"Play the board AND the man ! ".
But mostly the board.
Was born in Elsinore,Denmark,1953.And I am still proud of it.As I hope everyone is proud of hers/his startingpoint.

In many aspects life and chess do mirror each other IM experience. As science and belief goes hand in hand.So many "rules of thumbs" and many "exceptions" from the rule. I do agree with Bent Larsen who once said that someone who cannot contain a paradoxe is not using the full capacity of his brain.Actually I am convinced that there are no parodoxes, but perspectives which are more bright or flexible than others...

Though some obviously are borned under more easygoing circumstances than others,I will second our esteemed fellowkibitzer <zarg> who underlines that "luck" is also somehing that we create ourselves. Ourselves, but also together IM experience.
I try to live my life as if Jesus or Buddha knocked on the door , I would wellcome them as friends . And if they didn´t show up, it would be fine anyway.

Nov-21-13  achieve: Good afternoon, Moro!

I wonder why Magnus is letting Anand run this phalanx of pawns on his K-side head on, and be crushed there with his remaining pieces hardly developed, plus a knight on the rim with few prospects (a6).

Very strange decisions by Magnus to allow this storm gathering... I assume Carlsen is calculating the options but this seems like asking for trouble.

Nov-21-13  achieve: I mean who wants that horrid f6 pawn planted in your camp, with a fairly easy follow up of Queen along the a-file, penetrating... f6 could come right after ...b3 as played last move by MC. But White has a few other plans of attack to choose from, imo.

  moronovich: Morning <achieve> ! b4
Extremely tactical right now.Anand has Qf4,Nh5,Qg4,Nf6 1-0 i think and Carlsen has also some tactics with Nb4(especially with the Queen on b6.

But we will se.All 3 results are possible now and the stakes are high.

See you.

Nov-21-13  achieve: Magnus is "chest-breathing", and at a slightly higher rhythm than normal. But really he should be breathing from his stomach. He looks fairly confident, though, still, in his face. My guess is he just keeps calculating...

moronovich: the above were just a few lines of what tactics there are in the position.

the long think of Anand also indicates this. But good to see the game is so rich.

Nervewracking stuff :)

Nov-21-13  achieve: Carlsen has to find all those perfect moves, "if they exist."

moronovich: The long think of Anand combined with my impressions of his face/body suggests he has lost some orientation. And perhaps another sign of aging..

-b3 was only for the most brave

Nov-21-13  achieve: or the most stupid, if he gets mated. All calculation, accurate at that, but it seems that |Anand| lacks one tempo to mate Carlsen directly.

Really extremely hardcore from Magnus !

  moronovich: And now o-1 officially
which means 3 matchballs to Magnus !
Nov-21-13  virginmind: Oh boy! The tiger has indeed awaken, only to selfdistruct by a blunder in the end. Very strange from Vishy, as he was not in time trouble, he calculated for half an hour no doubt this attack (including the acceptance of pawn promotion by Magnus) and still he failed to calculate that barring the check with either the bishop or the knight on e1 its not the same! I find this rather unacceptable at this level. Was his concentration overshadowed by the excitement of this position? Is it all explanable by the age difference between the two? hard to say...

What it's not difficult at all to say though, is that, with 3 wins needed in the remaining 3 games (only to equalise the score and go to tie breaks!), there's no chance Vishy will be able to do it. The tiger may be awaken, but it's psychologically death striken.

Hourray to the new world champion!

  moronovich: Good post <virginmind> !

Roughly same thoughts here and I am prety shure it is an age thing too, which doesn´t in anyway detract something from Magnus´brilliant play.

Peter Heine told me 4 years ago about Anands agin.He said it in a neutral voice, just something like a bussiness caculation.Anands own statements during variuous tornaments seem to confirm this.

And it is very good for the whole chess world that we now have a new champ IMHO.

So tomorrow will 90% shure be a dull draw and celebration time.See you then ? And take care.

All the best - moro.

Nov-22-13  virginmind: Hi <moro>, yup, celebration time today maybe, if not a little bit postponed :) But who cares, happiness should be all over Scandinavia anyway, am I not right? :)

Let's see if Anand decided for a tough fight up to the very end, or rather he will consider it more or less a formality and make a short draw today...

Nov-22-13  achieve: I'm in for a good game, a fight, not those sissy games they have been playing sofar, with a few exceptions. They ought to owe it to the unprecedented number of fans and followers.

Just Play Chess.

That's why we play this game and like to watch it.

Of course congrats to the newly "to be" crowned champion, but we need a match that endorses Chess, soon, with at least two parties that want to make life as difficult for the other as possible.

Some of these games here weirdly seem pre-arranged, even. Very weird when you are rolling up your sleeves for the Big Title.

  moronovich: Good morning <achieve> !

So today we most likely will have a new champ.I dont think they will put up a big fight today.Yeaterday was Anands last chance and he took it and Carlsen scored.

Most likely some 1.Nf3 or a dull Queens
Gambit.

But we never know :)
And if there isn´t much chess today we will have the celebration as a hightlight.

Enjoy gents !

moronovich: Sorry, off course also :Good morning to you <virginmind> !

Got a kind of headache today.
But in high spirits too.

Nov-22-13  virginmind: Congratulations!! World champion with two round to spare, now that's something. He made it look quite easy. And to be honest, given the huge gap between first and second on the Elo list in the past years, one could easily had expected him to also grab the world champion title, rather sooner than later.

He made his family and a huge amount of fans world wide, happy :)
