone is proud of hers/his startingpoint.

In many aspects life and chess do mirror each other IM experience. As science and belief goes hand in hand.So many "rules of thumbs" and many "exceptions" from the rule. I do agree with Bent Larsen who once said that someone who cannot contain a paradoxe is not using the full capacity of his brain.Actually I am convinced that there are no parodoxes, but perspectives which are more bright or flexible than others...

Though some obviously are borned under more easygoing circumstances than others,I will second our esteemed fellowkibitzer <zarg> who underlines that "luck" is also somehing that we create ourselves. Ourselves, but also together IM experience.
I try to live my life as if Jesus or Buddha knocked on the door , I would wellcome them as friends . And if they didn´t show up, it would be fine anyway.

Aug-07-13  Bureaucrat: Hallo folkens!

Time flies,Christmas is lurking...

Shut up moro!

Fortsatt god sommer.

Aug-09-13  MarkFinan: I've got enough on with the English language, i know you're speaking German but its as far as il ever come to learning another language lol.. So you've been on some kind of an extended holiday, Rogge?
Aug-09-13  rogge: Hehe, hi <Mark>! my German is even worse than my English, so we speak Scandinavian whenever I'm present ;)

We're on a four-week holiday this summer, and spend a fortnight in lovely Denmark. Back to Norway on Sunday, and then we'll have to wait until October for a week in Crete.

How's your summer been? Hopefully you've had some sunny days in England.

Aug-09-13  rogge: "en god optimisme og et godt netværk" Det ordner seg!

Tak <rogge>! And safe return to good old Bergen.

Tromsø next.

Aug-09-13  rogge: Yep, the World Cup is great.
Aug-10-13  MarkFinan: Rogge... Scandinavian??
I thought Norwegians spoke Norwegian, Swedish spoke Swedish etc.. So is Scandinavia like Britain? A few countries bordering each other speaking one language"? And seriously... The television stations would subtitle my speech if i was famous, they do with the rock band Oasis and my accents fairly similar to theirs, but a lot stronger and Northernesque than theirs. I'm afraid even if i live to be a 100yr old, learning a new language will be on my 'like to have to but didn't have the patience' list Lol :)

If you found a complete nice and hot beauty from e.g. Brazil, dont you think you may be,just may be,could take a course in Portuguese/Spanish !?...:)

Nov-08-13  achieve: Hi there <Moro>!! How is life treating you, and vice versa?

Bit tingly in the stomach on the eve of the Big Clash??!!

For me I'm in fact quite excited, and looking forward to it immensely... After Lars' passing I now have a new pup in my home, Timmie (18 and 1/2 weeks now), and these are our predictions:

Timmie thinks Carlsen all the way, but I feel certain Anand has in fact very good chances in this fairly short 12-game match.

Perhaps a few nerves at start, but I expect very high quality chessical clashes for just about every single game. If Anand draws first blood we will be in for some "drama" even, I predict/expect. Anand will have two Whites in a row - games # 6 & 7 - and his aim must be to get in the lead by then, at the latest. That's one scenario. If not then I think Carlsen will have by then taken a rather firm grip on proceedings, also energy-wise, and mentally, if he has put some seeds of doubt or fatigue in Anand, who otherwise will not be toppled in a relatively short match like this.

It's a very tough assignment for both, in fact; which makes it even more interesting.

  moronovich: Hi´<achieve> !

How good to see you are dropping by and as always you tell a lot on and between the lines.

Yes,I am really looking forward to this big match, which we are many who have awatited for a long time. And now so close to pawn off..

I love the idea, the image, the fact ,that so many people of all kind of strenghts are folloing this event, move by move and everyone will have an opinion of what is going on...The best part of all this hype reminds me very much about the times when I was in my teens and went to see footballmatches: train arriving at the stations and groups of people going in the same direction with a lot of tension in the air.
We may live,in a way, in our daily bubbles, but for a while we are focused on the same event..

But the biggest risk is also IMO,that it will be over in 7-8 games with Carlsen on something like +2 and in control.

So my dreamscenario is Carlsen as winner( roughly same reasons as Garry Kasparov) after an even match.

I had a long talk/interview with a certain Peter Heine 4 years ago, shortly before the Topalov match and without me asking anything in this direction he mentioned Anands aging as something which should be taking seriously in account. That was 4 years ago and will in IMO play a great difference I stick with what I stated on an earlier occasion and say 80% Carlsen.

But all the Carlsen-favourit-talk may well have fired Vishy up till one last outstanding performance ...as well as it can backfire on Magnus.. who by the way looked totally fit on yesterdays pressconference.

Well, almost all the arguments pro and cons are nearly exhausted..all is left to let the pieces do the talking.

Your Timmie sounds like a wonderfull companion and I could imagine you enjoy that he has left his puppyhood !? :)

See you around <achieve>,perhaps tomorrow!? And take care.

p.s.norwegian television NRK1 is broadcasting live from 10.15 and later in the evening they give a 30 minuttes
summary.
We are treated like Kings these days!

Nov-08-13  virginmind: Hi <Moronovich> and how are you doing? As of me I'm eagerly waiting for this WCC match to start. Good luck for your Scandinavian fellow! May the best win! As to my prefference I'm surely inclined towards Carlsen too, as an European and someone symbolising the change and fresh air in chess. Anyway, as most people here, I think Anand's chances are pretty low. But you never know. See you around and lets hope for huge entertainment! :)

  moronovich: Hi´<virginmind> !

All in all I am doing fine, despite some minor healthissues.,thank you !

And you !? your life in Romenia ?..

Yes there is really a big match comming up :) If it only lwill live up to half the expectations, right ? ;)

I like your new avatar,as the the first one you had.Never really got familar with the keyboard-but I sometimes wanted to ask if it did symbolise a particulaer interest in music ? Our first visitor today <achieve> is very deep into music as you may already know..

Take care and let us enjoy :)

You are always welcome to visit. Also during the big match :)

Nov-08-13  achieve: <The best part of all this hype reminds me very much about the times when I was in my teens and went to see footballmatches: train arriving at the stations and groups of people going in the same direction with a lot of tension in the air.> That's indeed a very fine picture you're painting there; fine analogy... Thanks for that! a la "moro" ;)

Will Carlsen (team Carlsen) spring their opening novelties on Anand in the first 4 or 5 games?

Then of course there is a chance that Carlsen may leap ahead... But my question then is: what are the chances that C will be able to play a prepared line early on?

Small-ish imo - therefore I don't see Carlsen running away with anything early on, except when Anand is very nervous or blunders, and the chances of that happening are rather minute also. Everything has been prepared optimally, also the mental condition, so this will be like iron trying to fracture solid granite rock.

But for how long?

I think after game 7 we may start thinking about "real" predictions more seriously; before that it seems to me rather futile and often thinly supported.

Nov-08-13  achieve: Oh - and about your talk with PH Nielsen 4 years ago... very interesting - but I think we may have to include the possibility here of Anand trying to literally rejuvenate himself, as I read about his water diet and some other stuff; he is really trying to "reset" himself for this match, and in his last tournaments this year was also on the way up already, so at age 44/45 there still are a lot of possibilities, although agreed you are always drawing the short stick in that respect against someone half your age, like MC in this case.

Let's try and get back here in a few hours perhaps? ;)
